  1. I had the same problem this morning. I logged out then logged back in, everything back to normal...
  2. This is up there with cheese on toast pizza, but not in a good way. I'm afraid it's looking like another 12 months in solitary for our resident booze addled sexagenarian...
  3. A Jag? Behave...
  4. Can't hear you Quids :) Down, Down, You Bring Me Down...
  5. That's a great idea Hona, although I see you more as a grown up version of Le Petit Pissoir...a sort of roundabout feature fountain. We can't risk more Hepworth thievery, so foregoing bronze, perhaps we can melt down all the coins that everyone has been collecting in the 365 Day Penny Challenge. I have an artistic bent, when shall I come round and measure you up?...
  6. Never.Ever... Have seen your question Quids, will reply soon, busy with tax return...Boo!
  7. LadyG has got her mojo back. Week 19 points... Week 19 table...
  8. The best 45mins I've seen on the box this season was Liverpool's first half at City, completely ripped apart by an interchangeable front 3 of Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana. Milner was also very good and I believe he's been injured lately. When Benteke is in the team they can't play like that, he's not mobile enough, which probably frustrates a lot of Liverpool fans. Dele Alli's goal was excellent, he reminds me of a young Gerrard, good news for England as well as Spurs fans...
  9. When WH fans were calling for BFS to be sacked this time 3 years ago, I said BFS was the type the manager any club would want if they were in a relegation scrap. I said WH should keep him and then keep him for another season just to get a bit of stability at the club and established in the league, i.e. take a pragmatic approach for a couple of years as you'd just been promoted. If they then wanted to sack him and get a new, more attack minded manager, fine, go for it, the new manager will have 2 years to bed a new team in, before the move to the OS. WH fans at the time were saying that they would rather the club were relegated playing attractive football, and I said that there are plenty of clubs who have been relegated from the PL and have never been promoted back, which was a big risk with the move to the OS in mind. That's when I said ''careful what you wish for''. So, as we don't live in a parallel universe where BFS was sacked and WH relegated, we'll never know what might have happened. But what we do know is that keeping BFS at the time wasn't a mistake, so no words being eaten here...

  12. Of course contracts are meaningless when it comes to resigning/sacking, but that isn't my point. There's a big difference between offering someone a 3 year and a 6 year contract, regardless of whether the contract is honoured. Moyes was shit and clearly out of his depth. Any other club would've sacked him by Christmas. He was even beginning to look ill, sacking him was the equivalent of putting an injured animal to sleep...
  13. I think you're both confusing a plan (strategy, vision etc) with a contract, they're not the same thing. Regardless of the length of a contract, a prospective manager should be asked how he sees the medium and long term future of a club. Moyes was given a six year contract. He failed spectacularly, but the intention was he would be a long term appointment. Even Mourinho talked about building a dynasty/legacy at Chelsea. Spurs have given Pochettino a 5 year contract, you can see they are trying to build something long term. I fully expect they will try to extend his contract in the near future. That's how Utd should be thinking, bollox to LMA averages. LVG's appointment was only ever going to be a short term solution regardless of how well he did. He told Utd he would retire after 3 years no matter what, he was never going to be a medium or long term solution. All I'm saying is that Utd now need to be thinking medium to long term, have a clear strategy in place. At the moment there doesn't appear to be one. As Moyes proved, a long term contract/plan doesn't guarantee a manager will last, but at least the intention is there, we haven't got that with LVG...

That's exactly what he did with Ajax though, which makes his style of play at Utd all the more baffling. With a couple of older heads he moulded a team of unknown youth/home grown players into Champions League winners. Quite an impressive roll call... Edwin van der Sar Michael Reiziger Danny Blind Frank Rijkaard Frank de Boer Clarence Seedorf Finidi George Edgar Davids Ronald de Boer Jari Litmanen Marc Overmars Kanu Patrick Kluivert His CV is impressive too. I think it's just a case of right man at the wrong time. Utd need a manager with a clear 5-10 year plan/vision, not someone with one foot in his Portugal retirement home...
  15. After the Stoke defeat, LVG looked and sounded like a broken man. Unless Utd put on a very convincing display tonight, it will probably be his last game in charge. I don't like to see any manager hounded out of a job, but he only has himself to blame. It's alright rocking up with a 'philosophy', but not when that philosophy is at odds with the club's own philosophy and more importantly, it's DNA. Many fans like myself took a pragmatic view about the football served up in the first season. It wasn't always good on the eye, but there were signs of improvement, especially in early Spring when we convincingly beat Spurs, Liverpool and City on the bounce. At last the handbrake was off, then inexplicably LVG went back to type and things have steadily gone downhill ever since. He was more interested in not losing a game then trying to win one. This is summed up perfectly by his continual use of 2 holding midfielders, regardless of the opposition or whether it was a home or away match. His appointment was always going to be a stop gap, but the suits upstairs need to get the next appointment spot on. In hindsight, there was a real 'sliding doors' moment a couple of seasons ago for Spurs. LVG was nailed on to go there until Moyes was sacked. Utd got LVG and Spurs ended up with Pochettino. I've no idea who Utd would've got had LVG gone to Spurs, maybe Klopp, but Spurs definitely dodged a bullet there...
  16. Predictions aren't locked Foxy, you can change them anytime before kick off...
  17. We could be out of business soon... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35160965 Interesting that SAM's predictions are all fairly low scoring...computer says no 4-0's
  18. That's what happens when you try to dub step around the Christmas tree steveo...
  19. No point Meds, LVG would simply drum out any individual, attack-minded, free-spirited play. Ryan Shawcross would fit in better...
  20. Rapper's Delight reminds me of Christmas parties around that time. Just checked, it was still in the top 10 Christmas '79. From the same year, something to get *Bob* dub stepping around the Christmas tree...
  21. A day early this week, it's Christmas remember, time for some rapping...
  22. What the world wants to know is, did Mick Mac turn into a Lardy Arse?...

They also go OTT whenever a manager is doing well, best thing since sliced bread, Gary Monk future England manager etc. All down to the internet, they need fresh stories to keep getting hits, increase advertising revenue etc. If there isn't an agenda, they'll create one....
