  1. yes I noticed this last night. I wonder if its causing a day for night situation in any local residential windows.?
  2. Those drivers of us 'in the know' who avoid the turn right junction by going down nigel road and then turn right across the semi roundabout on that lower part of Rye Lane, I believe are in for a nasty surprise with plans to make nigel road a no through/dead end. Bliss for residents I am sure, but extra pressure on that right hand junction on the rye. Correct me if I am wrong.
  3. The Hob opposite Forest Hill station is the now permanent home of the original EDT Comedy that started in the eightees. It has strong bills in a purpose built comedy room (upstairs) booked and run by Ron and Emma who have years in the comedy business. This Saturday theyve got Will Smith, who plays the oppositon pr bloke in The Thick Of It.
  4. Re dogs in parks it's more the crapping pissing > and mating that motivates my reseecations rather > than any realistic fear of savaging. Even the most > 'broken britain' kids tend not to behave like that > . In dulwich at least. But I agree we should all > coexist in peace and Really? see Peckham Rose's 'preambial walk' thread, and then the thread on the dulwich park schoolboy masturbating in bushes . And the Peckham Rye schoolboy flashers. And the footballing wee-ers.
  5. yes I was extremely worried as this is the route my own children take to get the bus to secondary school. As an adult I find it difficult enough to negotiate the junction . We need a lollypop lady or policeperson there in the morning to get them safely accross.
  6. Oh no! it has been so dangerous for school children to cross this crossing in the morning without any obvious indicators of when it is safe.
  7. the dogs on trikes are what I worry about.
  8. When did public toilets disappear? They used to be plentiful. Even in Peckham Rye Park its quite a hike from the playing field up top down to the wardens cabin. As for shopping, In the olden days department stores would host loos, but there arent many of those about any more. Asking to use a cafe or pub you are quite likely to be turned down, and publicly and loudly. It's not just the very young but the old, the pregnant, the pelvically floored challenged- who need to go. It's a basic human need. A total absence of public toilets is sending the message that its OK to wee in the street. Its like bins in stations- if you don't have them, you're telling people its OK to litter. Give us the tools and we will finish the jobbie!
  9. People knock homeopathy because they can't get round the 'memory of water' idea. But let's put it this way, when I fart in the sea, everybody knows about it. Fact.
  10. what about if you were going to a fancy dress party?
  11. How disgusting! To leave their engine running! Ecovandals!
  12. perhaps this evolved from the extremely annoying woman who thinks it helps the parks wildlife to dump huge vats of leftover boiloignaise directly onto the grass, resulting in loss of control over the mutts who find this too hard to resist.
  13. yes I had no phone line or internet when I tried both at around 11.am. Eventually they came back and hour or two later but internet very slow.
  14. next to brenchley gardens victor. I havent actually been there myself but my children and their friends have and rave about it.
  15. his collar could be just under his ears and therefore not visible to camera. If it was lower it would be loose enough to slip over his head. What a handsome fella. and great photos Rosie.
  16. nunhead reservoir is the tops.
  17. or maybe someone thought 'oh a lost purse, I will hand it in to the police.'worth giving them a ring.
  18. my master plan is to continue the victoria line from Brixton to Herne Hill, apparently there is a ghost tube station underneath as the line extends there to turn the trains.
  19. If you can't get your normal nuts off, sounds like thieves wouldnt get your nuts off either.
  20. Its not clear when it's safe to cross, and as Monday is the start of school for many secondaries I think this is very dangerous for schoolchildren.
  21. thanks Barry, its better for us to know and not attempt the journey, so very grateful.
  22. Barry I'm meant to be visiting Mum in Dorchester tommorow. What are the chances do you think by train?
  23. hope your furry friend is not put off by his horrible experience and will bounce back soon.
  24. What first mate said. I never let my off-lead dog approach an on-lead dog in the park at all- it's on a lead for a reason.-and I'm assuming that dog is not OK to mix. The guy probably knew this, but seeing him get on with your dog thought it was OK. A third dog coming in can change the dynamics compeletly. A nervous dog afraid of the new dog might actually turn on his playmate as an aggressive displacement activity. I don't let my dog play with dogs he doesnt know unless introduced -or small dogs- but if he is playing nicely and a third dog comes into the picture, I call him away. Also in play it is important for owners of all the dogs involved to be in control of their dogs and for their dogs to have good recall.
