  1. Echoing above, sorry to hear you go James, you have set a high bar and a tough act to follow. Remember a number of occasions you have assisted me with issues and it was very much appreciated All the best Calsug
  2. Maybe prices depend on catch of the day or maybe they haven?t been decided yet . also you find a few restaurants that have example menus online with no prices as this reduces the need for website updates which if outsourced can be an added cost either way am sure they will actually be mentioned on their menu in the restaurant All that said I?m excited for a local shop to be expanding and offering something different for lordship lane so let?s focus on that instead herne hilly Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Looks lovely but such a shame no prices, a bit > pretentious, this is East Dulwich not Mayfair.
  3. We have silk duvets and pillows - would personally never go back to feather. My wife is asthmatic so it is also the best for her. The one main issue is it can't be washed as easily as feather or synthetic - so be careful!
  4. Apples - really!?!? I could say so much more but this thread is nuts Both parents and dog owners need to control and supervise - it is as simple as that.
  5. Are you seriously telling me you would be fine with people living outside your house? What happens to all their rubbish or sewage? flocker spotter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > does it matter?
  6. Plus depending on your mortgage they will increase the rate if you want to rent it. My bank wanted to add an extra 1% for the privilege so the numbers just didn?t stack up. As a result we?re selling KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If you rent your house out we careful because when > the interest rates rise you need extra money to > pay the mortgage.
  7. Go, but that said I?m bias as we are emigrating at the end of the year but the thought process was very similar to yours. Definitely for us London seems to have lost its shine and for me personally I grew up in the countryside so feel there are better places to live and have our kids grow up. Despite London giving you access to do pretty much everything you want, realistically how often do you do them? I would much rather now visit as a ?tourist? We don?t have any friends where we are going either but in terms of plane trip to see friends and family it won?t be a much longer travel time than trekking across London etc... same will be for you if you move to Brighton plus am sure you will make more of an effort to organise things
  8. Self confessed lazy when it comes to a Friday night pizza in jimbo1964 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's best to collect .. And much cheaper.
  9. Will give them a go next, menu looks great Dom Johnston Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They started delivery on Friday, Saturday and > Sunday a little while ago. 10. Well I?ve had two bad days in a row from them! Used to order quite regularly from them but seems recently they?ve had issues with the delivery part of their service judydiaz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Maybe that was bad day for them because I was the > maybe 4 or 5 times and everything was ok
  11. That I agree with but I mean pulling out in front of me to make me stop so they can cross over. Most of the time will gladly slow and flash lights to let someone out if they are waiting but pulling out to make me stop is pretty annoying Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Calsug Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > --- > > > > > > > As for cars pulling out in front of you, > > definitely a London thing and totally > > selfish/dangerous or even what I call the > > aggressive nudging out into the road at > junctions > > - if they pull out in front of me to do this I > now > > make a point of driving round them if they are > > blocking my side of the road ( when I safely > can) > > > Whilst I agree this may often be > selfish/aggressive (probably the same drivers who > tailgate others to intimidate them in a 20mph > zone), it is sometimes very difficult to see from > a side road when the main road is clear to pull > out, because of parked cars in either the side or > main road. > > Also, particularly if there is a lot of traffic, > sometimes the only thing to do is to nudge out > gradually so that you can see and make use of a > brief break in the traffic. > > Many of the side roads round here are just not > suited for the amount of parking and traffic they > get, and people parking on double yellows with no > fear of a fine just makes things worse for > everybody else.
  12. Walking across zebra or pelican crossings round here I?m never totally confident cars will stop for me Top worst is the goose green roundabout crossings as most drivers are too busy concentrating on merging onto the roundabout or the Barry road / Peckham Rye crossing where drivers are going too fast. Many times I?ve had drivers cruise straight through and give me a nonchalant wave!? As for cars pulling out in front of you, definitely a London thing and totally selfish/dangerous or even what I call the aggressive nudging out into the road at junctions - if they pull out in front of me to do this I now make a point of driving round them if they are blocking my side of the road ( when I safely can)
  13. Maybe taking the link down and removing the picture would be good. Don?t want whichever invidual doing this thinking this is getting the desired extra attention
  14. We?ve switched to the nitrate free bacon and it tastes great, it?s more expensive but less water seems to come off it when cooked would be good if William rose started selling it Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > M&S now sell bacon produced without nitrites. > > Nitrites are the cancer causing ingredient in > bacon.
  15. Pretty sure I?ve seen bags of non smokeless for sale in the co-op too As I said I?m not passing judgement and am wondering what people think I guessed it is up there as probably one of the more readily flouted and least enforced laws DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > B&Q sell Smokeless Coal BUT also sell coal that is > prohibited in smokeless zones. 16. Didn?t think I could be more surprised than people being able to steal bmw?s without keys but now they are just taking the steering wheel!?
  17. What are people?s views on this? I?m torn between all three- 1) it might be the only way someone can afford to heat their house 2) it?s illegal and damaging to people?s health 3) indifference and just leave them to it
  18. Would recommend Matthew Hanson and his team, did an excellent job on our bathroom and their follow up on snagging issues was fantastic
  19. Went for them in the end, not bad! Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Franco Manca
  20. Well actually pizzas are pretty decent but their service is totally rubbish Ordered a pizza the other week and it took 2 hours to arrive finally arrived and it was cold - manager apologised and offered free pizza for next order... so just tried to order one and they aren?t taking delivery orders at the moment as too busy?! Bit of a shame as really fancied a pizza tonight - any other suggestions?
  21. You?re very correct and I was very wrong... rendelharris Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Calsug Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > You can tell I?m not busy today... according to > > merchantmachine.co.uk the transaction cost is > > around 1.75% for a debit card. 22. You can tell I?m not busy today... according to merchantmachine.co.uk the transaction cost is around 1.75% for a debit card. So that?s about 0.015 p for an 89p transaction. I don?t know if there are an other costs to factor in though?? Edit - ignore rubbish maths and see below...
  23. I suppose what Monica means is the overall cost of banking say 200 quid of say 20 transactions is much lower as it?s spread over a bigger amount than say 30 p per transaction for a debit card.
