It coat 75 pounds for our wood burner
Definitely recommend Alan from 123 had him round last week for our annual sweep (decided to do it earlier this year as he gets busy quickly as winter approaches!)
Excellent service as always

The borderline comical actually was seeing a guy at Cafe G who had his keyboard and mouse along with him for his laptop and was properly setup!
I get why people do it and I guess if Cafe's didn't want them then they wouldn't offer free wifi... does it p!ss me off when I can't find a seat in a cafe? Yes but thats not really their fault.

Farmers do them at a reasonable price

Agreed, the house we moved into had damp proofing work done by a builder and had failed but they had no guarantee for the damp proofing we ended up getting a decent discount off the asking price, got an approved damp proofing company in which provides a guarantee on the work carried out should it fail in the future.
Sometimes it might seem like you are saving money at the time but when you come to sell it and if you get a buyer with a surveyor with a keen eye they will always spot damp in a Victorian house you are instantly on the back foot...

bit of a generalisation and depends on what you need the damp survey for. IF its to get money off buying a house for example get a free survey done from Kenwoods who will come in on the high side and use that as a tool to reduce the price of the house on purchase...

Russell - RJP roofing, he is fantastic used him a number of times and always carries out work to a very high standard
-
Clearly I don't follow this forum enough to get the sarcasm posts!

Looks fantastic, my wife was mentioning that the long grass on Peckham Rye should have something similar done
What seeds did you use?

Currently a very senior looking member of Southern doing a TV interview outside London Bridge station if you fancy heckling him - I was very tempted having just been at the ticket office to renew my season ticket...

Most competitive I have found and service is excellent plus they can recommend an approved fitter for you if you want

We are looking to get a waist height book shelf with a gate built in fitted between our current dining room and sitting room with the intention to turn the dining room into a separate play room.
It needs to be fitted round some pillars and would need to be smart / in keeping with current decor - anyone got any suggestions for a good carpenter with a bit of imagination to make something that looks good?
Thanks

Patryk is truly fantastic, had him round to do our back patio and fencing and now he's back to put in some additional drainage along the side of our house.
Couldn't believe how tidy he was despite having to cart loads of rubble etc... through the house. Plus he is always willing to help out with a few extra bits along the way, we had the plumber coming round and he was worried they would make a mess taking up some floor boards so he offered to do a clean cut on them to save us the mess!

Another recommendation for Julian he did a fitted wardrobe in our spare room and the finished result was fantastic
Always left the room tidy at the end of the day and very professional throughout

Would like to recommend Wayne from Xtremeclean ECO he did a fantastic job on our stair runner, as it was wool it needed a more delicate cleaning than normal.
Really didn't appreciate how dirty it had got until I saw the finished result.
Professional and a great person to deal with - will definitely use again

We've been given quite a few teddies by friends and family for our newborn son to the point where there are probably a few too many!
Does anyone know where we can donate some to? We don't have a car so walking distance would be good

Get a montion activated sprinkler, tried all the powders and gels they didn't work but the sprinkler works wonders

Renata I really struggle to beleive that fly tipping has not gone up after the introduction of having to pay to remove bulky waste - have you got anything official to support that? Also any idea on savings made by charging for waste removal?
-
Would recommend Buggy Pitstop, we just got our bugaboo fully serviced with them and they did a great job.
-
James I would be genuinely interested to know how much the council has saved (or I suspect lost) by the introduction of a charge to remove bulky waste...
Certainly the amount of fly tipping has increased dramatically and affects everyone particularly those in "hot spots"
I wish the council was more imaginative and proactive in tackling the problem

Will follow this thread to know what pubs to avoid - Nothing like getting a face full of some weird sweet smelling vapour... at least smokers now generally blow cigarette smoke up away from people, with 'vapers ' the bigger the more obnoxious the cloud the better it seems.

There is one in Upland road as well by the corner shop

In an ideal world I would do all of the painting in my house, I consider myself fairly competent at it but certain jobs either realistically I don't have the time for or require scaffolding etc... so I am more than willing to pay for a professional to do it for me, which leads me onto two occasions now where initially the job appears to be okay but then you start to find issues with it or simply the finish does not last because it has not been done properly....
I won't name names but on both occasions the painter came round and gave a good chat of course backed up with having xx years experience and the next thing you know once confirmed and complete stranger is working on your house - okay fair enough to outsource but with painting in particular this seems the norm...
I am unlucky or maybe I am too much of a perfectionist ?
Either way I am stuck needing some work done and want someone to do a proper job on it as it is exterior woodwork so recommendations welcome - no trade PMs - these will be deleted.
Thanks

I had the unfortunate situation today to almost witness something that could have ended really badly
A child probably around 5-6 years old was cycling down the pavement with no parents in sight wobbled a steered his bike into the road where there was an oncoming car, fortunately he fell off and landed with his bike just on the side of the kerb and didn't go all the way into the road
I picked up the boy and his bike and asked him where his parents were and as we were on a corner there was no one in sight, a short time later his dad comes round the corner - I tried to explain the situation but was still in a bit of shock so not sure he got the message and I guess he thought I was having a go at him as he shrugged his shoulders and said his son knew to stop on the corners....
Long and the short of it just because they know when to stop on a corner doesn't mean they are proficient enough to cycle alone and safely down the street - please please bear this in mind

Another recommendation for Russell, his work is excellent and he has helped us out with a number of tricky problems on our old roof taking time with each one to get it fixed properly where others have clearly bodged in the past. As with others experience he doesn't try to "up sell" his work and will only quote what he believes is necessary.
He's busy so book in advance if you need work done
