  1. My sympathies Loki. I don't blame the workers. Accountability starts at the top and just like other services, this government seems intent on running the service into the ground. Meanwhile the rest of us suffer terrible service. It's almost impossible to complain by phone. I hope they settle soon and you get decent conditions of employment for all our sakes.
  2. Even tracked post is not getting here. Two of my parcels have not arrived. On both occasions the tracker says missed delivery and card put through door. Not true on both cases. No card has ever been put through my door. To add insult to injury, they ask for you to take the card in order to get it from the sorting office, that's if it is even there. Try phoning up and it's a 40 minute wait on the phone.
  3. I walked down Donkey Alley about lunchtime this morning and saw two council workers peering through a hole in the fence where the barking dog is. They told me that they were from the noise nuisance team and had received complaints about the barking. The dog at this time was proving the point by barking for England. I confirmed to them that yes, the dog barks a lot, even when I'm walking past at night. So anyway, looks like they're taking it seriously.
  4. I'm in SE22 and my microwave from John Lewis was dispatched and out for deliver last month but never arrived despite being tracked. RM checked with the local sorting office who never replied to explain where it went. RM told me to complain to JL . So I'm not happy with RM at all and especially not Peckham sorting office.
  5. I'm noticing that some deciduous trees , like sycamores still have their leaves. Some are even still green. I'm sure they're usually bare at this time of year, or am I misremembering?
  6. Good news. I love a happy ending
  7. It's a bit worrying. If there's no information forthcoming I would be doubly suspicious and maybe check with whichever Southwark department he works for? Dog could have been kidnapped for all we know. It's so easy to be wise after the event and think about what one should do in these circumstances. Probably the best thing is to insist on ID before dog taken away but not so easy to think of these things at the time. I hope we all get answers about where this dog has ended up.
  8. Could it be that the person apparently from Southwark council was in fact the owner and didn't want anyone to know due to poor condition of the dog? That's the only thing that makes sense of his behaviour
  9. Saied has just finished leveling the top of my garden. It was a huge job as my shed had to be demolished and my pond excavated to prepare the ground for a garden room and another pond. The job proved to be more difficult than first thought, as thick concrete was discovered, along with other rubbish below the soil level. Saied got everything out. He also salvaged all my pond plants and other plants, and replanted some so that I would not lose some old favourites. He did a very thorough job and I definitely recommend him.
  10. What's not good for the environment is having a reduced bus service making the car more attractive. What about those people who have mobility issues and find it difficult to hop on and off buses, let alone to keep changing along the route. Petition signed
  11. If you live near Barry Rd that leaves just one bus route, 197 only goes as far as Peckham so not much good if you're going into city centre. The 12 route is a main route much used to get into the West End. Try getting on one going home during rush hour. Will other bus routes like the 176 lay on more frequent journey's? I think not. Once again TFL making cuts at the expense of travellers in the South East

Have you tried posting a review on their Facebook page? They seem to reply quite quickly to negative comments
  13. As posted above, I used Green Energy Together and they did everything on the day they said they would. Installation, follow up inspection, everything to plan and in good order. Strange how two different households can have such a different experience.
  14. When leaflet for solar panels from the mayor's office came through the door I decided to register my interest. Mayor Khan explained that once Londoners had signed up (with no obligation to proceed), he would send it out to tender. The company called Green Energy Together was awarded the contract. I have a small 3 bed and the cost of panels plus battery came to about ?6.5k. The battery cost came to almost half of the cost but you don't have to included it in the package. Anyway I went ahead with it and the installation all went swimmingly. There was a bit of a delay on the admin side getting the paperwork together but it all came good in the end. It was installed just before Christmas and I didn't see much production in winter. However, to give you some idea I've just checked total production and consumption for the month of May. Consumption 4.12kwh, Production 3.10 kwh. Bear in mind that we are home a lot, so Tele, lights, kettle going most of the day and also all electric cooking. My biggest bugbear is not being able to connect it to the grid yet because we can't get our smart meter converted, despite waiting 2 years.....but that's another story.
  15. It's all very well talking about various changes you can make along the route if you're fit and able bodied. Not so helpful if you are elderly and have trouble getting on and off the bus or if you have other mobility problems or need wheelchair access. Cuts to services just make these journeys even more difficult. Some people will then have to rely on going by car, thus defeating TFL's efforts to get cars off the roads.
  16. Agreed. I'd like to see a comparison chart of the frequency of other bus routes outside zone 1 We would then know where Dulwich stands in the bus route pecking order. . And I bet we're no where near the top
  17. Forgot about that earlier thread jazzer
  18. Well, considering that it is a main route going into central London, and they used to be about 6 minutes apart, and compared to most other routes which are more frequent and haven't been cut then yes, unreasonable in my opinion.
  19. What is the justification for reducing the service yet again to about 14 minutes between services. This part of S.E London already has an inferior public transport system. How is cutting services helping in the fight to reduce carbon emissions? And what about our councillors? Are they doing anything to fight our corner with TFL?
  20. Yes. I posted that a few posts ago but well worth repeating
  21. All you bird lovers out there, RSPB are urging us to leave out dishes of soil and water to help migrating birds swifts, house martins and swallows to build their nests, as the expected warmer weather is going to make the soil too hard for them to gather mud.
  22. I'm in Dulwich Hill too. Not one leaflet, not one campaigner at the door. Being a traditional Labour voter, hate to say it, but very disappointed with Labour councillors on replying to concerns about local issues. I've voted Green this year hoping that at least one will get in. Wish we had more proportional representation.

I have now planted some native trees for hedges.I noticed today that the sparrows have found a nice bit of real estate down Friern Road. There is a house there with a decoration high up on the front wall. It's like a pattern formed of holes that the sparrows can go in and use for nesting. Sorry I'm not explaining very well. Haven't got the vocabulary to explain this decorative architectural feature but the birds are loving it.
  24. I visited them yesterday and they gave me a free sunflower plant so that was nice. The man told me that they have a list of rules that they agreed with the Council, and a council official visits them randomly to check.
  25. Can't believe so much fuss about a few tents in the park. Wish there was as much attention on this forum given to the problems that our campers are publicising.I think it's time to move on and find something else to moan about.
