  1. I got home from a lovely holiday last night to find that someone had poured a lot of white paint all over the ground at the side of our house. Anyone who walks through Dawson Heights nature reserve to Donkey Alley will see it. It has seeped through the fence and spread all over my flower borders. I don't understand why anyone thinks that this is a good place to dump their rubbish. What baffles me is that there is no paint tin there so presumably someone has tipped it out of its tin. On a more practical note, I'm wondering if it is worth asking the Council to put a no fly tipping sign there. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.
  2. I'm sorry but I have to disagree that no response to reporting missed bins has only been a problem since covid.Where I live in Donkey Alley this has been a problem for years and reporting has been a waste of time. At one time my blue bin wasn't collected for 6 weeks. We had to put it all in the car and take it to the tip. One day my husband saw them at the bottom of our hill and ran down to ask them to come up and take our bin. They only came up after having an argument about it. Reported it to my councillor who never even sent me an acknowledgement. I'm hoping they pick up all the food that they didn't collect last week.
  3. I agree with you Nigello. We need as many trees as we can get to re-wild our country and fight climate change.I think the trees are likely to enhance the view. I'm sure we will still be able to see the skyline as the trees would have to be really tall to block it.If I hear anything back from the Councillor I will post it here.
  4. I have emailed the councillor so lets see what happens
  5. Will do. Thanks
  6. Ive just come back from the hill and seen a few saplings and those plastic tubes scattered around. I dont know if they've been pulled up or if its the wind but its such a shame. It's not too late to replant them. Does anyone know who I could contact to let them know and hopefully send someone there?
  7. Our brown bin wasnt collected this Tuesday either. Ive given up reporting missed collections because all you get is an automated reply, then your complaint is ignored. Its been that way for years.
  8. Thanks for advice. Will try that route
  9. Had the same problem about untrue information. The last time it wasn't collected my husband managed to catch one of the refuse collectors on following bin day. He insisted that the bin hadn't been left out, even though I'd dragged it there myself. I insisted that it had been there but he would not back down. I could only find the report missed bin page on the council website and no phone number, so no chance to speak to a human being on the phone.
  10. I've had a look at the new plans. It looks to me like the overall building area has been reduced. There's been a nod to environmental concerns with plans for a roof garden and recommendations for a pond and bird and bat boxes. I would like to think that these recommendations would be enforced but who knows? I also worry about the removal of trees but looks to me like there are more trees being retained if I've read it right.
  11. I've lost count of the number of times the bins have been missed down our road. The blue bins have been emptied in Goodrich Road and the surrounding area. I've just done an inspection. From the bottom of Donkey Alley and all the way up, the bins are full. I've reported a missed collection but experience has told me that the report is never acted on.
  12. James. Can you please look into none collection of garden waste due to not getting stickers. The environmental dept don't answer the phones. The refuse collectors have told me that I'm not on their list for collection and they are not allowed to empty the bin. I have paid ?30 for a service that I'm not getting.
  13. I didn't get a reminder to renew either. I wouldn't use anyone else's bin. I just want my sticker! Not looking forward to another kerfuffle with our collectors again tomorrow.
  14. I don't know if other residents are having this problem. Having paid my ?30 for garden waste collection a couple of weeks ago, I still havent received a sticker for the bin and the refuse collectors won't empty it. They want a reference number which I unwisely never wrote down. After hanging on the council phone for half an hour I have now been cut off. I've given up.
  15. Our food bin has just been collected and dumped on the road. Our garden waste hasn't been picked up at all. This isn't the first time that our bins have been left. We are at Donkey Alley.
  16. Hello Arabella. Your road is a bit of a distance from us but it's possible. I did try to download s photo but couldn't do it for some reason. I can maybe try e mailing you the photo. Have you got an email address?
  17. We have a very friendly cat who is always visiting. It sits in our garden for a good part of the day. We also have a ginger cat who looks very much like this other cat. Sometimes it sneaks into the house and pinches Plato's food. I'm just wondering where this cat comes from, as I would like it's owner to know where he/she hangs out in case they worry about where it is.Even as I write this, your cat is crouched inside a box in our garden. I can let you have my phone number in case you ever want us to check if it's with us.
  18. Thanks for the info. No water here at Donkey Alley either. AS for Thames Water distributing water. Don't hold your breath. The last time it happened, we had no water for nearly two days and TW opened up standpipe afternoon of second day. Thank god we bought a water butt last year. At least we can flush toilet now.
