  1. I agree with Spanglysteve - I also thought Quaverflava's post was funny - people need to lighten up, plenty of people with kids manage to shop using buses and cope ok - as we all probably did in the 1950s Talking of buses - it always amazes m when mums with buggies (in rush hour) get upset that they can't take over the whole lower level with child filled buggies - I'm sure not that many years ago there used to be signs on buses stating that pushchairs could only be brought on board if folded - whatever happened to them?

Doesn't the lack of a car in the space suggest that it is a really popular service that is always booked out, thereby suggesting that there is indeed local demand?
  3. I love streetcar - since one was installed about 20 yards from my house it has been like having my own car and guaranteed parking - brilliant!
  4. Don't forget though that charity shops like any other commercial operation have to pay for their waste to be removed - so just saying thank you and accepting any old tat actually results in a cost to organisation leon parker Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The problem is not weather the staff are happy to > accept or not it is when they can not do due to > size of shop this what can cause confrontations. > Accepting crap donations is part of the job many > other charity shops accept them and get on with > the job. 5. As I always walk to the charity shops when donating, I always take items that fit in carrier bags firt, thatwyif they are no accepting you can always fit them in the textiles bin outside the Mind shop (I did check - it's not just go textiles!) - if they are receivin then come back with more stuff later!
  6. Hi Tanza I'm sure Barry will respond in detail, but as long as they only use Southern or First Capital Connect trains nd avoid the Southeastern ones they should be ok - the platform train indicators at Denmark Hill show the name if the train company so it should be easy enough to avoid the Southeastern trains
  7. It is bad at night - on Sunday it was completely gridlocked and the south band bus was stationary for about 20 mins Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Thanks James - I assume that would be the case but > by the time I come back through in the evening > there's not enough traffic to know if there's an > issue or not!
  8. Hi - I know this is probably outside your patch, but can you find out what on earth is happening with the serial roadworks by Denmark Hill station, as soon as one set ends another starts - invariably requiring the bus stop to be closed. Today the northbound and two southbound bus tops are all out of order meaning that I (and everyone else leaving the station to go south) had to walk almost to the Dog Kennel Hill junction to get a bus None of the works have the usual signs telling you what they are for, so no idea if they are gas, water, electric, phone, tv, council ....... 9. Can't we all cut the refuse guys some slack? It's hardly the end of the world to save a few bags of recycling until after Christmas - it should all be clean after all would so would not be a health risk whether left in the garden or Stored in the house RDJ Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > James, thanks very much for clarifying all that, > but it's disappointing that although the the pilot > scheme for recycling is going really well, > prioritising the green bin collections over the > recycling collections seems to be a little bit > contrary to the stated aims of Southwark's refuse > policy. > > Ironically, it will now certainly be the case in > our house that all the recyclable things go in the > green bin over the next week or so, as we don't > have anywhere else to put them!

  12. Your main problem will be if your homebuyers survey finds evidence of subsidence - if no evidence you shouldn't have any problem I insure with lloyds T S B and no issue - despite a few dodgy cracks and floors you could roll a tennis ball down!
  13. sorry - ignore this - I read on and it had already been answered! Hi James Why are tetrapacks treated differently to other recycling? Surely if they are readily recyclable then we should just be able to put them in with the glass / metal / plastics? 14. by 'powers that be' do you mean the union choosing to go on strike or Network Rail trying to run the best service it can in the circumstances? matthew123 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Damn no trains from ED!
