  1. I would also like to add if people do start to use kitchen roll, wet wipes and boxed tissue - please do not flush them down the toilet, as these will block toilets/sewers - please use a bin to dispose of it (this is quite common in countries which do not have adequate sewer pipes). And there is always free metro newspapers to use, anyone else remember that tracing paper stuff they used to have in schools years ago
  2. I struggle to see what people do in banks and have this debate with my mum. 20 yrs ago - yes, people used banks. Now - bills are direct debit, cheques are rarely dished out, most places give the option of direct bank transfer. Many businesses prefer less cash as it means less cashing up at the end of the day. Cash you can withdraw from a cash point. Anything complex they direct you to phone them anyway. From a cost effective point of view, lets say they have 150 customers a week,so in a year 7800 people. No idea how much it costs to run the bank, stab in the dark, lets say ?250,000, thats a cost of ?32 per person. Even when you go in a bank , they have the staff asking what you want to do, always trying to tell you how you could do it without going to the bank. They took one look at my mums 10 yr old mobile and let her pass to pay in her cheque at the machine lol
  3. It will be very easy for the bus company to know which p4 was at red post hill at 15.20 on any given day. Good luck and hope you got to work/school.
  4. They will be racking in the cash from this also, would be interesting to know how much. https://www.pubintheparkuk.com/ Coming to Dulwich Park July 2020 ! (*Subject to license)
  5. that does seem quite expensive but guess you have to weigh this up with the pollution that petrol/diesel give out. are the charging points all powered with electricity from a renewable source as if they are fossil fuel powered seems like we are going round in circles.
  6. Can understand why they would install in a cluster as there was a lot of road digging to get the 5 i have saw being done in se24. Saying that, positioning them outside sunray park on a dead end road with no houses around is odd. I would be interested to know how many hours they have been used, from what i have seen i would say at most one has been used for maybe a few hours in total in the last month. They are empty 99% of the time

Its true they were covered for about a month but they are now live and working. they are from https://www.sourcelondon.net/ here are the prices for those interested https://www.sourcelondon.net/rates its been very noticeable in terms of parking, removing about 20 metres of parking has made it much harder to park in daytime hours.
  8. but you do need the intial funds to buy an EV. think the cheapest ev on the market is ?8k and the egolf is ?21k
  9. my guess is a car wash or block of flats ;)
  10. the 5 installed around us are never all in use, the most i have seen is 2 out of the 5 being used. i believe you have to pay a membership also ? how much running around the local area will that ?10 last for?
  11. I think the point chick was making is most people do not know what ic3 means and it would be clearer if they said black. this video comes to mind :
  12. what will the restrictions be on them, the new bays i have seen in se24 are 4 hr max stay so fairly useless if you are a teacher or commuter, as you would have to move after this time. And if roads are going to have parking restrictions anyway, i can't see people flocking to use them.
  13. Its so sad that someones livelihood has come to an end. The local chip shop has been a staple on any high street since the 70s and many chip shops are stuck there. But saying that I love a good fish&chip dinner with a gherkin that i can pick up for ?8 ish. But a business can not survive on the few people like me. If we look at the demographic of people in the area and also the vast number of food establishments and the ease of deliveroo, people are spoilt for choice and many don't bat an eye at spending ?50 on a take out on some artisan meal with a side of smashed avocado and goji berries ;). Sad but a sign of the times.
  14. Sainsburys PR has gone into overdrive these last few weeks - this is all about publicity and nothing more. This fireworks thing, the Dyson Hoover offer, the twitter tweeting it was saturday (when it was friday), the new nectar app is being pushed hard. They are losing money and need any publicity.
  15. Didn't they re do part of it a few years back. Does the council take note of these comments, how much do they count towards the final decision.
  16. if it doesn't cost anything , its worth a shot. But if they are being strict with the load/unload rule, they could argue that if you were unloading, you should have returned to your car within the 5 mins unloaded all the items in the shop and then parked elsewhere and returned to the shop to discuss.
  17. SE24 bins removed today - my green waste was collected on friday and I had filled it and was outside when the guy came past. He told me he was collecting all the bins who hadn't paid for the subscription, (i've not paid for subscription),i said thats fine but I had already filled it, he said no problem, he is going to dump it in one of the bins with a label. so this could be the reason why people are finding random green waste in their bins.
  18. peckman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Herne hilly .. how very community minded of you. Im guessing you are talking about the leaves, after 20 yrs of sweeping them up and the ?1000s spent due to subsidence from the trees. Im not going to pay for a bin as well. I don't believe I am obligated to get rid of the leaves. Personally my garden is not huge and will be happy to have one less bin and will just pay for bags when i need them.
  19. What an absolute farce. No movement at all in SE24. Every week I have been filling mine thinking it will be the last week. i have trimmed everything within an inch of its life. lol. its all looking very manicured. I guess this saga continues, I would have been very annoyed if I had paid, as I've practically finished all my major trimming for the year. My only issue is come autumn, I used to fill about 2 bins of leaves from the massive trees on the pavement that fell into my front garden. Now I will just sweep them in the road.
  20. i watched them this morning empty my unlabelled bin. they were a crew of 3; 2 guys went up the road tipping food waste in their bins from each side of the street and then the driver, got out and did my garden waste. He got back in the lorry then saw he missed another garden waste bin. That poor guy is going to be in and out of that lorry no end, he looked very fed up. Seems like a rubbish system. ps. still have my bin
  21. anyone have a pic of the menu. Can't find it on their website
  22. Thanks for the update. might try and fill mine one last time ;-)
  23. this one opening in herne hill in July. (in the old illusionist shop). https://www.jarrmarket.co.uk/
  24. I ordered the food caddie a few months back and got one that just said food waste. The one my mum has had for years says food waste and garden waste - but not sure what you could fit in it. I saw some stickers down my road and the waste of plastic tags to sell the subscription. One of the stickers i saw already had a curled edge, maybe the heat melted the glue. They will have to start collecting them up soon
