  1. Dusaras used to leave the freeby cinema magazine on top of the counter and the pirate films they had underlined in pen were the ones they had copies of. The other video shop close to St Thomas Moore Hall closed down some time in the mid/late 80s.
  2. Some more memories that i can recall of East Dulwich (just for posterity of course), Brixton Riots and all the shops boarding up because of a march by the skinheads nearby, PC George Hammond who was stabbed and later died (not from his wounds) in the newsagent that was close to the corner of LL near frogley road. What happened to the fairs they had in goose green, and dulwich county fair where has that gone?!?. Mr Stevens of Heber Primary School an amazing head who guided and helped alot of the kids in East Dulwich. The fire at either Bonnies or le chardon, we lived behind that on Nutfield Road and my dad went over the back of our garden to help rescue a guy who was on the second floor fire escape. White Swan chinese restaurant (now chopstick) great guy, very small and his son was over 6ft. The Magdala, crims in one bar, cops in the other. Honest! And the landlord of the EDT, I forget his name, but during the early 90's he turned the place around and made it into a place that normal people could frequent. I worked at the fruit and veg shop on N Cross road in the 80's too god rest Pat who worked there, I'm sure if you go to the Irish Centre you know who i mean.
  3. This brought back so many memories, Golden City did the best chips in the world, until you ate half the bag and felt sick because of all the oil... If i may add a couple of other shops that I can recall like the bakers on LL near the police station that would sell you yesterdays cakes for pennies. The war memorabilia shop on N Cross Road. The corner shop on crawthew grove/spurling road that had all the jars of sweets and would let you pay for xmas pressies in instalments. I'm warming up now...there was a comic shop near to whats now the Irish Shop, and the video shop in the same area that would do pirate videos under the counter if you knew them well enough. And wasn't there a kfc over the road too.. And I'm sure that the cafe next to the Palmerston was a wimpy at one stage. I remember getting a knickerbocker glory and a banana split in there. Hey try mentioning those two desserts and the Levi Man in the same sentence without coming up with certain connotations..
