Advice pls on Sling/carrier for 9 mnth plus?
midivydale posted a topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi all, My ds who is 9 1/2 is going through a hard time with virus after virus. Along with teething he really is very miserable and wants me to hold him 24/7. I am doing this of course but my wrists are suffering (despite cortisone injections a couple of months ago). Does anyone know of any slings (front carrier) that would be suitable for older babies? I have a baby bjorn but it isnt great. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. -

Hi, Could you post a list of your treatments and prices? X -
Has anyone spoken to them? I have left several messages and emails and have been promised a call back from the manager but heard nothing. I am getting fed up with chasing, it doesnt fill me with much confidence but was wondering if anyone else has had more luck?

I would argue that the provision of good schools for my son and all the other local children are the number one priority. As we all know, provisions are not adequate as things stand. Would be interested to hear what Renata H thinks as Nunhead rep? Any thoughs Renata? -

James, should parents of pupils starting 2016 also be included? -
Just wondered if any of you ladies had any wise words to share. Baby ivydale has had another trip to kings today. High temp, poor breathing, bad cough etc Viral so sent home. I am just at my wits end seeing my boy so poorly. He has been ill since mid october with virus after virus. Will it ever end? Can i do something to help him or boost his immune system. According to my mother in law, my oh had multiple Chest infections as a baby. Is it heredatiry? Kings was packed today with coughing babies so realise i am not the only one but it has been going on for so long now.

Congratulations! I havent got any suggestions but hope that you get some replies fro the ladies on here. If you put SPD or PGP in the subject heading you may get some replies. Also worth doing a forum search as the topic has come up before i think. Countjc is a forumite with a wealth of knowledge on the subject, hoping that she will see this. X

From Nunhead you can walk to ED in 15-20min, and a nice walk at that through the PR-park. When we lookes at places to live we looked at honour oak, forest hill, sydenham, nunhead and brockley and i think i would have been happy in all of them.

Rose House Montessori Forest Hill -- Any thoughts?
midivydale replied to Saffron's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Interesting! My younger sister was schooled the montessori Way and it really suited her personality. I am seriously considering it for baby ivydale too but will need to wait a couple of years to decide I think. Glad you liked it saffron! -
Oh i love brockley too!

I live in Nunhead and feel that we are priviliged as we can still get full use of the ED essentials. Nunhead is a lovely area with a great community feel. There are alot of improvments being made for residents and new additions such as dish & spoon and bambuni. PR park is a short stroll away and for travel nunhead, brockley, honour oak and pr stations are all close by. I am registered with DMC still so if you are with them you dont need to change doctors. If you have children both ivydale and holyde are considered good schools. The nunhead library is a true gen with alot of activites for children. I dont want to sound like an estate agent, but nunhead really is a lovely place to live.

Thank you all. Saffron- as always so informative- thank you. Yes I am still receiving councelling and I was referred for PND. My main issues are anxiety related rather than feelings of sadness but the diagnosis was PND all the same. I remember it so clearly as I was so scared after the birth- i have never felt panic like it and that is how it started (my anxiety issues). I was referred very very soon after the birth in March (too soon in my opinion to have reached the conclusion that it was PND). A midwife at Kings sent the ball rolling I believe. Still, I wasnt seen until June and I am still getting treatment. I am miles better - truly- but the birth is yet to be discussed, strangely enough. Sorry this is off topic, just wanted to respond to saffron

I second this, I still feel very raw about my birth despite councelling. I so wish that I had been informed beforehand and I too would have jumped on the chance of a c-section and paid privately if that had been an option. I cant contemplate a number two as I am not able to get past the thoughts of the birth. I went into labour with a lavender spray and hypnocd and came out a deeply traumatised woman. It makes me teary even writing this 9 mnths on. I felt angry and let down by the 'sisterhood' as i felt someone should have told me how awful it can be. But then before you go through it, it is just words isnt it. Its the same with sleepdeprivation, until you are there it is just a word. I was in kings for a nearly a week with high blood pressure and no one made the connection that it could have been related to the stress i felt after the birth. Lavenderspray?!?! I know mine was what is described as a birth with "complications" but I am angry that there is this propoganda that a "natural birh" is always better. Natural? There was nothing natural about it, i was savaged and still violated. Oh dear- i am sorry for rambling. It makes me sad that i wasnt prepared for the trauma, feelings and painful recovery as i had been told that it all passes as soon as you have your baby. I had a highly unrealistic view of water, breathing and lavenderspray, followed by this rush of the deepest love i had ever felt. No no no no no. None of the above Oh dear i am rambling again. I just feel very raw about it. Can you insist on a c-section for your second.

You are in the right place for baby activities. Try to join the autumn babies club if you havent already as you will meet mums with babies very similar in age to yours. Www.edtots.co.uk is brilliant, i find myself logging on most weeks trying to find a new group i havent tried before. As your little one is so younf the groups are more for you than them if that makes sense. Try the crooked well crumpets on a friday morning - usually a lovely group of ladies with often young babies. Once your baby is abit older it may be fun tO try some activity based stuff but i found my baby was a sensitive little soul and easily got abit stressed out in big groups when he was younger. How about baby massage or swimming? -
