  1. Hi James84, another vote for the forest hill road practice and the attached oakwood midwives. I would recommend that before you make any decisions check that any midwife team attached to a particular surgery will be able to take on your partner. I have heard that their caseloads are so big at the moment that many teams are not able to take on pregnant women who join the surgery and only take on existing patients who get in quick. In that case, a woman would then be referred to the midwives at kings. Hope this helps.
  2. For newborns I would suggest the micralite toro with carry cot as baby can lie nice and flat as well as the carry cot being quite high up - a must for new mums with bad backs etc. It does convert into a stroller but for ease of getting around and on/off public transport, you can't beat a maclaren quest or xt. The mamas and papas Kato is a decent cheapo choice too as it lays flat and so can take a newborn as well as being a decent stroller.
  3. I hope your friend is ok. Good on the guy who came to help.
  4. Tibby, I hope you and your children are ok. Thank you for posting. Take care
  5. Hi all, will try to pop in tomorrow to catch up with you all. I finished work today and right now I feel like I could sleep the whole weekend. Where are we meeting - Green and Blue or Le Chandelier? Hope all are well, Debbie
  6. Another vote for the BT 150 monitor. Used the old version with my son and have updated to new version for no 2. Good reception, nice features and not too pricey.
  7. My husband is allergic to cat hair/saliva as well which I was not aware of when we first got together, some 13 or so years ago. At the time I had my lovely cat with me but we eventaully got to the stage where a decision had to be made - the cat had to go! I was very lucky that my mum was able to take in the cat and she stayed there until she passed away recently at the grand old age of 16. I was gutted at the time but in my opinion, a pet can not come before a person's health. Good luck with your decision.

  9. Hi pebbles, Goodrich is meant to be lovely for nursery. I have been a teacher for 15 years (much of it in nursery and reception) and I can honestly say that if your son is happy with his childminder, then it might be a good idea to keep him where he is. As long as he has experience of being away from you and lots of time to mix with other kids (one o'clock clubs, stay and play sessions in childrens centres etc) then moving onto school in the Reception year should not be too much of a problem. For many children being in a class of 26 3 and 4 year olds for a morning or an afternoon each day may not be the best way forward. I am not knocking nursery education, when it is good and can be fantastic for a child. Many areas outside of London have little or no state nursery and the children do perfectly well. Sorry to waffle on!

  17. Hi everyone, it was lovely meeting you all yesterday and the choice of the upstairs at Le Chandelier was perfect. I thought I would post now before I forget (pregnancy brain working wonders). I know we talked about another meet up next Saturday or the following Saturday, I can make Sat 21st if anyone is around - would be more than happy to do same place and time or somewhere else if we need a toddler friendly venue.
