  1. I think Half Life and I should meet up and go bowling sometime
  2. If "Terrific" is Cockney rhyming slang for horrific, then I feel terrific
  3. Greetings Sports Fans So the big day is finally upon us. Looking forward to what will surely be an Olympic event. Please ensure you're at the Plough for no later than 2 o'clock in order for us to get the Clockhouse drinks order sorted. We will be in the Plough from Noon limbering up in the Barry Barry style. Weather is here, wish you were lovely... Lasers, Malky, Charge etc Barry Barry Love SB
  4. DC - gutted you can't make it. I guess 2012 will have to be your fallow year. Back bigger and stronger in 2013 what what! Everybody else - see ya on the starting line. all we can promise are good times and hangovers. Barry Barry Love Surfbobby
  5. The Barry Barry Rum The genius continues. HMB - you're my hero Race day info attached Barry Barry Bob
  6. Ahem, Greetings again Sports Fans Quite clearly I must have already been practising the drinking part of the race when I posted the date announcement earlier. For those keen readers that spotted my mistake - well done, gold medals all round. And for those who that didn't, fear not; we have not increased the alcohol consumption to 4 Pints and 4 Shorts as previously listed. It remains, as it always has, at 1 Pint (or 1 half pint or 1 bottle for those that want to) and 1 Shot in each pub. Apologies for any inconvenience caused Surfbobby
  7. Greetings Sports Fans 1448 Meters 4 Pints 4 Shots 2 Pubs 2 Bears No Buses!!! It can only be - The 5th Annual Barry Barry Road Race or as it is known this year - The 1st Olympic Barry Barry Road Race. The date of our fun filled, action packed, drink fueled, sport orientated (yeah right), family friendly event is - Saturday 21st July 2012. This, good people, is the Unofficial Opening Ceremony. We are in no way in competition with the other London sporting event that kicks off a week later, but in fact we are an enhancer to it. Our energies, passion and considerable tolerance for alcohol consumption will help keep alight the Olympic torch as it makes its way through our fair towns and cities. We shall do our bit (more likely much more than our bit) to kick start the London party atmosphere into a high performance gear with what I hope will be another highly successful day of laughter, merriment and fancy dress with a little sport thrown in for a double measure. We have never had a themed BBRR before so here's hoping you can take the Olympic Spirit (which doesn't count as one of your shots by the way) into your hearts and on to the streets (well one in particular) of East Dulwich. Here's to another great day, see ya on the starting line Please see attached for details Olympic Love Surfbobby
  8. some more photos, hopefully all can access http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150239430096863.319967.595206862&l=a61430b366&type=1
  9. Would just like to add my thanks to everybody involved in making Saturday a truly tremendous day. I think that may have been the best one yet but to be fair they've all been pretty amazing days that do just seem to get better and better. Keep an eye out for the Southwark News on Thursday.... I would also just like to say that picture 50 from Caroline's Photbox may suggest that I was boarding a bus but I was merely inspecting the passengers to ensure that there were no competitors on the cheat. And of course there was not. Thanks again Sports Fans, please return your Laser settings to stun Surfbobby aka Barry Barry Bob
  10. Greetings Sports Fans Well the time is almost upon us, however there is still some time to fit in some last minute training. Myself and Help Ma Boab are currently in Eastbourne cramming in some sprint drinking training. The weather is of course once again looking Barry and we should be in for a Full Tilt Boogie day of fun. So ensure your lasers are on chare tonight and set them to Malky in the morning and we'll see ya at the starting line. Gun goes off at 3, drinks orders need to be in by 2. We'll be in the Plough from 12. Run Safe Barry Barry Bob
  11. Of Course Vilmos, you can - but you'd be only cheating yourself. However the Co-Organiser Help-Ma-Boab did exactyly the same thing last year, much to the disgust of all the hard working and even harder drinking competitors. Perhaps you could go for the alternativen option, also employed by HMB on the first year, drink your drinks at the Plough, amble down in a gentile fashion to the clock house and never actually finish your shot - therefore still be in the race 4 years later. There is no time limit to complete, so take full advantage I say. A fair few of this years runners and riders are all just back from a fabulous few days in North Italy's Trieste Traing Camp and I must admit, it looks like there could be a requirement for a photo finish this year. Can't wait friends, see ya at the starting line... Surfbobby aka Barry Barry Bob
  12. Greetings Sports Fans The time has come to announce the date for the event that has become a firm favourite fixture in the South London Social Scene; The 4th Annual Barry Barry Road Race. This years date is to be Saturday 23rd of July and we hope to see as many, if not more of you as last year. Last year saw nearly 50 runners with more than that turning up for spectating, supporting and general merriment which was just fantastic. I have been reliably informed by the good people of the Clockhouse that they will have a highly skilled team of bar ninjas in ready support to provide the essential replacement fluids required after such an arduous event. Also on site there is the high chance of an outdoor bottle bar and BBQ. Additionally a late licence may be in operation, all of which will help top off what is hopefully shaping up to be another fun filled, family friendly, full tilt boogie extravaganza. In preparation myself, Help Ma Boab, Evel Knievel and a select squad of ED athletes are taking ourselves off to Portugal for a 10 day training camp. It should also be noted that after last year's "Bus Incident" Help Ma Boab has employed the services of ex military types to whip him into shape. Any serious competitors seeking an advantage over one of their fellow runners can chart HMB's progress every Wednesday evening in Peckham Rye Park. He can be easily identified by his Blue bib, long arms and more than likely he'll be doing 'ladies' press ups. Please leave your bus passes at home people! If anyone is in contact with last years winners can you please ask them to return the Barry Barry Bears to the Clockhouse. So get training folks, the game is afoot, the Bears are returning home and glory is within easy reach. Please see attached for further details. Starters gun will go off at 3PM from the Plough, with warm up drinks for those serious competitors starting from whenever the Plough opens...Or the Friday night in Eastbourne for the North of Scotland Tennis campaigners. See ya on the start line folks... Surfbobby
  13. Does anyone know anywhere in the neighbourhood that will be showing the boxing on Saturday? The Hamelts put on a great spread for the Hatton Pac fight. Be great if that was on again
  14. Jeezo - totally for got to thank Mark the photy taker, great work sir!
  15. Hello again Sports Fans Just a quick note from me to say an absolute huge thanks to everyone who turned up, helped out and wished well. This was certainly my favourite Barry so far and it looks like they're only getting better. Congrats of course to the winners but also to everyone else who was taken apart. Gotta give some special love to The Dudes in the flip flops, not for running in crazy footwear but for having a White Russian as the drink of choice at the finish line. Pure class of the highest variety, Help Ma Boab n I approve wholeheartedly. And of course to Evil Kenevel who ran in the Gorilla suit, he's spent the last 2 days in MacDonalds trying to regain some of the weight lost during the race. Thanks to Rufus who put us through our paces with the specialised warm up, keeping the 'Safety First' ethos of the race alive and of course to our lovely starting gun announcer Aodan who's photo above steals the show for me (he's the one in what he claims is not a mankini). John and Sue (mainly Sue), huge effort on your part and you shall be so rewarded, probably in Guinness. And finally (not bad for a quick note eh) SMB Barry and the bar staff of the Plough n Clockhouse, big thanks to you and see you next year. Hope there's not too much Monday DOOM around, if there is, just go back and look at Aodan's photo again Thanks to everyone, see ya next year for BBRR 2011 ps - Help Ma Boab got the bus. WTF is all that about??? Barry Barry Love Surfbobby
  16. Greetings Runners and Riders Having just spent the last month in various African training camps I am proud to report that I am in a worse condition than when I went out. This of course is perfect preperation for the 3rd annual Barry Barry Road Race which is shaping up to be a jolly decent day out if not the mecca for highly tuned sprinting machines, which previous years has seen. There will be fierce competition for the Peoples Champion prize with the winner of the 1st year's accolade facing off against the winner of last year's Peoples Champion. Dolly versus Ari - keep your eyes on this one folks, its sure to be a nailbiter. Well folks, I just wanted to check in and make sure that you'll all be limbered up and lubed out in all the right places for the starters gun at 2pm from the Plough on Saturday 24th July. Of course, as always, there will be various warm up excercises in the Plough starting from mid day. Very much looking forward to seeing you all again and of course any new participants. The World Cup is due for a new name on the trophy, can the same be said for the Barry Barry Bear? We shall see... See ya at the start line Surfbobby
  17. Greetings Sports Fans Back by popular demand for the 3rd year in a row - The Barry Barry Road Race 2010 Ooooh Yeah!!!!!!! The event is to be held in July for the first time due to literally a million different factors, apologies to those who were hoping for a June date. So please place a big ole bookmark in your diaries for SATURDAY JULY 24TH! As per standard, early drinkers can get their groove on from 12 o'clock at the Plough. The gun is due to go off at 2PM but if the last years are anything to go by, this time can be considered fairly loose. Thanks very much to the walking, breathing legend that is SMB and his prizes, very kind, again. Help Ma Boab, Evel Kenevel and myself are very much looking forward to seeing all of you again, and as always, any help/support (ie Clockhouse drink buyers) are most appreciated. I believe it was Anna and co who did a marvelous job last year. Mr Ben, the official race correspondent, we'll try and sort out a press pass for you and Seany - expecting big things from you this year. I've got a feeling that the Peoples Champion Prize may be coming back to ED this year. So thanks very much folks, get training - those pints aren't gonna down themselves. See ya at the starting line Barry Barry Love Surfbobby PS - anyone seen the Bear?
  18. Glad to see that the Barry Barry Build up has started already. We had a great turn out last year and depending on this year's success we are confidant that our Olympic event place is secure. Event date to follow shortly Surfbobby aka cool cat in the shades hogging all the limelight - Brilliant!
  19. Well I've certainly felt better before, however it was all well worth it. Again big thanks to SMBarry for the prizes and to Anna et al for helping organise what turned out to be a great day of fun. Well done to Paul for taking home the Bear again and thanks to everyone who turned up, took part and cheered on. See y'all next year for more of the same B) SB
  20. Marj ma man Come on down on Sat and cheer us on. Join us for a few afterwards and if your lucky, and I mean really lucky, Help Ma Boab will take you home and show you his winners medal
  21. Good Morning Sports Fans, This mornings note is just a gentle reminder that next Saturday 13th June sees the 2nd Barry Barry Road Race back in action for another year. Hopefully your training has gone according to plan and we are now all able to down pints and run for 0.8 miles without breaking a sweat or being sick. Lovely Jubbly. For those who are planning on attending could you please repl or pp me back and let me know if you are running or supporting (also known as professionally drinking). It'd be good to get an idea of numbers and of course we need volunteers for support staff (people who get the 2nd lot of drinks in). The die hard competitors amongst us will be meeting at the Plough at 12pm for a thorough warm up (at least 2 pints) with the starters gun planned to go off at 1pm. Hope to see you on the starting line Bary Barry Bob
  22. Just to say that the Hamlets was an excellent venue for the boxing. A tenner to get in mind but bar was open all the way through and was still going strong when I stumbled out at 0630. Also the Gentleman's evening was a surprise bonus....
  23. Just checked with EDT and its a no go (don't have the late licence). However the ole dog that is The Hamlets have confirmed that they're showing it for a ?10 cover charge that will include a few wee somethings thrown in. Rumble Lets Ready Get to (rearrange at will)
  24. Cheers folks, am on the case, will let you know...
