  1. Try Freedom Academy, up to age 19 http://freedomacademy.co.uk/7-to-19-years
  2. 11 sounds like you are in with a chance. We were number 10 for DVI and got a place in late August.
  3. We did a different session and my 7 y.o. loved it so much that I booked a workshop at home for her birthday party.
  4. Just William toy shop probably do them.
  5. How about folk share their views on parents that don't immunise their children? That should liven things up!
  6. That sounds reasonable. I presume there is a monthly fee and/or registration fee on top which might make it less reasonable?
  7. What's the pricing for this? There's no mention of that on the web site.
  8. Dulwich Library has copies of the primary school guidebook in the kids library
  9. The former site of the New Hope Christian Academy is up for rental. This is all set up as a school and seems an ideal choice for a primary school. Is this a viable option for a new school? This school is just off Lordship Lane, at 31 East Dulwich Grove, a number 37 bus stop is more or less outside it I think.
  10. A steel-pan teacher in a local primary school IS a 'proper teacher'.
  11. Dudley - I found your post very informative, thank you for sharing. I have been encouraging my 4 year old to be more responsible for packing her bottle of water and snacks in her own backpack before we go out. We haven't quite sorted out dressed on her own yet but hopefully that will come in time as she doesn't start school till September 2013 so it's not really too important just yet.
  12. In addition to the supplementary form, you also have to meet the priest for a written reference to support your application. The dates for this have now passed so I think it would be a wasted choice of school listing this on the CAF.
  13. Try Cook! in West Dulwich - I received their xmas menu through the post and it looks like a very hassle-free way to cook Xmas dinner. I'm toying with either ordering from there or going out to eat as I am working all during the christmas period, so can't really face a day of non-stop cooking and washing up! http://www.cookfood.net/menu/cook-menu/christmas
  14. Thanks for the info = I've checked out the location and can't easily get there on public transport which is a shame as it sounds like a great market.
  15. This is standard practice for all private schools to ask for the deposit well ahead of the state school places being offered. If you are in a position to do so, then you pay the deposit now and forfeit it should you be able to get the state school place that you require.
  16. The website says: Santa's Vintage Christmas Grotto Dulwich is run as a partnership between Whippersnappers and the owners of the local business, Bleu Furniture. This company has been established for over 14 years and specialises in vintage furniture. I am sure Bleu Furniture are lining their Pockets a fair bit!
  17. I appreciate it is a lot of work to get something like this off the ground but the entry price for a 30 minute event is way beyond what I would want to spend on a visit to Santa, despite all the little extras on offer (excluding the photo!) However, I am sure the event will be well attended despite the hefty price tag.
  18. You have to purchase the photo with Santa, that is not included as part of the deal which seems pretty mean given the high entry price!
  19. I'd like to sell some homemade arts and crafts at a local school Christmas fair. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good fair that has spaces for a stallholder? I think the budget can only stretch to one fair so I want to try and pick the right one! All the items I am selling are ?12 or under - tote bags, mugs and maybe handmade Christmas cards.
  20. Slightly off topic but has anyone been to the amateur music group that meets locally? I am thinking about taking up the piano again and it would be good to meet some fellow adult learners.
  21. The name of the chair of governors is usually available in the OFSTED report. My primary school has the list of all their governors on the web site. I am sure lots of other primary schools do but I don't know about secondary schools.
  22. You can't apply early for Reception Year so there's probably no point worrying about it, especially if you don't know if you will be in the area. You apply one year before your child starts Reception (the academic year they turn 5). It's not like private nurseries where you have to sign up before your child is born!
  23. My daughter got her scooter around age 2 and it took her a while to master, around age 3 till she got the hang of steering it! She still doesn't really use the brake properly, prefers to put her foot down :o
  24. Mini Micro scooter is the one that most kids have! http://www.micro-scooters.co.uk/category/ages-2-5/?src=home
  25. I gave my French niece a pink olympic bag and she loves it. You can buy lots of Olympic merchandise in the big Sainsburys. I doubt school kids are too bothered about politics if it means they get something cool from Britain!
