Anyone done a 'laser tag' party?
Beaky replied to Lucyalexandra's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son recently went to Bunker 51 in Greenwich and loved it (he did paint balling) - said best party ever - he has also been to the place in Bromley which seems to be very popular for Year 3/4. -
Anyone else have problems with their mobiles cutting out even though it shows you have a signal - I'm on EE and it does it daily in my house for no apparent reason - wondered if anyone experienced the same thing?

My daughter is under Dr Braithwaite at Kings and I will second the use of Aveeno. We use it daily. They have a shower gel and moisturising lotion which both work really well.

Posh lunch / dinner up town with kids?
Beaky replied to nunheadmum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I have 2 kids aged 8 & 11 and they love Balthazar and The Delaunay in Covent Garden both good food, a little bit posh but not over the top and very welcoming to children for lunch/early evening! -
Cape Verde - 2 hours south of Canaries, very underdeveloped but hotels good with kids club if you want one. Great beaches and much warmer than Canaries. Cheaper than Dubai too. Lots of hotels have family rooms with separate bedroom etc

Went in at lunchtime today to pick up my Click and Collect which I ordered yesterday. Very simple and in and out in 5 mins. You can tell the schools have gone back. Very pleasant experience and saves a trip to Brixton.

Has anyone recently bought a suit for a boy?
Beaky replied to Goodliz's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I got one from Next for my son a year ago for a wedding - has lasted well - you could always use their dark school trousers and put together with a smart shirt and tie and omit the jacket if you are able to - they would still look really smart -
Where to go for a 'cool' haircut for my teenage son?
Beaky replied to sillywoman's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We go to the Barbers in Dulwich Village - my son always has a great haircut there - he thinks they are cool -
We had a scooter heavily vandalised last week at 8.30pm under a street lamp. They removed the top box and took the front panel off with the ignition - they are so brazen. Insurance has gone though the roof on claims over the last couple of years. Again police said the same thing - they can't chase them. She did say get descriptions of helmets and number plates so that they can see what they have on file. Not sure what else to do on the security front as scooter has everything - ideas welcome!!

Beaky replied to Legally Blonde's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I recommend Lucy Thomas who runs her own private family mediation practice. She is based in Dulwich but works across South East London. She is a former family solicitor but now works as a full time mediator and is a member of Family Mediation Association (FMA), Family Mediation Council (FMC) and Resolution. Her website address is www.lucythomasmediation.co.uk Phone: 07493 611100 Hope that helps -

Children's entertainer for a 4 year old

Mr Marvel - have been to lots of his parties and the kids love them - very well run -
I have put both my children through HH from kindergarten to Year 2 and they loved it - such a nurturing school and both cried when they left (last one this year) Both my children were luckily enough to be given offers to all the local prep schools so we could choose at that stage which one we felt was right based on their personality and ability. I would highly recommend it. Please pm me if you would like further info

Nurseries in Dulwich/Herne Hill - Advice appreciated
Beaky replied to alexjj80's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Under the Willow in West Dulwich/Herne Hill is good - they are eco friendly too!! -
You can hire a hall and someone like Football Magic can come in and run the party - we've been to a couple and they are very good at keeping the boys entertained and under control!!

I was in The Florence yesterday in Herne Hill - rugby on big screens with sound all afternoon - they are showing all the games apparently

Puerta Pollensa, Mallorca - recommendations please!
Beaky replied to Bishberro's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have been to Majorca over the last few years and really like it, it's very family friendly too. We have always gone through Owners Direct and never had any problems. You can choose from apartments or villas and see locations on the map or just use google maps to really pin point where you are. We prefer the old town of Pollensa as it is a lovely old town with some great restaurants which are all family friendly. There are lots of villas within 5 min drive of the old town and then only 10 mins drive to the beach. -
The lights on Townley Road are a disaster waiting to happen at the moment. Whilst one side goes green the children cross into the middle then the other side goes green but you can't cross as you have cars and coaches turning from East Dulwich Grove into Townley Road. I cross with my children thankfully but there are numerous other children who are 10/11 walking to school on their own who don't know when its safe as cars are travelling through the lights when its supposed to be safe for the children to cross. They need re setting back to how they used to be.

Parents with a daughter at Ducks and Herne Hill (and Rosemead)
Beaky replied to Amasco's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Love Herne Hill School. Currently have a son there in year 2 and daughter who left 2 years ago. I cannot fault the teaching staff and not once have they complained about going to school. They get so much out of them and really develop them into rounded individuals. As a small child I think they have enough space to run around. The new hall to the school will be amazing for the children coming into it from Sept 15. Happy to talk further if you want to pm me
