  1. Hubby went to get fish and chips from Joseph's last Friday. Long queues outside - was told by someone in queue , that orders were taking an hour to process. Hubby went across road to Chinese instead. Will try again earlier in the week. We usually drive down to Emily's in North Cross Road. Ahmed is very popular and has reasonable prices- good to chat and catch up with his family news whilst waiting for our order to cook.
  2. We have used Gary several times - today he fitted a light sensor over our front door. A couple of weeks ago he installed a new set of ceiling lights and renewed a light switch. Very helpful, clean and tidy and reasonable price.
  3. Christ Church has a cafe (Bread of Life) which is opened each weekday - times are on the door. Much cheaper than Harry's. New fish and chip shop is reportedly expensive £14 50 for cod and chips. Not sure what else is on the menu. People this end of LL and Barry have frequently moaned about the lack of chippies - Nearest is opposite Grove Tavern.
  4. Dulwich Hill SNT are now fully staffed and will be having a 'drop in' session at Christ Church Barry Road on Monday 6th March 10 am - 12 midday. Come along for a friendly chat, raise concerns, etc.
  5. We tried to do this some time ago but the pharmacy were very reluctant to do so. Had prescription from Kings following an operation and had to inject myself for a couple of weeks. Took unused needles back to Kings Pharmacy who refused to take them , local pharmacy would not take as issued by Kings. In the end hubby had an OP appointment at Kings so just handed then over to nursing staff at the clinic.
  6. When I past the shop yesterday - the doors were open and could see the workmen/women installing shelves etc. Still very much a shell.
  7. I find it very difficult when replying to private messages - not clear which box you have to complete can you simplify this.
  8. If so, come along to meet your Safer Neighbourhood Police Team. Meeting at Christ Church Barry Road (opposite Plough PH) Weds, 22nd Feb. at 6.30pm. Please see message below from Simon who is one of the officers on the team. Good Evening Below is a link to the Dulwich Hill ward survey, I would be very grateful if you could pass this link on to your contacts you may have who live or work on the ward. This will give us a better picture of what residents ect concerns are and what priorities to set for the next quarter. https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/IBTGN8/ Thank you for your help in this matter Kind regards PCSO Simon Johnson (7125AS)
  9. I suspect that when scheme starts - Southwark will ask that 'traffic attendants/control' be in attendance to write a few parking notices and possibly police presence. I know in the past - police officers have been around at opening/closing times to talk with parents - works well for a couple of days then goes pack to normal.
  10. I thought HSBC in Peckham closed late last year. Why not try local shop keepers - they may wish to change up their own change for some notes.
  11. I will continue to use Farmers as the prices are reasonable, but will amble in to Poundland when it opens to see what it can offer. Generally speaking Poundland and its ilk,do not sell everything for £1 but you still get bargains there- children's party bags, toothpaste, party hats and serviettes. Sachets of cat/dog food. etc East Dulwich had pockets of poor housing/poverty/ malnutrition etc long before the current cost of living crisis. I grew up in ED and in the 60s and 70s lived in Spurling Road, with no bathroom and an outside loo which was shared with another family. Privately rented accommodation which was twice designated for slum clearance along with other houses in the street (due to dampness /mould/ poor sanitation). Yet the same houses are still standing - obviously refurbished and updated. Back to the subject - if a Poundland does well in terms of revenue- great. It will also offer employment to local people.
  12. Post on Friday - bank statements for December/January. plus hospital letter dated 14th November.
  13. Would be interested in where you ordered your 'new build from' My son in law is going to look at what Argos have as new stock expected. I am not IT savvy so would have to get an expert in to install programmes and transfer my existing files and hotmail account over to new machine.
  14. if you think this lady is a 'scammer' perhaps a word with your local Safer Neighbourhood Police Team if you have an idea where she lives (or walks dogs)
  15. My old Compac Tower hard drive is proving to be too slow for many of the programmes I need to access. Need to upgrade to a Tower hard drive capable of taking Windows 10. Would like to keep my monitor and keyboard. Not keen on the 'all in one' type. Currys/PC world now sell more laptops that desk based and are also very low on all stock (according to grandson who works there). Argos seem to have brands I have never heard of i.e. Horizon. I use my PC mainly for emails, writing reports, playing solitaire, downloading articles and of course EDF. Also have several USB for other professional re ports. I have WI FI in the house. Any suggestions where I can go to purchase new tower other than Argos/PC world.? Not keen on ordering on line due to postal difficulties - but can pick up if reasonable local.
  16. A neighbour put his tree in our garden as thought it would be collected along with rubbish. However it was not. We have said if it is not collected next week he will have to make alternative arrangements.
  17. The East Dulwich Community Centre was approached by Barclays, who were offered some hours to meet at the centre. However, Barclays did not get back to them.
  18. Billy and his team replaced our boiler and water heaters last week. Very thorough, tidy, and very reasonable cost. Am glad we followed up on all the recommendations.
  19. This guy is very well known to Dulwich Hill SNT- following a previously reported incident, the team were looking for CCTV evidence before taking the next step. Please report this incident.
  20. Dulwich Hill SNT were alerted recently about similar incidents in Friern Road. Please contact them re Barry Road.
  21. Post arrived today in Barry Road - letters dated 30th October. Still no sign of a replacement bank card as current one runs out this month.
  22. A friend who lives in Champion Hill, has for years used henna to colour her hair and found a local hairdresser to do this for her. Unfortunately this hairdresser has retired so my friend is looking for an alternative colourist. Friend is Canadian and has used henna for over 30 years as it does not cause any allergic reactions. She has mobility problems and needs to take mini cabs everywhere. She is not able to apply this herself and usually has her hair cut at the same time. Anybody know of a reasonably local hair salon who would offer this service?
  23. If you are a resident or have a business in Dulwich Hill Ward - come along and meet your ward police officers. Meeting commences at 6.30 pm in the cafe area of Christ Church Barry Road. Wednesday 9th November 2022.
  24. We too have been trying to contact Billy etc - left 3 messages on phone (both numbers). They have such good recommendations so must be very busy.
  25. Check with them if they have a 'polluting car' as if they do not they will not have to pay. My daughter comes up from Sussex for a couple of days and does not have to pay the charge. You can check on the website whether your car will be charged - all you need to do is put in registration number. My car is 16 years old and I do not have to pay the charge.
