All depends on what you call reasonably priced! Was it for Christmas Day? Noticed that The Plough were advertising Christmas Lunches but did not see any prices listed.

We purchased our 4 bed semi in ED in 1975 it had been reduced by £500 for quick sale and was £16,500!, Original owner lived on first floor but let out rooms downstairs. We had to do considerable redecoration and some alterations to adapt it to 3 elderly relatives with mobility issues, plus myself, partner and toddler. I was joint owner with my elderly aunt and after her death, we had to get a small mortgage to pay out some of her bequests. My neighbour's house was on the market for £1.4 million but his place was far better condition than mine. I agree that many folk are asset rich but cash poor .

Anyone else having issues with The Gardens Surgery
Pugwash replied to MaryT's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The incident I quoted on 28th October - I had to pick up some forms for blood test and happened to mention my leg to the receptionist whilst I was there. Fully expected to be given an appointment - and was surprised that I was passed to one of the practice nurses who obviously felt the situation was urgent hence the TJ appointment. Went for flu jab recently and seen by Mem HCA. Have seen him a few times now for routine BP/Diabetic checks- Very easy to get on with and gives you time. -
We have an old fashioned high cistern downstairs toilet which had an unreliable flush. Niko had to make up one part as no longer available commercially. Syphon was ancient and Niko spent time locating replacement from local shops and internet. Eventually found a suitable replacement and called round one evening to fix it. Also cleared out a very blocked sink.

Our greyhounds had coats - padded ones for the winter. vets and animal charities recommend coats for smooth haired dogs especially. Have you looked a the Dog Charities web sites? PDSA. The Dog Trust, RSPCA, Battersea etc.

Daughter was using her sat nav to get to unfamiliar area and was not aware she was driving down a school street until she got a £90 fine in the post. She went back to the area and the signs were very poorly placed and partially covered by trees.

New Shops in East Dulwich and Nearby - 2025 Edition
Pugwash replied to Joe's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I notice they also do chicken burgers as well. I just cannot stand beef burgers - there is something in the way they are prepared that disagree with me. Having had 3 hospital admissions and being on drips following eating certain foods. I now only eat chicken, fish and veggie and touch wood not had a reoccurrence of previous issues. -
The guy in Pellatt Road only covered Apple and he gave me the number of the guy who did Microsoft, The Ben Leach fellow seems to live outside London?

There used to be a computer repair place in Bassano Street is it still there> Anyone know of a computer tech person who will come to house to repair/update PCs? I was recommended someone from EDF many years ago who came and installed all the programmes on my new PC.

Be interesting to find whether they do veggie burgers. -
I have a feeling that one of these roads is a one way/no entry - have not tried this route for sometime.
-
I need to drive to Bellenden Road via Maxted Road - if I cannot use this area I have no other option to get to Highshore Road. Most remember to try and get vet appointments after 10 am and after 4 pm.
-
I believe those particular shop frontages belong to the freeholders rather than to the council and that the council's bit of the pavement is the narrow uneven bit with the massive trees planted in it. Frontage areas are usually set out in the lease/rental agreement but they need to obtain a licence from Southwark to install tables and chairs outside. I cannot see Southwark agreeing for tables and chairs placed right up the edge of the road. Recall some time ago that council ordered an establishment to remove table and chairs as they had not been granted a licence.

Mugging on Dunstans Road 12/11/25
Pugwash replied to Frenchpolisher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Dunstans Road comes under Dulwich Hill SNT- you can get their details on the Met Police website . I know that the Police are often patrolling Dawson Hights. Please contact them, -
Yes. Buses were stopping 3- 4 feet away from the pavement (also happens nowadays due to parking) on one occasion, people waiting at the bus stop had to assist me
-
Agree - we use the vet in Highshore Road, which is one way and approached by another one way scheme. There is no way other than Bellenden Road that we could access this road. You cannot drive through Peckham High Street to access many of the roads in this area.

Do not want pavements widening in all of LL. There are a few places that would benefit this but if you are driving there are sections of the road which could not cope with certain widths of vehicles i.e 2 buses going in opposite directions. Pavement widening in these areas would not beneficial. The difficulty outside Oro is the number of bikes on the bike stands there - some which have fallen down reducing pavement space. This plus prams etc and outside seating add to the narrowness. People who use mobility scooters which cannot legally be used on the road, find certain areas too narrow with competing prams, pedestrians, and outdoor seating at cafes. Outside Farmers the pavement is uneven. from Franklins to Whatley Road - chairs and tables have encroached the pavement so much leaving pedestrians/wheelchair/Mobility scooters reduced areas. I am against the return of the Covid Widening scheme- I found that where it was near bus stops, buses could not draw up close to pavements and those like myself reliant on walking aids found it difficult to board and alight due to the drop.

Are you back to living in ED or still in Devon but coming back to London for medical treatment? You can google the Met Police and get the SNT details of whatever ward applies. What I gather from our Cuppa with a Copper session yesterday, they have done welfare checks at the resident's address. The email you sent - was it to a general address as I understand that this 'central information base' then gets filtered down to individual SNT teams,
-
Can you give me more details relating to your firm.
-
If you look at all the Cuppa with Copper in ED they are all during the day - the Dulwich Village SNT hold theirs at various venues. If a resident has concerns and cannot get to meet the team, they can arrange a home visit. I know a couple of the officers have called upon people at their home. Many of the residents are now linked to Met Engage and receive regular updates from the police. What council guy are you talking about? There were also Mums/childminders with young children there who also briefly spoke with a couple of the officers,

We have always gone during the week at lunch time - great place and good value. Husband has been several times on his own and owner knows his first name. I could not go one time for some reason and she sent him home with some spring rolls (free)
-
We did but they would not budge. Anyway this was last year - things may have changed and staff may be different. It was a man who served us.
