Looking to buy or adopt a dog
Pugwash replied to sarahsouthlondon's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have had 4 greyhounds - the last one, a bitch, was not speyed so we had to pay for that at our local vet. Only one dog was nervous around children and only one was cat friendly. -
Have you signed up at any Temp Agencies?

Garden clearance and shed dismantling
Pugwash replied to The clipper's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Cameron is very good, he landscaped our back garden a couple of years ago and also did our front drive. -
Because of the weather which delayed completion with roofer only being able to work certain days, it was up from November - end of January. Went slightly higher than gutters (we also had guttering replaced).

Health Matters in L Lane have a number of practitioners working from there - might include a dietician.. When I was first diagnosed with Type 11 diabetes some 15/20 years ago, I saw a dietician at Kings. I did not need to take medication for this condition until 18 months ago.

£14,000 last year which included £500 for scaffolding.

Maggie Browning usually very good responding to emails. Roving surgeries - we got a letter some time ago that they were in Barry Road between certain times - but neither neighbours of ourselves saw them. Face to face surgeries rarely held now due to violent attacks on MPS and Councillors.

My daughter, a single parent, has been let down by her children's' father, who was supposed to have them for part of the school holidays, So we are helping out. Our grand daughter aged 11 is no problem, but 9year old is more difficult to please. Has an interest in computers and coding, does not like crowds (neurodiverse) Is keen n how things work and enjoys taking things apart. He is already going to the transport museum and has been to the science museum Husband and I have some mobility problems so nothing too strenuous. have done Horniman's a number of times. Is there any local holiday schemes where we can enrol him in for 2/3 days. There seems to be a number relating to singing/dancing and drama but nothing science/maths based. He does not have an interest in sport at the moment. Grand children live in Sussex and will be attending Holiday Clubs for a couple of weeks

Moped crash scams around Barry Road/Underhill/Goodrich
Pugwash replied to Katie B a's topic in Roads & Transport
Friern Road and Goodrich Roads come under Dulwich Hill SNT = was it this team you reported the incident to? At the last SNT meeting, they announced that the crash for scams happenings seem to be tailing off. I agree that coming from Goodrich and turning into Friern is very difficult due to poor visibility at that junction. Best thing to do is ring the police and not get into discussion with the bike rider. A few people have done this and the moped/bike rider have quickly left the scene. -
My daughter is a teacher for 14-18 year olds, If she wanted to start a new job or leave teaching in September, she would have to hand in her notice at the beginning of the summer term. However, she is in West Sussex so may have different contracts, Also she specialises in Special Needs which is a 'shortage area'

Our residents' association used to have keys many moons ago, but when locks were changed, we tried everyone (including ward councillors) to get keys to no avail. A couple of boards are not locked. The Community Councils originally paid for all the notice boards in Dulwich. May have come under the Cleaner Greener budget.

Originally when the Community Notice Boards were installed, one key opened all within a certain area. As these got vandalised,, new locks were put on and keys changed.

Hubby had to retire from work due to serious ill health which had meant he was off work for several months at a time. His hospital consultant advised part time employment only, Signed on at Job Centre and asked them to send him on courses, especially IT has not computer literate or had a computer. Job Centre refused and insisted he applied for full time work even though he produced medical evidence from hospital and letter from previous employment detailing the reason why had medically retired him. He applied for the (then) disability allowance but was refused as not disabled enough and the fact he could work part time. Applied f or several part time jobs but when they knew of his medical history turned him down. That was 18 years ago. Disabled people who want to work find it hard to find employment. I studied Disability and Employment in Holland as part of my degree and found at that time, the Dutch system more flexible. If a disabled person found a job part time, they still received a portion of their benefit as well as wages. If found a full time position, benefit suspended and were subject to regular reviews as to how they performed in the job. If there were no problems, benefit was withdrawn, however if they found the work was not suited to their disability - they gave up work and went straight back to receiving their full benefit. If a disabled person finds employment, their benefits stop immediately. If they cannot maintain the work and are sacked, getting back onto benefits is very difficult, Give those who are able to work at least part time, the opportunity to have reduced benefits to top up wages.

Trickle of cold water this morning, but by 3 pm we have both hot and cold water with normal pressure, Hopefully this will continue.
-
Seems to be back on now although pressure reduced especially for hot water via boiler. Hopefully I can have a shower in the morning.

Good - when I went out this morning, there was nobody there.

Looking to buy or adopt a dog
Pugwash replied to sarahsouthlondon's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have had a number of ex racing greyhounds. Very much couch potatoes, but require walking at least twice a day. Not all of them are cat friendly. Contact the Greyhound Trust. -
have been without water since early morning - cannot see anyone from Thames Water working on the situation. Any one heard any news as to when normal service will resume?
