The Woodwarde Road clinic has got so expensive - £74 for 10/15 minutes nail cutting, Earlier in the year I paid £68. Does anyone know of a cheaper clinic? Have friends who are on basic pensions and benefits who are finding it hard to finance these costs. NHS funded podiatry is virtually non existence - even if diabetic - you face long waits.

I reported a scam roofing firm to Southwark Trading Standards - they were very helpful. They also wanted us to check CCTV and video doorbells of local buildings to send to them. Unfortunately both devices did not film beyond their front doors. Trading Standards work closely with the police.

Good luck with this - it is getting harder than ever to do an infant observation, I did mine at a local nursery as I needed to observe a child from 9 months - 3years. Mine was weekly for 3 months, It is surprising what you can observe during that one hour. I continued to use my observational skills throughout my 21 year professional career, After I retired, I returned to University and trained as a Practice Educator and went on to have 5 students and encouraged them not just to listen but to observe their 'clients 'body languages/ environment/ relationships with others. I would urge parents/caregivers to participate - you will be surprised how much more you will understand about your child and their development,

Regardless of who 'owns' the bin- the organisation regularly comes to empty it and clear up the area. They were there today (Weds)

Where to take a 9 year old during summer holiday.
Pugwash replied to Pugwash's topic in The Family Room Discussion
As both my husband and I did not have siblings, family is important to us- as it happens we have 3 daughters. Grandchildren (8) from 9 - 30 plus great grandchildren 3 and 6. We consider ourselves lucky to have good relationships with all. -
Where to take a 9 year old during summer holiday.
Pugwash replied to Pugwash's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Re previous post. . Our youngest grandchildren only come up to London around 4 times a year and usually stay overnight. This holiday was different as their father in Liverpool had just changed jobs and had difficulties in getting time off for the 2 weeks he normally has the children for in the summer holidays so everything was up the wall. Daughter had booked a few days away (she had not had a holiday for 3 years) and we were the backup if all had failed with Dad. As it happened, he could not get much time off, but his new partner looked after the children most of the time. We had the children for a few nights to support our daughter. We normally travel to Sussex to meet up with everyone (either by train or car) Whilst we have our own health issues (physical) for our emotional health it is important that we play a significant part in our grandchildren's life, Our eldest grandson (30) is very close to his grandfather who supported him emotionally and practically since he was a teenager. Grandson is now has a 6 year old son, named after his grandfather, and credits his paternal/fathering skills etc to us grandparents. -

Can you still just drop in to Kings Walk in Xray?
Pugwash replied to sunbob's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Last time I had an Xray several years ago, my GP gave me a form and I had to make an appointment with Kings on line. -
The one at the Plough is not for rags officially but the stuff that people leave is variable.

The following was sent to me via SNT Dulwich Hill. Anti Social Behaviour Concern Update I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti Social Behaviour, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Dulwich Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Team have been on patrol around the ward engaging with residents. We have received reports of youths around the ward causing concern by knocking on the doors of residential properties and behaving in an intimidating manner. This has been either by standing in silence and staring or with the pretence of door step selling. We would like to take this opportunity to reinforce crime prevention advice. Please ensure you establish the identity of people knocking on your door before opening, this can be done by looking out the window or calling out before opening the door. The use of door chains or spyholes should be used when available. Antisocial behaviour can come in many forms and can require support from more organisations than just the police. There are 13 different types of antisocial behaviour that we may be able to help with, including abandoned vehicles, littering or drugs paraphernalia and street drinking. A full list of what we categorise as antisocial behaviour is available on our website. If you have witnessed or experienced antisocial behaviour, you can report it online. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org. As you have not contributed to the priority survey recently, we may be unaware of issues that you would like us to focus on. Please take a few minutes to securely and privately have your say using the button below, this will mean we can focus on things that matter to you. Please click here to complete the survey We are working on our brand-new strategy for how we police London and we want your help. Our New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will guide how we deliver on behalf of Londoners over the next three years, and we want to make sure you have had the chance to have your say. The consultation paper is available online, as well as a survey to let us know what you think. This closes on the 15 September. Love Dulwich rebranding as Turkish Restaurant
Pugwash replied to Angell34's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Cold meze is great and so is grilled halloumi. I always have the fish - hubby had the chicken on first visit, but fish on the second visit. Does anyone know if they have children's menu or would do a small plate for under 12s? -
I am wary about shopping somewhere which does not clearly show prices.

Looked up the science holiday clubs in London as mentioned by Angelina. There were none south of the river- most of them in Kensington area. Some had a price of £242 per day (for 5 hours), Also looked to see if there was anything in the Worthing area which we could pay for in the future, -

Thank you all for your input- we had the children with their mother for a few days. individually the children went out - one to the theatre and Camden Market and Horniman's. The other to the transport museum and Leicester Square (could not get in to the Lego place so went into M & M place) also Dulwich Park with his Aunty and cousin. My daughter is a special needs teacher in Sussex and even though schools have closed, she had to work 2 days (INSET Days) one day she had a 3 hour zoom call with her colleagues as could not find a child minder, so worked from home, the next day the 9 year old spent the day with friends so she could go to work. At least with us she could get some respite from child care. After much negotiation, their father in Liverpool has managed to get some leave from his new job for 2 weeks. My daughter will drive them to Oxford where Dad will pick up. This gives my daughter a few days without children to catch up with various friends in the Midland's and Yorkshire. I will search the science school link as above as there maybe something in the October or February Half Terms which we could enrol the 9 year old in. We try to support our 3 daughters with child care but most of the grandchildren are grown up which leaves us with 9,11 and 15 year olds. We have not been asked to look after the 6 year and 3 year old great grandchildren - !!! We are firm believers that grandparents should be active in their grandchildren's lives and offer support where they can. I looked after my eldest granddaughter when she was a baby and toddler one day a week so my daughter could work. My granddaughter is now 26 and we are very close as she is the only one living in London. The others are scattered around Kent, Sussex and Essex. -
Our cellar was damp constantly and we were told that there were many underground streams in Dulwich (which eventually end up in the river in Belair Park), Agree it is connected to the water table. We had all old plaster removed from walls and replastered,

South Circular roadworks - excessive disruption
Pugwash replied to Penguin68's topic in Roads & Transport
If I remember correctly, the responsibility for the traffic lights may rest with TFL. The long standing debate over the last 10 plus years re this junction, was that TFL had refused both Southwark Councillors and MPs request to add a pedestrian phase to the lights. I also vaguely remember many years ago, the newly installed lights at CP Rd and ED Road were delayed by TFL for weeks. They were there but not switched on.
