  1. I tried a year or so ago to use my HSBC card in the ATM and this was rejected. I use either the Co Op or Post Office or Sainsbury's at DKH or LL.
  2. Some years ago I attended a workshop on Malnutrition and Older People, and obtained very interesting information about diet, nutrition and best way to encourage people with Alzheimer's to have a nutritional diet. Hopefully, the speakers will discuss this and any information as to how technology can assist with caring for a person with Alzheimer's.
  3. Noticed this entry in the 'Whats on section' It is good to see that face to face meetings are returning - I shall be going . Barry Area Residents? Association (BARA) invites you to a presentation by Alzheimer?s Society on Support and information for people living with dementia and their families Thursday 26th May 2022 7.00 to 9.00 pm with discussion and refreshments at East Dulwich Community Centre 46-50 Darrell Road SE22 9NL The Community Centre is wheelchair accessible and is a few minutes walk from buses 12, 197, 176, 185, 40, P13 parking is free in Darrell Road please let us know if you plan to attend by emailing us at [email protected] or by phoning Janet (BARA secretary) at 020 8693 5536
  4. We are top end of Barry and have had post the last 3 days.
  5. What is a 'Driver for local area connection adapter' this message keeps coming up when I try to get into my internet. I eventually get in but it is annoying. Seems only to be a problem since Thames Water dug up the pavement to install water meter.
  6. The East Dulwich Community Centre is on Darrell Road. Next to the Dulwich Medical Centre - entrance is in Darrell Road. Still lost? Road runs between Crystal Palace Road and Hindmans, and between Upland and Underhill Roads.
  7. There is a hustings on 29th April 7 - 9 pm at the East Dulwich Community Centre Darrell Road. Candidates for Goose Green and Dulwich Hill will be attending.
  8. We had meetings over zoom over the past year or so, last time there were only 4 of us, and time before, I think 6. That is why a face to face meeting was suggested this time.
  9. Very disappointing turnout - myself, husband, 3 local residents, Councillor Maggie Browning, 3 members from the SNT, Apologies from 2 other regular members. We met one of the new SNT officers for the ward (2 new constables were appointed) plus Simon our long standing officer. People complain that police are not visible in the area, but seem reluctant to come to meetings `where they can air their views and be informed of crime statistics etc for the area. Next meeting will be in July.
  10. Reminder that the Dulwich Hill SNT meeting is tonight at 6.30 in cafe area of Christ Church Barry Road.
  11. Afternoon Just to inform you that we have finally started up our Ward Panel meetings and will be holding one on Wednesday 20/04/2022 at 18.30 at Christchurch on Barry Road. It would be great to see you there after such a long time. Please could you forward on this email to any of your contacts who live or work in Dulwich Hill. Also we are running a smart survey (the link is on Twitter/nextdoor) we would like to get the resident views on what issues they are most concerned about so we can set the ward priorities at this meeting. Thanks from the SNT.
  12. Dulwich Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team will be holding a face to face meeting at Christ Church on Weds 20th April 6.30 pm. Meeting is open to all residents and business owners of Dulwich Hill ward. Meet you local police team and ask questions relating to crime/safety etc.
  13. It was bad enough when the HSBC Lordship Lane closed, I do not have on line banking and do not wish to do so. Have had several face to face appointments with the Peckham branch sorting out ISAs etc. Also used for banking cheques as PO takes too long to process. It is getting harder to find an ATM - Lloyds having closed down, Salisbury's in DKH have only one ATM instead of two. Salisbury's Local frequently out of order.
  14. Have been both an in and out patient at KCH for many years. Generally medics and such introduce them selves, many have a prominent name badge or tag. I found as a patient that I would ask staff how they would like to be addressed (they usually have asked me whether I wanted to be formal or happy to use my first name) When I worked in hospitals - I would generally just give my first name to patients, explain my title and role. If I was going to deal with them for a period of time - I gave my surname and work phone number as a contact.
  15. On TV news tonight - many organisations are closing their doors as cannot take anymore clothing etc donations. People are advised to donate money to the Red Cross and other official charities.
  16. Both of my daughters went to Sydenham Girls and went onto university - one is a teacher and the other an occupational therapist.
  17. Hubby went to Dulwich Leisure Centre this afternoon and booked a swim for Thursday afternoon. Said it was much easier to book in person - they just swiped his membership card.
  18. Vets often take towels, they use them as bedding for those animals having treatment.
  19. There are far more important things in life than having free newspapers available in a library.
  20. Has it blown away?- Wind was strong enough to lift up our compost bin, garden chairs.
  21. Many years ago when my daughter was seeking out a primary school for her daughter, she visited the best performing school in her area and asked about SEN children. Head mentioned that they had one child with autism but nobody knew about his/her diagnosis as they did not stand out!. Daughter has worked for many years with children and young people with special needs and was aware of differing attitudes in schools. Her daughter did not have special needs and went to a primary school which was around number 4 on the best schools list. My granddaughter is now 23 and it is a shame that all these years on, schools are more concerned with exam results and outwards appearances than the welfare of their pupils. My youngest daughter is a teacher in an exclusion unit for 14- 16 year old and half of her pupils have SEN and were failing in their secondary schools for lack of provision.
  22. I am waiting for 2 items sent by Amazon which according to Tracking Records were received by PO on 10th January.
  23. Tracking a small parcel from Amazon - noticed that it was collected by Postal Services on 10th January - heaven knows when it will get delivered!!
  24. Our grandson in Harlow received our Christmas card yesterday (12th) which was sent early December. We have birthday cards to send to other children/grandchildren whose birthdays are this month and early Feb. We need to go out of Southwark to post them - any idea which area is better?
  25. I have not got a SMART phone so cannot show bar code, also printer will not print out bar codes. There were 2 sections in Co Op last week - the manned section which I went to first and was sent around to the blue locker near sandwich section
