Goose Green roundabout damage 1st March
Pugwash replied to Bony Fido's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Years ago it was proposed to either reduce the size of the roundabout or disperse it completely. There was a massive outcry against both proposals and the scheme was dropped. -
Gail's - no masks on staff - how come?
Pugwash replied to Dogkennelhillbilly's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If people are exempt from wearing masks, they can wear visors which will give some protection. -

New recycling bin for electrical items
Pugwash replied to Nigello's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Does that take small electrical items? -
British Heart Foundation in Old Kent Road. However with the closures of charity shops most charities are not taking donations of any kind.

We had 6 nuisance calls in one day last week- half putting the phone down and others a recorded message.

These signs are not clear enough No thorough road applies for the blocking off of Court Lane at Carlton Avenue. You can obviously go down Eynella and Court Lane .

I looked twice for the one on Sydenham Hill near Woodhouse last year but could not find it. -
I must admit that any funerals we have arranged (6 i think at the last count) We have given a tip to the Pall bearers only. I think it was ?20 in total to be shared out. Last funeral we did was my father's 5/6 years ago and in Sussex. SE16 sounds like Albins who have a very high standard and reputation.

I have had vaccine with no side effects. I have friends who are on warfarin/anti coagulants who are unsure whether to take vaccine and are in contact with their GP as to whether the risk of side effects were greater than that of catching covid. There are many people for medical reasons are unable to have the jab and the majority of us who have had the vaccine will go a long way of protecting these people. My godson when he was less than 2 weeks old contracted meningitis and was in critical care for over a week - his parents were advised not to have any of the usual childhood vaccinations as he was a high risk of complications. Admittedly this was over 30 years ago and medical science has improved.

Need to be referred by GP and given the appropriate forms to hand over to them. First time I went seen within 10 minutes, 2nd time seem within 20 mins.

I remember some years ago there were questions being asked of the local police about pavement cyclists and the dangers they presented to pedestrians. The general consensus was that young children were safer on the pavement with either an adult cycling alongside them on the road, or walking. As far as I am aware, it is still illegal to cycle on the pavement. Our local copper at the time would turn a blind eye to young children on small bikes riding on the pavement as it was safer than the road, but older primary/secondary age kids with or without adults, he would ask them to use the roads. Given the number of cyclists now using the pavements, the police would not be able to make any effective measures. I assume if you were knocked down by a pavement cyclist - it would be 'dangerous driving'. If you were injured by a jogger - i.e them knocking into you would it be assault?

Open schools first - primary then gradual reopening of secondary. Non essential shops - especially the small independent shops, to open department stores (if we have any left) would be difficult to control numbers. Cafes and small restaurants but have a time limit as to how long people can stay in them i.e. if just coffee and sandwich/cake 1 hour max, more substantial meals - max of 2.5. hours. stop people using cafes as their office or also giving a 1 hour max stay. When order taken the time could be written on it. I remember many times booking a restaurant in the past and you were given a time slot i.e 7 - 9.30 as place did set sittings.

Took a rare stroll this afternoon with hubby to Dulwich Park. Eynella Road appears to be covered with dog poo, we meandered all over the place trying to avoid getting it on our shoes. Park crowded - dogs on and off leads, adults and kids on bikes and scooters weaving their way around pedestrians and prams. A couple with a buggy were sharing food and drink with elderly couple (grandparents?) on one of the seats. A man on a skate board came towards us on the pavement suddenly - I did not have time to move so he fell off his board into the road.Did not appear hurt, Could see that in the distance a large group appear to be meeting - or was it coincidental that around 20 people were all standing in the same spot? Hubby wanted to return home as too many people, dogs, bikes on the road and pavement, many of them were considerate but spoilt by the attitude of others who disregarded park users. Must have been a couple of hundred people out in the road from the Court Lane Gate to half way down the field where cafe is.

Being a slow walker due to arthritis I use a stick., I am fed up with joggers/adults and children on bikes, who suddenly 'loom up' on you. I come out of my house and have to look carefully to see if I am likely to meet - the jogger over the road who suddenly decides to cross over to my side, the parent with child who suddenly decides that pavement cycling is much easier, the scooter rider who thinks it hilarious when you stop walking to avoid him. I have nothing against those joggers/cyclists etc who are considerate to others regardless of drivers/pedestrians . I find myself stopping and avoiding couples jogging - why should I be the one who steps into the road. Busy main roads such as Barry and Lordship Lane are not appropriate areas for pavement jogging or cycling due to narrowness in part, number of bus stops and in some places uneven pavements. Hubby in his younger and fitter days used to cycle daily to work and then in the evenings would go for a 5 mile run - usually around side streets, sometimes cutting through Brockwell or Dulwich Park but avoiding main roads as much as possible. The community spirit of last year seems to be wearing thin during this lockdown - people having less tolerance and concerns about others.

We are lucky to have a downstairs shower room and loo, upstairs bathroom has a bath which has not been used for about 10 years plus. Hubby and I have difficulty with arthritis in legs and hips to actually get in bath We have a bath seat which has never been used. I was advised many years ago by my GP to avoid baths as they aggregated my skin which was prone to rashes. Since having a shower, I have not had a repeat of this skin condition - I tell people that I have not had a bath for over 30 years!

One today saying that I had made a purchase of ?600 with my visa card! Son in law's reply to the 'accident' scams is to say - i am glad you called, my Porshe was a complete right off and I suffered 2 broken legs, a spinal injury and broken hand., I was only grateful it was not the Rolls Royce that had been hit! The caller always puts phone down.

I take it that this is online or zoom as all the weight watchers etc slimming classes are not permitted to meet.
