  1. An article in The Daily Mail yesterday cited Co-op's bid for Somerfield. They've apparently been thrashing out the details between themselves for months and is nearing completion. Whether this means that the Somerfield brand would go or whether all their stuff will be rebranded under the Co-op it didn't say but I can't imagine all of Somerfields sourcing would disappear, so whatever happens I'm sure it'll be much of a muchness.
  2. Keef, I beg to differ. He is more consistant than not and a god captain. Rather get rid of Pieterson than Vaughn or Strauss, who seems to think the pitch is a playground when he's batting and misses too many opportunities for steady innings'. The team need stalwarts who can inspire teamwork and inspiration to the up and coming players. Without them I imagine it would be a shambles.

Going Saturday to get drunk and have a sleep, and if I'm lucky I might get to see a wicket. If I see 3 in a day I feel privilaged.

Any pubs showing it bearing in mind the CPT has cut off Sky and The Mag is closed?

  3. Used to pop in the back bar on the way back from school (Dul. Col.) around 1988 / 1989, obviously without my tie. Cannot remember a damn soul. However, I'm sure PJ was there. As he was yesterday afternoon and the 2 previous afternoons this week. In fact, I'm sure he's there every afternoon as are quite a few people who have exiled themselves from the CPT (inc. moi). Long live The Plough.
  4. Am V sorry that anybody gets burgled, it's horrible. Happened on my B'day 3 years ago. V. long screws, window frames etc are the cure. Police came came around a day later, had to sleep in the lounge on the floor that night until they arrived and not disturb anything. Nothing heard yet, am holding my breath though, I'm sure the Old Bill aren't that bad! Good luck.
  5. Please, can no person use the phrases 'Bellenden Village' or 'Peckham Village', it is Peckham - SE15. Bellenden Road is lovely, it's quiet, relaxed, no hassle, loveliest book shop, Ganapati etc. For a non E. Dulwich w'end go for it. Live there, you'll make money when you sell, the regeneration will sort it out as soon as Elephant and Castle is done. Does anybody remember E. Dulwich 20 years ago?
  6. I'm with Keef on this one. The CPT is great for the obvious reasons of the locals, always good for observational value, some more than others (no names mentioned! You know who you are!), bar staff (soon to be gone - boo) and friendly atmosphere. The Plough is now far superior than it has been for the past 20 years (used to pop in there on the home from school), comfortable surroundings, a good selection of beer, not over priced, a nice garden, nice food, a cashpoint opposite and Keef's band!!!!!!
  7. Sorry Keef, I didn't mean to be flippant. I still miss my Barbor which was thieved two and a half years ago. I imagine your jacket might have been thrown into a hedge or something of the sorts. Have you tried looking in the charity shops? There may be a kindly soul who may have handed it in to one of them.
  8. I sense another ED lynch mob in the making. Count me in. I've lost carpets, jumpers, scarfs etc. I've had them for 2 years now and I've tried the cedar blocks and smelly moth balls but they don't seem to work that well, the sticky moth traps sound good, that'll be next on the list. Good luck to everyone, they are the spawn of Satan.
  9. Even though I spent the vast majority of the evening outside the pub on Saturday, it was absolutally great, the band, the birds, the atmosphere. Good to hear the brass section again too.

It's a shame that they probably won't let the whole band play there again, bearing in mind that the pub most likely made a killing behind the bar that night!

    Missed Anthony's solo - AGAIN - oops

Hooray for the band Keef, but I understand you were a bit naughty afterwards?
