  1. Creating more housing is a good thing. It is not the case that more housing of necessity increases pressure on parking, and to be honest, if parking is that bad, cycle, walk and ask zip car if there is any chance of a car club car being put in. The vast majority of residents of central London do not need a car.
  2. Just ordered dog stickers, dog lover's plaque (german shepherd) and dog bowl. Will also buy exterior lights...
  3. if you really want the best service switch to be broadband. Had some issues at first with corrupt profile on my computer. Technically competent staff member after one other person, who spent an hour fixing the computer. Never had better computer related service.
  4. My bin men are great, though as I was coming out this morning a tattooed, giant, scary bin man, grinning like a loon was just throwing the bins back in through my gate as I came out the door. Scared the bejesus out of me.
  5. Vive la France. Religion should have no role in the provision of state services. If Muslims or Christians can set up schools, why not scientologists, branch davidians or that bloke who keeps calculating the date of the day of judgement incorrectly. They strongly believe that they are correct.
  6. Actually, I think one of the main reasons why network rail has such high costs is the failure of people to understand risk. People expect the train to have zero risk, but quite happily pack their kids into the car as a replacement, and with a far higher risk of death. The extra requirements which came in after Clapham cost a huge amount, and were not justified by risk analysis, though, of course this is of little comfort to relatives of victims. Same goes for nuclear power.
  7. EU pensions are massively unsustainable. Try telling the young, poor, majority that if you own a house worth more than 500k you are not rich in any way. I agree that multi billionaires avoiding tax is despicable, but there seems to be an attitude amongst the baby boomers that they should not pay fair tax, and that they should enjoy pensions which we all know will not be forthcoming to people under 40, whilst enjoying rises in property values which mean that only the select few younger people will ever be able to afford a house. Add in tuition fees for university, voted in by people who received a full grant in the past, and it seems we are accelerating the transfer of cash from the young to the old.
  8. James and renata, Do you realise that petty points scoring puts people off politics, yes? Perhaps you could think about working together for the good of the community, rather than this he said / she said act? Yours, Voters
  9. The first thing the barbarians do is to torch the libraries. Get rid of the pointless bribes for rich pensioners. I have no problem with people needing winter fuel money getting it, nor with free bus passes for those that do. However, I know a number of pensioners who get both of these but also own more than 500k of property, and have vast pensions. Young people need to learn to vote regularly.
  10. I support the closure, and please ignore the car lobby. Cars have enough of London.
  11. Extra loft insulation good. Persistent knobbers not understanding "we are a house built in the last year, and have all of the insulation required by the current codes" bad.
  12. Surrey docks farm or further afield - Coram's fields guides hall. Have had great parties in January at both with a fairly wide range of ages
