  2. Aside from generally agreeing with Alan Bennett about tv (its mostly shit) and Family Guy (he loves it), how cool is this... "However Radio 4 is to air Bennett?s first drama to premiere on radio. Denmark Hill, a modern day take on Hamlet set in South London, was adapted from an unproduced screenplay written 20 years ago and discovered in Bennett?s archives." http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/tv-radio/alan-bennett-attacks-repellent-reality-tv-shows-from-big-brother-to-the-big-allotment-challenge-9749216.html
  3. sounds.....interesting ;) and this years ig nobels http://www.cnet.com/pictures/ig-nobel-honours-slippery-banana-peel-toast-jesus/2/
  4. There was some on my teaspoon this morning and the thought sort of crossed my mind. I didn't do it though. Gloopy tea? I know some people who drink their tea so strong it's practically syrup...
  5. has anybody ever thickened their tea with some cornflour? Would that be a bit weird do you think?
  6. just had a listen. Nice enough, in fact it's very pleasant now he's not trying to alienate, but I can't get very excited about it, in fact i was looking forward to it ending so i could listen to something I'd enjoy). I was there too when it he was helping redefine dance music such that it wasn't just some hand claps, euphroic synths and a fuck load of ecstasy, but a million people have trodden this path since and it's just a bit jaded really isn't it? Thinking about it there are some bits that wouldn't have been uncomfortable on a tangerine dream album ;) One for the This Life flat to have on endless repeat ;)
  7. depends on the texture it roasts to, but with the smaller ones you can never go wrong with scooping out, steaming, mixing into some risotto of wahtever style, stuff them and then bung in oven for 20 minutes

Balotelli's control that helped set up stirling's goal was quite sublime. Man have screw loose but man good with round leather thing.

  12. it was terrible for everyone, mouse over stats on yesterdays games and apart from the chelsea game (which i shoud have got, changed from 1-1 to 2-1 at last moment, grrr) they're all 0% score prediction 1% result prediction
  13. tony blair breathing
  14. Ha, amazingly I went with my four year old's prediction that we would win 3-1 despite my saying that it never happens. I have scioned lucky pants!
  15. To be fair to the Cornish, I don't think any of them would for a second consider independence, and I think they're aware that only something like 8 people speak the lingo. In fact thinking about it, weren't they a hotbed of loyal royalism in the civil war? They're just figuring, if everyone else is at it we have a claim....
  16. Did I? I had to look the word up. Senility has set in!!! aah, that was from the above quote, ignore me....
  17. excellent, life's work in tatters. has he decided to live in a tent in the forest with his anthropomorhic bird friends?
  18. what ... the ...very ....
  19. I enjoyed zombieland, which is sort of a rom com/odd couple movie.
  20. That's quite interesting As usual people come to a revelation on a personal level and think its the answer to all ills. My guess, the guy's just unhappy and this hypothesis (which has a compellng ring to it I grant you) fits the questions he's asked. Putting two and two together I reckon a vegetarian broke his heart ;)

  23. >"My experience under multiple governments in multiple countries has taught me that self-preservation is the chief concern >of people in power, and that people who seek these kinds of roles are by and large moral vacuums." To an extent I think that's exactly why and how democracy works, to be relected you have to balance ideology with pragmatism. It's a necessary and self-interested check on power. Its part of the reason why its hard for democracies to do anything about global warming while it still remains 'controversial'. It doesn't help when your environment minister doesn't 'believe' in it I guess :( >people who seek these kinds of roles are by and large moral vacuums The growth of the political class is a REALLY bad thing, absolutely. But I'm sure there are tons of people with great intentions or who enter it for the right reasosn. Maybe you just have to be a bit of a ruthless cunt to get anywhere near real power.
  24. the first one wasnt a reply, it was a rant prompted by yet another stupid captioned picture on facebook, we cross posted. Apologies if you felt i was condescending, I've alot of respect for your opinions. Of course i am sometimes condescending but it's mostly just ranty ;) eta - "the spiritual and ideological vacuum of the government that preceded them." i may have to nick that and claim it as my own!!
  25. found this fascinating. Nevis...really? My mum's from St Kitt's and Nevis, Nevis is basically a rock with a big village on it, i don't get the impression it's being crushed under the jackboot of St Kitts.
