Local List - heritage of local history & local architecture

Shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted comes to mind- AFTER the council has granted planning permission for all the ugly carbuncles splattered over the Victorian houses in ED....shameful and obscene -

My area must have been very poor because we cuold put a tennis 'net' (bit of rope really) across the street and play well into the 1960s. -
Is there any more we can do about dog poo?

This is a direct result of the council imposing a charge on collecting the above items. Those of us that have a house with a side entrance can collect this stuff in the garden until we have 10 items and then arrange collection. If you are in a flat and do not have transportation- what else are you supposed to do with the ONE item of household furniture you want to dispose of? Maybe we should have a facility for people to get together and when they have collected 10 items- one of them arranges a collection. I'm surprised that the furniture etc dumping is not a lot worse. As for the dog poo- I've lived around here since 1980 and there has ALWAYS been a problem. -

Anyone who knows ANYTHING about local government knows that if the Tories are in Central Government then the Labour Councils will cut FRONT LINE services and make life VERY uncomfortable for the general public...but they will NEVER cut the admin and backroom staff- EVER.....it is obscene the way that Labour councils, especially in poor areas, make life VERY uncomfortable for the people and then blame central government...that is how they get their votes- as far as I can see, having been brought up in a very poor borough, all that Labour ever do is cr*p on the working class and since they failed to educate anyone, brainwash them into thinking it is the Tories' fault...they even sink so low as to leaflet schools- they are worse than the clergy..... -

The only freedom here is the freedom of the terrorist to kill and maim
