  1. I've seen an ad for electronic cigs on 5* today. The theme is that if you are a true friend of a smoker then you will get them an NJOY electronic fag. This is still addiction to nicotine which narrows blood vessels for a start. Although the electronic fag will not have the nasty tar and carbon monoxide etc. Anyway, have sent 5* a complaint
  2. Glad you liked it EP- and no it never takes itself seriously. Zombified are my fave. (I shall be getting my pension next year btw)
  3. They'll be replacing all those lovely old bridges in Wales and the Lake District soon so that they are fit for the 21st century (regardless of the fact that they have been around for hundreds of years!)
  4. I expect it isn't a joke to the policeman with a broken leg and his family

  6. The best album last year was 'A Split Worse than Death'- various artists.
  7. Earplugs- that way you can have ventilation in the summer (although you won't be able to hear burglars)
  8. Six hours! Amazing the stamina some of these older geezers have got.
  9. You used to be able to get cannabis oil so if you mixed your own juice for the e-cig using cannabis oil instead of one of the flavours you could create your own e-spliff.
  10. Your Treachery Will Die With You- Dying Fetus
  11. John Otway played the Scream lounge in Croydon a couple of years ago as well. What ever became of Wild Willy Barrett?
  12. The op said this government's policies- in fact most of the problems we have are a result of the previous government's rubbish policies- allowing the proliferation of gambling opportunities (Tessa Jowell) means people have less money to spend on other things. Labour allowed the banks to do what they liked (Gordon Brown gave the Bank of England a free hand). It was Labour that allowed central government to override local government planning issues (John Prescott). Energy prices have been high since before this government due to green taxes.
  13. Whilst there is a Labour Council and a Tory/LibDem government then the council will use the Southwark residents as a political football and blameit on 'cut-backs' from central government. They did it the last time the Tories were in power.
  14. How are the high rents in this area and lack of custom in shops a result of government policies?
  15. It's the postcode all right. My friend lives near Ascot. We have similar spec cars and no claims. Her fully comp. insurance is ?208 and mine is ?298 for third party, fire and theft.
  16. My daughter bought a swish car from Car Giant before xmas 2012. It developed a fault within a week. In fairness it is a common fault on the type of car she bought. She had it taken back by the RAC. They fixed it over xmas and gave her a 1L polo courtesy car in the meantime. The car was a fair price (they are all priced competitively and they won't haggle) and she got a good deal on her trade in. She paid cash. I believe this company makes its money from people who choose to take the high APR finance and the add ons e.g. autoglim. If you avoid those then they are ok. They put barely legal tyres on all cars that go out so be prepared for that. They also don't provide road tax, which you need to arrange on the day yourself, post office is a bit of a way away. Personally, the thought of going across the whole of London for a car puts me off. I prefer Network Q (or equivalent)
  17. Sugar Mag- Grateful Dead
  18. When the children were young I sometimes came back from a walk and either the pushchair wheels had poo on or one of the kids had walked in it. At the time I thought I would save up some really stinky nappies, follow a miscreant home and dump the nappies on their doorstep. Too busy to get round to it though, but it's an idea.
  19. I have noticed that there is more poo on the pavements during the dark evenings as well. I am not a dog owner and do not particularly like dogs or cats and feel that the more overcrowded we become the more these unsociable activities will occur.
  20. It's so dark outside I thought it was 16.30 already!
  21. edits
  22. Perfectly Lonely- John Mayer
  23. Do you install an RSJ as well? Very versatile indeed.
  24. I wonder how much rubbish was dumped in the river over New Year's Eve. People are vile.....
  25. All the time the Thatcher government were in power and Southwark was Labour controlled, the ordinary residents of the borough were used as political footballs. Front line services were sacrificed because the money was spent on admin in e.g. education which I was involved in and a friend of mine was in finance and blatant fraud was going on at every level there (he was told to 'turn a blind eye and write the cheques' and 'if he didn't like it he knew what he could do'). I daresay the very unpopular (in Left leaning circles) compulsory competitive tendering had fraud going on as well because there are people everywhere who think that defrauding the public purse is a victimless crime but obviously it is not. These exhorbitant charges are being used to dissuade the council tenants not to exercise the right to buy because the Socialists just hate for people to be self-sufficient in all areas of their lives.
