  1. Well yet more burglaries on my street! just off Lordship Lane. This time a brand new laptop/t.v/digital cam' stolen - my neighbour suspects its things the burglars can easily sell off to mates/local pub. The worrying thing is that the house that got burgled had a motion detector system/alarm linked to local Police station and they never got there on time...! So please be aware that even alarms linked to Police are not foolproof.
  2. I think alot of this activity is by people knowledgeable of the area. Its sad to see children get involved stealing bikes from peoples sheds. What next? and what can one do more to ensure safety without turning your home into a fortress with barred windows and constantly worrying if my house will be next on the burglars hot list.
  3. Yes of course. You can find the up to date link/source of a survey of experiences by past defendants below. P.s You should have an open mind and not always base everything in life on pure stats - yes i agree they are just figures and information , that can meaning nothing or misinterpreted by anyone who wishes to do so. Hope i have'nt made any spelling mistakes... Happy reading 'Sue' and 'Northlondoner' link/sonfomotions.com/etexts/id/etext123711 In case you really love more stats - then you can find more at liberty-human-rights.co.uk and paste in scroll bar the relevant question on Barristers advising defendantsand all the info' will come up.... again happy reading!
  4. Sorry 'Northlondoner' if i misspelt definitely but i am diagnosed dyslexic, so spelling mistakes will happen, i am trying my best - we're all not perfect like you eh...?
  5. I definately agree with you that a previous offences should be taken into consideration when standing before a jury - so the jury are given a fuller picture of a criminals character. So many times criminals get away because they are 'briefed' by their Barristers and then dress ultra smart (the only time some ever wear a suit i imagine...!) - they then charm and fool the jury who do not know about their past. Also i don't believe in parole for 'good behaviour' - 5 years sentence should mean 5 years in prison!.
  6. I'm not sure why cops do not return money 'Puzzled'. Perhaps their not allowed to, or how do you prove it is someones.
  7. Please all be careful in the run-up to Christmas period and post festive season, as its prime time for burglaries with people away visiting relatives and family. Lock-up and keep safe!
  8. Sorry Ginabean to hear about your awful experience. I agree, its more the sentimental aspects of things stolen, rather than the value of the items themselves. But thanks for the tips on getting a timer from Homebase,i will look into that and put a lamp on a timer switch i think. With Christmas coming up and alot of empty properties over the period, its more important than ever to keep our homes safe from burglars et al...!
  9. Its really unfortunate what happened to you, so sorry for you and angry at the muggers...! alas its all too common and people forget to not use their mobiles in the dark. It shouldnt have to be but thats how things have become unfortunately for everyone. Hope they fine the mugger and your phone.
  10. I'm continually being amazed at the amount of break-ins recently. What have the Police and Insurance people said about individual burglaries, it would be great to hear any advice one can give.
  11. Its all to common now with burglaries.... people out or away and the criminals jump in! Very sad to hear things like this happening, especially where children are affected directly. I guess people must be vigilant and secure their properties and possessions even more so.
  12. Yes its all too common a story these days, hope your girls are well. It happened to a friends son last weekend, he was walking across Dulwich Park and got stopped by 3 boys, who demanded his phone,he did'nt have much choice but to hand it over. It was reported to the Police but theres really not much they can do about this sort of crime.
