  1. Just wondering whether anyone knows if these are still being sold? Thanks!
  2. Hullo I'm looking for a cleaner for a one off deep clean, potentially leading to regular work. Hoping to have someone do the deep clean next week. G
  3. The deadline has been extended. The delegates planning officer is thought to be likely to recommend approval and therefore the ward councillors have agreed to call in the decision to planning committee. Please if you live in the surrounding streets consider replying to the consultation on the southwark website.
  4. The approval of The Dye House application (i.e. the east side of the Nutbrook studios which sits in the land between Howden, Waghorn, Nutbrook, Maxted roads) would set a precedent for future approval to convert the west side of the studios, i.e. the building which sits behind the houses on the east side of Maxted Rd. This application is therefore relevant to those on Maxted who may find themselves in future with a planning application to build houses behind their gardens. I hope this is clearer.
  5. To those in the streets surrounding 33 Nutbrook St, i.e. Nutbrook Studios, can I draw your attention to this planning application: http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9561249 The current small business and artists studios/creative space at The Dye House is subject to proposal to change of use to residential. Details of previous attempt to change use from 2010 are to be found at the Southwark Planninh website by searching for 33 Nutbrook. There was significant opposition from people in streets in Peckham and ED at that time, hence bringing it to the awareness of people on the ED forum. The proposal will replace the existing building with significantly taller houses which will directly impact all residents on north side of Nutbrook St, south side of Howden St and west side of Waghorn St. Additionally a change of use precedent could affect those on Maxted Rd should the potential residual studio site also be subject to planning application for change of use with associated loss of amenity to these residents also. If you are a local resident could you please have a look at the planning application and consider contacting Southwark with your opinions? Thanks Edited to remove direct link to previous consultation documents.
  6. We also got a clearview pioneer but all through one company, mainly for convenience although there was no doubt a premium associated with this. Matt at Casa was helpful but they couldn't get Clearviews and after months and months of searching, that't what we'd settled on. We used Forest Bailiff near Sheen.
  7. Second the whole 'get it right from day 1' thing. Going out money is precious and unfortunately for the businesses, people judge on first experiences. Echoing others' thoughts, if I was able to book, pay the bill at the end, have more chips and could get some hot sauce for my chips then I'd be back. I'll prob go back anyway because of the range of ales but beside the point.
  8. We went last night, had burgers and pork belly. The burgers were tasty but bit greasy, triple cooked chips strangely slightly underdone. Pork belly very good. Tried a few of the ales which were great but London prices. If manager reading: get some hot sauces, let people start tabs, put some plants in the outside planters!
  9. I like the french sourdough and the bran muffins. Coffee also good. Bread rankings locally for me (very important subject) are 1. Campaillou (sold in Homemade, not sure where from), the Rye sourdough from Brickhouse and then the half sourdough from (I think blackbird).
  10. Yep, it's not on my cycle to work or home, it isn't on my walk to the station and I'm not going to drive to the village for bread. If making a trip for breakfast then the lido is best. Gail's is up and up and sure the spot would suit them. Now I've unfortunately joined the swelling ranks of those wishing x and y would come to ED. Argh!
  11. I know the original post wasn't referring to the shared space on rye lane, but that truly is an awful place to cycle (and i'm sure for pedestrians, to walk also). No one seems to have a clue that there is a little cycle lane. Does anyone else here ride on it? It really would be better if it were completely segregated. My bell just doesn't seem to cut the mustard going along there.
  12. A decent cafe which can afford the bills and would be welcome is Gail's. Be very easy to pop in on cycle home along the rye for bread etc. Based on the other Gail's in Chiswick etc it'd be absolutely hoaching. We went to Gardens once, had coffees which were milky crap, not the strong flat whites we ordered and yes service was very very slow. Never returned after that.
  13. I think the problem is arguing about absolutes when clearly life is full of grey areas. There are times when I've mounted the pavement to avoid mental dangerous traffic, I've done so by slowing down and giving way as is right. I think it's reasonable for cyclists to do this if the pay due care. Just as it's reasonable for us to expect pediestrians to turn and look before stepping out into the road. Furthermore if people are allowed to cross streets when there is no green man then why is it so wrong for us cyclists to keep going when a) it's safe b)stopping loses hard earned momentum and c) often jumping the lights early provides a distinct survival benefit (as alluded to earlier and something i experience several times along my route). The argument over shared space is also difficult. I come along that useless bit of shared space in peckham next to the bus lane and specsavers etc. It's a nightmare as pedestrians don't seem to know what's expected (I think cyclists deserve some credit for putting up with some very reckless pedestrian behaviour here). This is despite the fact that undoubtedly some of these people use the street day in day out. Protected cycle space and junction redesign, as has been highlighted abroad and in numerous studies is the only solution. We don't cause emissions, we don't wear the roads, we rarely hurt or kill pedestrians. All things one can't say about vehicles yet why the hell is it everyone (not limited to or even particularly meaning this thread)has so much aggro about us. I think, to be completely frank, given the above we have good reason to be a bit smug and expect a bit of compromise from those in charge (off topic but has to be said). Over long, sorry. S
  14. I posted about this weeks ago and it was removed. The mods never explained why. My concern would be that this is evidence of a) a crime being committed against her or b) mental illness. Either requires some form of help. My deleted post led me to assume this has been discussed before and therefore that the resident was probably known to psych services.
