  1. I haven't bitched or made cutting remarks. I've reviewed the quality of food ad services rendered. I'm not a charity. I expect a certain standard for my hard earned money as will others. I sincerely hope it improves and would return if there's evidence it has.
  2. Thought this had been deleted given the previous comments about negative restaurant reviews!
  3. We've just been to Duck Egg on north cross road this morning. It looked nice from the outside and the menu seemed good. We had eggs Benedict and eggs royale both with duck eggs, a Cappucino and an Americano. The food arrived before the coffees. The coffees didn't have the extra shots we asked for (but were charged for). My partner's food was lukewarm. This seemed to be due to poor communication between kitchen and waitresses (we could see the cook with our plates standing at the back waiting on someone coming to collect them for about 2 mins). It's a shame as its a great location, has a nice exterior but neither the food or coffee were up to scratch or value for money (?23) and the service was chaotic and disjointed. New places like these really need to get it right first time otherwise people who had an experience like us are unlikely to go back. For those about to snipe: We did not complain as we just wanted to get the negative start to the day out of the way.

  5. People who play loud music at 4am through open windows either know they are out of order and don't care or are so messed up that a complaint is unlikely to help. I expect the chance of 'oh sorry didn't realise won't do it again' is approaching zero.
  6. I too don't see why it must be 'bakerloo vs crossrail 2'. Why not both? Clearly they both have proponents and there are benefits foreseeable through both schemes. If infrastructure spending is truly to increase as Boris et al suggest then there is scope for both. I don't see it as coincidence that a more affluent area's proposed scheme (chelsea) by default has a greater perceived acceptance and feasibility vs south east London.
  7. I cycle so can be at work in 25mins. This is as irrelevant as your LB stat. The associated damage during building works is clearly something I wouldn't try to argue against, that would be impossible at this stage. As someone relatively recent to the forum (lurker for 2 years) I've seen many threads deteriorate with unnecessary aggression, please don't let this happen here. I like it here, don't want to move but that doesn't equate to being against improvement. I am not a Luddite.
  8. Thankfully they aren't appealing to you but to the quiet majority who would benefit from this, would like it to happen but for various reasons (inertia?) haven't yet signed it. Is resisting improvements in transport for a huge swathe of south east London the new black?
  9. It would be interesting to see the economic cases for previous lines or extensions to compare to the current justifications for bakerloo extension.
  10. We ate there recently and were disappointed. So the owners have banned the forum mods from allowing it to be discussed?
  11. Really couldn't agree more James. What's needed is a plan Of action to take this forward. Can you tell us what's happening at southwark regards this? Shaun
  12. Exactly, lewisham have been visibly proactive for years on this. Southwark appear to be joining in now. This is the most low hanging of fruit to ease and improve an important aspect of southwark residents' lives, transport. Also agree the defeatist attitudes about cost will ensure it never happens. Who is the petition to be delivered to? Can the councillor a tell us what the motion that was passed said? What are the next steps? Is southwark commissioning a report Into the business case and benefits?
  13. Problem is at present there is no concrete plan. For things to get to that stage then support is needed for the idea in principle. During consultation periods concerns such as those you raise can be aired.
  14. I don't see how any of it would be destroyed. All of London above ground is normal with the tube underneath. I suppose some established trees potentially which would not be ideal bit otherwise the common is grass which is easy to repair I would've thought.
  15. It would help if people can be a bit more longsighted and accept that these projects require long term sustained agitation by residents so that when money is available the will is there. Please write your MP. the fact that crossrail and crossrail 2 are higher on the agenda than SE improvements is shocking and requires action. It seems highly likely that infrastructure projects are going to be used to get us out of recession and therefore having a well thought out plan and political support from our GLA members, MPs and councillors means that when money is available this could get signed off on.
  16. The Peckham Rye Common station suggestion is very attractive. Within easy walking distance for residents of ED, Peckham, Nunhead and honor oak. The overground and rail from HOP and rail from ED are stretched during peak. This clearly will be a massive benefit for residents of all these areas. The other options via old Kent road etc would not benefit us and we would remain a transport black hole relying on buses via congested roads or the above creaking train routes. DOI: no engineer. I cycle to work in E1 and would continue to do so Bakerloo or no.
  17. http://www.networkrail.co.uk/browse%20documents/rus%20documents/route%20utilisation%20strategies/rus%20generation%202/london%20and%20south%20east/consultation%20responses/l/london%20borough%20of%20lewisham.pdf http://councilmeetings.lewisham.gov.uk/documents/s11434/Integrated%20Transport%20-%20Bakerloo%20Extension.pdf http://www.londonreconnections.com/2012/white-knights-and-wishlists-northern-and-bakerloo-line-extensions/ These both will lead you on to other documents. Lewisham have been discussing for years, noting the importance of keeping it on the radar and needling the mayor. Southwark are relatively silent (unless southwark council meetings can't be read online).
  18. Hi Renata Does your petition correspond to option 1 from the TFL report http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakerloo_line_extension_to_Camberwell or another option? This has been on And off for ears. How do we actually get some traction and make progress on this? The inequality between north and south over the tube s plain for all to see. The need for infrastructure investment has also been highlighted. A stop in Peckham rye would benefit ED, nunhead, Peckham and HOP residents. The national rail services to London bridge are over stretched and unfairly priced when compared to a similar tube trip. How do you intend to take this forward? Cross party support from all the councillors and MPs in the areas that would benefit from the option 1 plan would surely carry some weight with Boris et al. Shaun
  19. A good value tasty pizza place like Franco Manga in chiswick - rustic, not stuffy and excellent value
  20. Do any other cyclists use the Willowbrook Rd turn off into the Surrey Canal Path? It involves a right turn, crossing the other lane on what is effectively a blind summit. Cyclists have two options, hugging the gutter then moving out into the middle of the road, hoping they're allowed to do so in time, or to take the middle of the lane earlier and hope the cars behind are patient enough to not try to kill you. I tend to the latter. Today someone forced me into the middle of the road between the two lanes, undertook me and then swerved in front of me while braking, forcing me to brake and swerve, coming very close to me. I took this as an attempt to force me off my bike rather than an attempt to physcially hit me which I'm sure he could have done easily. Had aggro at this bit before but nothing this bad. 1. What should I do? I have his number plate. Don't know if there is CCTV there. 2. If anyone else has problems here do they know of efforts to change the junction/add a filter lane or other solutions. Thanks
  21. Hi everyone Could I please have some advice on local GPs? I'd ideally like one which offers evening appointments or weekends. I appreciate this has no doubt been asked before ad nauseum however I haven't been able to find anything useful. Thank you. Shaun
  22. Just wanting some advice on some good local GPs. Suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  23. Focussed over honor oak park area (seemingly) for past 10 mins. Searchlight hasn't Moved. Anyone know what's happening?
  24. Hi We've just moved to the area. Derrick has been round this afternoon (thank you for the tip above) and has given us a chimney balloon, some light bulbs, radiator panels and some sound advice on door insulation. Our taps were aerated already. I'd reccommend him. Best of all it's free.
