To be fair to SLDS parents are informed that practice lessons for shows cannot be missed before they sign up their child for the shows. SLDS shows are of amazing standard and no child whatever size, shape or experience is ever excluded if they agree to commit to the practice schedule. Several hundred children take part in these shows and I can understand that attendance is crucial not only to keep up standards but to make it fair to everyone. My eldest has taken part in three shows and my little one in one show. They are just buzzing for days and weeks after the show. The skills they learn - team work, discipline, dance techniques, friendships they make and experiences they have are second to none. My little one was always so shy and the show has given her such a boost in confidence it is amazing to see. Signing up to SLDS shows is a commitment, but it is worth it and my girls can't wait for the next one!
