  1. Hi Ko I saw that too and thought the same, contacting them is on my list of things to do next week I appreciate the thought
  2. Has anyone heard when the Dulwich leisure centre will re-open?
  3. I sympathise with you all_star, I hope Surma act on it after you brought it to their attention, Mr Ali (the manager) is a genuinely nice guy and tries to make everything perfect for his customers. I'm sure there will be another poll towards the end of the year as to which was the best Indian Restaurant in East Dulwich during 2007, that gives the other restaurants time to spruce up their act and try to get their hands on the prestigious award.
  4. Green & Blue Wines on Lordship Lane kindly offered you, the users of this forum, a free wine tasting session following the discussion of them on this thread. That wine tasting session is to take place in four weeks time on Wednesday 28th February at 7:30pm and is limited to 15 people. To attend you must send me, The Administrator, a Personal Message so I can organise who's going. Lines are now closed When the list is full I will post a message up here of who's coming, please don't just turn up on the night because if your name's not down you won't be able to come in. If you want to bring one other person please let me know as I must limit it to 15 people. This is open to all registered users of the forum, even if you haven't posted a message on here you're more than welcome to attend. As long as you're on the list that is.
  5. I have had to "edit and cut what people say" about 3 times before this, and out of the thousands of posts that are on here that's not many and believe me it really isn't the preferred course of action. When an unregistered user posts comments that are just against the system as a whole and are not really related to the fact that a local shop has opened, it's frowned upon. I shall re-instate the messages just so people can see what you guys are on about and if you want to continue this discussion please do so on another thread. (I think it was mentioning EDKiwi that made me go weak and give in)
  6. The messages posted afterwards went off topic and so were removed [Edited] - The messages (which are actually above this one) were reinstated because of public pressure, see my message below
  7. As this is a newly opened local shop, and Petals asked us nicely about posting on here, we are more than happy to support them on the forum by allowing this promotion. We wish them all the best
  8. Going to have to lock this thread I'm afraid, I'm sure Ganapatis on the corner of Bellenden Road is good but this thread is about Surma, the Best Indian Restaurant in East Dulwich.
  9. Owing to the importance of this incident we have made this a special announcement across the forum. Good luck in finding Dylan everyone.
  10. ...because they were voted the Best Bar in East Dulwich 2006 by people on this forum. By being sticky and therefore at the top of the list they're getting more publicity than the other bars in the area who will get jealous and make more of an effort to win the coveted title of Best Bar in East Dulwich 2007. They won't be sticky for much longer though, there's a piece about Surma receiving their award for being the Best Indian Restaurant in East Dulwich 2006 going up shortly.
  11. Father Christmas, we spotted that the original reference was to a posting by Filiz too, that's why there was a request to change the text of the original post from 'according to..." to 'apparently'. Edited - Ooops, we were misinformed about the validity of the news, it is mentioned on the website, so Filiz's original posting is back in its original state. Apologies for that, the elf who told us has been downsized to an imp. ps Please can we have snow in East Dulwich this Christmas?
  12. Please look over here The EDKiwi Soapbox where our antipodean friend has his very own place of worship / abuse. That's the place to judge him and discuss his purpose in life. thanks
  13. This thread is/was/is again about property prices in East Dulwich. Whilst I agree that standing around on the job and drinking shed loads of tea and slagging off the Poles for working really hard and taking all the jobs is a point of discussion I'm afraid it's going to have to continue on another thread. Please feel free to start a new one and I'll link to it from here for anyone who wants to follow it. Sorry, but it's gone way too far off the original topic and it's not fair on people who are interested in East Dulwich property prices.
  14. It would be good to know if any of the local gyms have any New Year promotions going on, so if you know of any please do post them on here. We did try and ask JAGS if they've any forthcoming promotions (as people on this forum are liking them) but they thought we were selling something and said "we're not interested". Anyway in the interest of the health (and the pockets) of the people of East Dulwich please do share with us any money saving new years fitness benefits.
  15. If anyone see that a bar / pub restaurant has something going on on NYE then please tell them to post it on this site. The best place is here http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/list.php?6 in the 'what's on in East Dulwich section's. That section's a bit scare on postings at the moment so we might close it, but we don't want to because a fair few people look at it so any help is greatly appreciated thanks
  16. Whilst we do appreciate that Ganapati is a very good and authentic Indian Restaurant and worth trying if you haven't done so already (especially for the Thali), it is however outside the catchment area of this poll and we have to leave it out.
  17. Congratulations to Surma Curry House, 42 Lordship Lane which is officially the Best Indian Restaurant in East Dulwich 2006 as voted by you, the people of East Dulwich. Congratulations to them, a trophy will be with them in the new year and thank you to all those who voted. The East Dulwich Forum Team
  18. The voting has now started over here, or you can tell people to go to eastdulwichforum.co.uk/vote I did try and merge these threads together so that the votes would be at the top and these messages below but that cocked things up and scrubbed the forst few votes that were there on Monday morning. If your vote was scrubbed you can vote again.
  19. Sorry, looking at the map it it's not close enough to East Dulwich.
  20. OK, so it looks like there's some competition out there for the best Indian Restaurant in East Dulwich so we will be starting a vote on Monday, unsurprisingly called the "The Best Indian Restaurant in East Dulwich 2006". It will last two weeks until midnight Monday 18th December and again, to ensure a fair vote and to stop cheating, this will be open only to registered users of this site. It will be between all Indian restaurants within the East Dulwich/SE22 area, the list we have compiled is: Mirash Tandoori, 94 Grove Vale Surma Curry House, 42 Lordship Lane Curry Cabin, 96 Lordship Lane Dulwich Tandoori, 54 Lordship Lane Pistachio Club Restaurant, 44 Lordship Lane Tandoori Nights, 73 Lordship Lane The Coriander, 120 Lordship Lane Omrith, Forest Hill Road Spice Republic, 499 Lordship Lane Are we missing any? Thank you to Spencer for suggesting this poll, voting starts next Monday morning, may the Best Indian Restaurant in East Dulwich win... The Administrator The East Dulwich Forum
  21. Its a consideration that we looked into and having researched this for a previous job we know that the majority of people are used to reading down and expect replies to a message below that messages. Having said that some do like to read the last/latest message first. A Top Tip to help, on the list of topics page e.g. here, under the heading Last Post it will typically say something like: Today, 01:17PM Last Post by Alex Last post is actually a link to the last post, I hope you find this a worthy compromise yours The Administrator
  22. Good point Tom, we'll try and set it up this week. I think we're going to lose the What's on in East Dulwich section as it's not being used. We haven't the time or money to approach people to encourage them to post their event so we can certainly put a 'classified/for' sale board up in it's place and see how that goes thanks The Administrator
  23. The message before Quaywe's last message has been removed for being spurious The Administrator
  24. OK, so the posting from "Chris Holmes" above uses the email address [email protected], send an email to it and it bounces back with the error message 'user unknown'. This is really annoying as we don't know if "Chris" has put in a accidentally incorrect email address or is telling lies. However someone with the same IP address (that's a kind of a computer's ID although not 100% accurate) has posted a few other messages which are suspicious. We don't like to step in on the forum but we are going to temporarily ban this person's IP from posting on this website and put notes against their postings telling readers to read with a pinch of salt. We hope you understand. People like "Chris" who post dubious comments behind fake persona's are silly and probably have underlying issues that should be dealt with professionally, not on the East Dulwich Forum. By all means post your thoughts as it's an open forum but you must be able to accept responsibility for your post and not hide behind fake names (especially one's as dull as Chris, Gary, David and Lee). Sorry to anyone who has posted comments in reply to this faker person but it's really good to know that there's strong feelings in East Dulwich about East Dulwich Thank you for using the forum properly, now who has some juicy gossip about Lordship Lane...? The Administrator The East Dulwich Forum This ban may effect some innocent users, if you are unable to post please contact us (link at the bottom of the page) and we'll try and work something out
