  1. I think it does matter what toilet you bring children into. Back in my early days I worked with under fives, and we would take them out and about to various places. If I was taking care of a girl, there was no question about which lavatory I would visit. Always the Ladies. I'd ensure that if there were women in the place they were clear about why I was there, I don't ever remember a time when I was taken to task by a woman using the facilities, they were either understanding, or actively helpful. I wouldn't dream of taking a little girl into a gent's toilet. Men lined up at urinals? Spitting and farting? No, there are some things that a child doesn't need to see. Woodie, I know the people in the Uplands. Explain what you're doing, they'll understand and all will be coo-day-la.

Like the time I spent two hours there without hearing any racist remarks ... or when the fight was stopped without involving a blood transfusion. Actually, emmah PGC's right. I hang my head in shame.

  7. April Skies - The Jesus And Mary Chain. In June an' all. Oh well.
  8. After that I think the brown star that is this thread may well implode on coming into contact with MP's post. I doff my cap in your direction and tug my forelock in admiration. Great stuff.
  9. Definitely go with the Ferry version of AHRGF. I have a soft spot for Ian Hunter doing A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square. Also worth a mention is The Futureheads version of Hounds of Love.
  10. Thinking up innuendos isn't as simple as it used to be. Time was when I could toss them off 'til the cows came. Sadly they don't come that quickly any more

  12. I haven't watched it tonight. I never do until at least three weeks in. Let them get a bit of cabin fever going so it can truly be the freak show it should be. Then it's OK for a couple of weeks or so and I lose interest. Still this year I'm determined to join in the fun, so sight unseen here goes. The scantily dressed blond(e) really gave it some 'attitude' on the way in to the house didn't (s)he? The geeeky bloke seems out of place. The black guy with the degree put out 'trying too hard' vibes very early I thought. The other black guy was very 'street', very 'edgy'. Thought he was unwise to introduce his breakdancing skills this early though. The short bucktoothed girl who revealed that she was a cook made a good move. The 'wacky' ones who all seemed 'up for it' and 'mad' X 6. Vote out fodder. The depressive of indeterminate gender. Could go either way. Gosh, Davina's looking well, isn't she? Eeer That's it.
  13. No one at all you silly sausages, the sun had his hat on all day. Hip hip hip hooray.

What, all of America? Every last man jack of them. The blacks who may be motivated to vote for 'their' candidate? The much derided liberals? The fact he's the first black prospect is significant, is it not? What's more interesting than his race is that he does not seem to be beholden to too many vested interests for his campaign.
  15. I find myself facing the vexing matter of floor coverings once again. My hallway and sleeping quarters both require a refit and I am on the horns of a dilemma. Carpet? Oak boards? Which in where? Should I plump for a quality shag up my passageway and lay down some wood in the bedroom? Or vice-versa? Honestly I don't know whether I'm coming or going.
