Yes Jeff you are correct - that is what happened. Technically, the Cadet part was built first, before the old place was demolished.

It was Highwood Barracks! A TA barracks with lots of garages on the side where the cadet centre is today. MoD sold it off, built the Cadet Centre at one end, the rest is housing.

Cardiff and Swansea are also very reasonable to rent in, particularly when you move out of hall in year 2. You don't have to be in halls at all, of course. Cardiff's a Russell Uni too. -
