  1. Loz, you talk about Christianity. What was Christian about this hypocrite? What on God's earth can be worse than perpetrating the torture of children? Getting off on the torture of children? Are we to love him? Are you nuts? Are you unable to understand the harm done to these kids? Or what. And what can be worse than doing what he did while masquerading as a man of God. And Mr Ben, yes, some child abusers say they were abused themselves. A nice defence. But those who were do not go on to abuse. In fact, most, if not all, as adults, go on to abuse only themselves, via alcohol, drugs or self harm. Surely, if you were hurt in this way, you would not then want to do the same to others. A spurious argument. What is it with you apologists?
  2. Exactly, Edcam - and hello sailor. You've hit the nail on the head. He may well have been tormented by his twisted desires, though I doubt it as he didn't end it all until his sickness was discovered. He feared the consequences of that, not what he had become. A coward too, in other words. I do feel for his family - it's not in any way their fault. They will move on because of that. And I'm sure they share our opprobrium, amid their grief and shock.
  3. To have committed this evil while purportedly being a representative of Christ on earth, is the greatest betrayal and hypocrisy of all. And yes, anyone who still calls it 'porn' needs to have a word with themselves. It is torture. And as to those bleating about burning in hell, those poor children in these godawful videos and pictures, are themselves living a daily hell, one that no one, never mind a child, should ever experience.
  4. All those people he helped and comforted? You mean behind his mask, I presume. Meanwhile, he was viewing - and worse, sadistically getting off on - watching the real-life torture, physically and emotionally, of children. As to 'separate the good stuff from his personal issues'? Jesus! This is exactly the attitude of the C of E, which said, "We are all flawed human beings..." Yes, we are all 'flawed', but not to the extent of torturing little children, whether directly, or indirectly - as this man did - by encouraging the committing of these vile inhuman acts and the proliferation of them. No 'good' anyone could do could compensate for this.
  5. Thanks Lynne. The police seem more clued up on this now than when it happened to you, as they told me it's happening a lot these days, due to the recession. Here's hoping.
  6. This morning I awoke to find my front number plate stolen. I rang the police and they logged it, and they said they will contact DVLA. Probably done overnight. No doubt I'll get several parking tickets, congestion charge fines etc, if not worse - but I'll be ok as I reported it and now have a crime number. I asked the police why did thieves only take one plate. They said they may have been disturbed before they took the back one, but added that petrol station thieves often have two different fake plates on their cars, to baffle the CCTV, although it's risky for them driving around. They may also use my plate on a car to ram a shop or commit some other crime. I took my car to Kwik Fit later today (you have to take your V5 doc) and my new plate arrives tomorrow morning. It'll cost about ?25. The police said they'll be stopping any car with my number plate once spotted - including, he warned, me, though as long as I have my V5 I'll be fine. Has anyone else suffered this?
  7. Reading about Our Own Dear Leader Peter John's jollies courtesy of Lend Lease was shocking. I await the outcome of the current investigation into that.
  8. Oh, ha ha Strafer! I just got your joke! I feared for her pupils - so a bit bug-eyed was she. Very good. Sorry, I'm often a slow with jokes. That's good, I have to say Strafer!
  9. Ha ha, Strafer. No, not bug-eyed. I don't remember her saying she'd been turned into an alien. She truly believed she'd been abducted though. Funnily enough I had a strange experience here in ED/Peckham borders a long time ago. I woke up very early one morning, about 5am, convinced there was a spaceship outside waiting for me - I visualised it in my mind as a glowing, gold Ford Cortina. So I got up, and let myself and my little dog out of the front door and closed it behind me. Then I walked to the gate, baffled as to why the 'space car' wasn't there yet. Then I really woke up, to the horror of standing in my front garden dressed only in a T-shirt (nothing, and I mean nothing, else). I managed to smash the far side of my bay window with a large stone and after carefully depositing my dog in away from the shattered glass, climbed in myself and went straight back to bed. Luckily no one saw the broken window as it was hidden by part of a hedge. I have double glazing now, so just hope it never happens again! It was the first and only time I'd sleepwalked. Mind you, I was so convinced this craft was coming for me. And more than a little disappointed when it failed to turn up. I went very willingly. Strange, eh.
  10. In Paris I sat on a bus next to a female secondary school teacher who proceeded to tell me that she was abducted by aliens, so not all 'white trash'. She was barmy though. I feared for her pupils.
  11. I can recommend Jane - she walks my little dog Daisy regularly and is very professional and Daisy gets very waggy-tailed whenever she arrives - a good sign! She's on 07936 338 128
  12. I do agree, however, that Spurrier is just plain wrong.
  13. May I remind you that this is East Dulwich. Such goings on do not happen here.
  14. I've found that 99.9 percent of the time people turn up. And when they do they come with great personality and charm, so we end up having a great chat too, which is a bonus. There's only one person who has stood me up - twice. And she seems to be a serial abuser.
  15. And yet highly offensive, i*rate - especially the questions regarding the poster's financial position and the 'letting out' insinuation. And I don't see anywhere in Sue's post that she wouldn't be paying for the job! In fact, quite the contrary - as she says it's for 'anyone who would like some work...' That usually means paid work.
  16. I can hear what sounds like a gun battle going on around Lordship Lane. Can't be fireworks.
  17. Just like to big Jane up here. Daisy loves her!
  18. I personally know of several businesses, but they aren't actually accredited with the London Living Wage scheme yet. They should do so, so that they can be out and proud, and advertise the fact. The Ivy House was the first in our hood and is so far the only one accredited, bless them, but I may be wrong. But if the Ivy House can do it, so can any other business. Watch this space. I shall update once I check with the companies. And once we have a list of local small businesses doing this, we can shame the conglomerates such as Tesco's and Sainsbury's into following suit. Even Goldman Sachs for god's sake, abides by the London living wage! As does Southwark Council, amazingly.
  19. This argument about smaller businesses going bust if they paid the london living wage is spurious. There are many small businesses locally paying it (let's hear it for the Ivy House, who are actually accredited!).
  20. LM wrote: "The fact that a business may not be able to run without them is irrelevant " What?!
