can someone look after my cats and chickens on sat 18th August
Ukjoncollins replied to eggandsquares's topic in The Lounge
Hi sam, Dropped you an email. Cheers, Jon -
Hi, just wondering if anyone around Melbourne Grove'ish (near the police station end) area has any animals (or plants) that would be willing to do a kind of looking-after-exchange whilst we're/they're away? We've got a few chickens that need letting out in the morning and shutting up in the evening and a cat that needs feeding. We're going away next weekend and it would be great if someone could look after them. Its really simple to do and shouldn't cause you any bother (other than a few minutes in the morning and a few minutes in the evening). In return we'll happily return the favour when you're away and feed/walk/watering your animals/plants. Many thanks, Jon

Travel from East Dulwich / Peckham to Chiswick
Ukjoncollins replied to craigyboy71's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I work a few stops on in Syon Lane, currently the fastest way (when traffic calms back down again) seems to be the 185 to Vauxhall then the train from there although a train from ED to Clapham and then on to Chiswick isn't too much longer. To be honest with you, currently it'll always take you somewhere between 1 - 2 hrs whatever way you do it. You soon get used to it though. -
I wouldn't say Greenwich is a patch on East Dulwich tho... Its nice yer but nowhere near as cool as ED.

I'd say if you can find a suitable house here (we really struggled) you'd love it! ED is awesome with so much going on, just check out the whats on section on here! On top of that its only a night bus away from central london so we still manage to go out clubbing. The pubs and bars are awesome too although it does all shut down at mid night.

Yer the fibre optic setup which is a nightmare... The customer service is awful.. They tried to pull all sorts of crap with my housemate who didn't quite understand it all. I've been using their business service in a different location for 2 years and never really had a problem with it. Consumer service though, wouldn't touch them with a barge pole again if i can help it.

Yer virgin tell us there upgrading to double speed end of July but quite frankly the current 30Mb package ranges from speeds of 30Mb down to below 3Mb sometimes and their customer service is worse than awful so i'd think twice before signing a contract with them.

Fantastic idea. The cinema/bar combo is a great concept which should definitely be embraced! There are so many things you could do keep people interested and I think it would be fantastic if you could offer promotions on independent and slightly more obscure films people wouldn't usually see.

My Grandad is a farmer and has told me horrific stories of this before. They swoop down and peck the eyes out of young lambs. Apparently it kills them fairly quickly due to the shock but sounds a pretty horrific way to die... Although I don't think he's a fan of doing this, he goes out and shoot the crows to at least warn them away. Not sure you'll be able to do this in ED though. Best to probably to not let the cat out I guess...

Anyone know of any particular hotspots for Elderflower trees in or around East Dulwich? Jon

Whilst I'm no fan of Iceland, replacing it with an m & s is a terrible proposition. The Iceland lorries cutting through Melbourne grove is bad enough as it is with out increasing the amount of produce that needs to get in and out of the unit. On top of this the additional competition to that end of the market is going to have a negative effect on local businesses within the area and in essence the local shops which for east is it's heart are going to start to struggle as they can't compete with m & s prices. Very sad news indeed. Jon

Stik the street artist is painting Dulwich
Ukjoncollins replied to IngridB's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Gotta say, I've only seen two of the pieces so far and I really really like them. I'd pay to go and see art like this. Surely the point of art to be controversial. If it doesn't make people talk what is the point of it? We should be embracing this not quietly bitching about it on the internet. Jon -
