  1. Chancellor Merkel has started negotiations with six Balkan countries to join the EU Serbia, Albania, Northern Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and Kosovo https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/germany-give-3-mln-covid-19-shots-western-balkans-merkel-2021-07-05/
  2. My nature is to wait and see what happens to the first people to go out - as once I start going out again it'll be irreversible as Boris says - those pints won't drink themselves :)
  3. Government Solution: Don't publish case data. I fully expect the above.
  4. Right Said Fred tweeted that Mask Wearers are superfluous. So there - you've been told in no uncertain terms.
  5. I haven't got a link but I saw recently an article by a former top floor owner flat now built on top of talking of all the issues to drainage and leaks and noise caused by the build. They didn't seem to consider the existing residents in their plans.
  6. Flat owners have building on top of current flats. The problem for both issues is it won't be done tastefully with nice looking buildings that don't damage the neighbouring buildings - it'll be cheap tat that may catch fire or flood or cause noise issues.
  7. Not sure of the current pub capacity - but I guess it's still no one allowed to stand - which is why they're so fully booked. Tables should be 1 meter apart too.
  8. Simplistic calculation: So if vaccine efficacy is 90% and we had a death rate of 1700 at the last peak If cases go up to the last peak can we expect about 170 per day at this peak ?
  9. A lower maximum speed of 12.5mph That's walking pace (edit: well jogging). https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/media/press-releases/2021/may/tfl-and-london-councils-announce-london-s-e-scooter-trial-will-begin-in-june

    Scam or not

People are trying to charge for free services at the moment - not so much a scam but trying to charge you for a simple internet search. If they charge - just find the free service.

Jetpacks and hoverboards - I still hope. I have seen the word "cloud" just take over everything in networks recently and am maybe projecting LOL :)
  12. I try so hard to manage the distance between swimmers in lanes - I slow down, I wait a little, I speed up or turn faster. I'm like a bus regulating my service.
  13. Which of course means all our chat about routes becomes superfluous as the cloud decides your route. you just decide destination.
  14. These Leccy cars are going to have in built speed limitation aren't they :) It'll be like trams just following each other and centrally (cloud) managed navigation.
  15. Some of them say "This advert was shot before Covid" at the bottom. That excuse is running out now though

Sometimes I wonder that for all Cummings failings this is actually what he meant in his ramblings. Not that I'm making excuses for him.

I get the feeling it won't be automatic - but the marriage value bit might change. Personally I wouldn't do leasehold again if I could avoid it as you are liable to huge bills for repairs at any time - I know freeholders are too but the last few years have scared me as you feel so helpless.
  18. The philosophy of this government (especially when Cummings was around but still now) seems to be that to get things done they need to work outside the civil service rules.
  19. QF - England versus Ukraine in Rome then No fans should be able to travel there from UK - Bet Boris gets there :)

  21. The ;) means of course there is no easy match.
  22. Got to give England their due - well done. Easy run to the final now :) Sweden/Ukraine -> Denmark/Czech I mean how could they fail ;)
  23. Good old Germany - supportive in every way. But come penalty time :)
  24. LOL - It doesn't really matter to me too much but outside my flat has now become an unofficial taxi rank late at night (it's the nearest the Ubers can get to pick people up) I don't think this can be permanent without someone thinking up how it'll operate though.
