  1. I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old. They have all-seasons duvets so i can swap them from a thin one in summer. to a thicker one in autumn and then put them both together if it gets really cold. Think they're 4.5 tog and 9 tog. Currently got the 9 tog on and its about right as our heating isn't on at all yet.

My mum is a bit of a duvet expert and always swears by fogarty. Debenhams have a sale section where you can usually pick up some bargains. Think I got ours at half price.

  2. We went yesterday. It was absolutely brilliant! Had three generations of the family there, and everyone loved it.

We bumped into the amazing chinese acrobats in WHSmith this morning, and my 2 year old gave them a quick run down of the show!! "Me not like the clown spitting. Why did the bird man keep coming back. Me like the high up men. What were the horses called? Why Woody and Buzz? Why not Jessie? Me did lots of clapping! Why those ladies got shiny pants on?" Not sure they understood much of what she was saying but they were very excited that we'd recognised them!

  3. I liked the idea of an extending bed, until my husband pointed out that it means you have to buy different sized mattresses and then find somewhere in our already too crowded house to keep them!

With daughter number 1 we bought a john lewis toddler bed, which we were really really happy with and is still under her current bunk bed as I can't bring myself to sell it yet! Daughter number 2 went straight from her cot to the bottom bunk bed.

  4. I have a 2 and a half year age gap between my girls. It was a perfect gap for us as No 1 had just started preschool a couple of mornings a week, was potty trained and was riding her scooter enough to not need a pram and i could make do with a buggy board. All these little things had given her a sense of independence before no 2 came along and I was always careful to involve her and ask her to help out with the baby, and to moan to her when the baby was having a particularly whingey day. She became quite good at rolling her eyes and saying things like "she can't be hungry again already can she?"

Mellors bathtime routine is almost identical to what I used to do, and No 2 was a much better sleeper from quite an early age.

  5. I agree with prdarling about the unfairness of late applications going above you on a waiting list. This made me really cross last year when I didn't initially get allocated any of my 4 chosen schools. I also think its unfair that people who didn't initially apply to a school can then put themselves on a waiting list and go ahead of someone who applied, on time, and listed that school as their first choice. Just seems like their are no benefits to applying on time.
