  1. Yes, my daughters love Girls United. Excellent coaches, brilliant atmosphere.
  2. My daughters have been going to these sessions and absolutely love them. Highly recommend Girls United.
  3. I have a daughter at Deptford Green and I have only positive things to say about the school and the teaching. Very pleased. To be honest Monkey I find your comment about no one wanting to put it on their list incredibly rude. Each year more parents put it as their first choice, and rightly so.
  4. Hello If anyone is currently looking for a dance class for their child I just wanted to mention a fantastic dance class my 7 year old daughter has just attended in Nunhead. We went to a taster session and signed straight up for next term. http://www.arcdanceacademy.co.uk It was a small class with a brilliant teacher. My very shy daughter was put very quickly at ease and made to feel very welcome. (I promise that this is not my business - I am a genuine customer!!)
  5. And we wouldn't have been given the school as people who live 3 streets nearer didn't get it either
  6. I asked for advice not to be lectured. We are very happy with our given school otherwise we wouldn't that've listed it in the order we did. I see no disadvantage in keeping our options open if that is possible.
  7. Hi Renata. Thanks for your reply. Not changed our mind but we love our third choice but live slightly too far away so knew it wasn't a realistic choice which is why we put them in the order we did. Just wanted to see if we stood a chance on the waiting list.
  8. Renata, could I please clarify something regarding waiting lists? If we received our second choice school is it still possible to stay on the waiting list of our lower preference schools. I emailed all the schools yesterday and one has just replied saying that as I have accepted a higher placed school I am not on their waiting list Thanks
  9. Pick up some Phenergan from the pharmacy. Works like a dream for my travel sick children. Never been on a catamaran but it's worked every time in cars, buses and planes
  10. What a shame you are not willing to think about families living in the blackhole of catchment areas.
  11. I supported Haberdashers bid as they were at least willing to consider measuring from a point in the middle of the black hole of catchment areas. Charter do not seem willing to do the same. Therefore their school will be of no use to me, and many others.
  12. I can't believe the catchment area is so big that people are incapable of walking!!! It says the furthest distance ever offered was 2000m but that could have been 10 years ago! Bet it's not that far these days.
  13. I had to complain to MyHermes three times as the delivery driver kept throwing parcels over my fence into my back garden - even if it was raining.
  14. As a Nunhead resident i feel incredibly strongly that we are desperately in need of a secondary school but are more than adequately provided with primary schools. As a parent who needs to apply for secondary school for my daughter next year I feel that the current situation is completely demoralising. I do not live near enough any school to be confident of getting a place. There is a massive black hole in the Nunhead/Peckham Rye area.
  15. Thanks. I have had a quote for sone reindeer - the hire charge would be more than the entire fair will raise!
  16. I think the star thing is fine. My gran died a year ago when my girls were 5 and 8. They understood that she had died but they still like to search the skies for our cat star and for our special gran star. Why is it bad to have a physical thing to remember them by? We do not live near enough to visit my grans grave very often but she is kept in her great granddaughters thoughts every time they spot a particularly twinkly star.
  17. Hello I have been tasked with organising the Grotto at our school Winter Fair. I would absolutely love to have some animals there and just wondered if anyone has ever hired donkeys or reindeer for a similar event?? Thanks
  18. I'm not sure the schools are the best people to ask as even if there is a space it is still the Local Authority which has to allocate it. The LA should be able to tell you where you are on the waiting list for the schools you are interested in. If my friends experience is anything to go on I would advise ringing Southwark Council every day for updates!
  19. When my daughters were 3 and 6 our lovely old cat had to be put to sleep at the age of 19. It happened very quickly, she became unwell during the night and the next morning me and the 3 year old took her to the vet. The prognosis was terrible so we decided to have her put to sleep there and then. My daughter stroked her and talked to her and the vet was amazing, he explained that when you love your pet sometimes you have to let them be put to sleep so that they don't hurt anymore. We stayed with our cat as she went off to sleep. I had no idea what to expect but it was really peaceful and calm. He injected her and she just very calmly laid down in her normal sleeping position and drifted off. The vet left us for a while (I was sobbing, my daughter was completely fine!) My eldest daughter was at school and she was incredibly upset that she didn't get to be with her. They have both said that they want to be with our other cat if a similar situation arises. Its a bit twee but I told them that our cat would have gone off to be a star, and now on starry nights we look out for the brightest star in the sky and know that our cat is still with us. They love that idea.
  20. We got a charter leaflet and we live near Queens Road Station, so a very long way out of catchment!
  21. Michael Gove scares me. That letter makes very depressing reading.
