Haberdashers Consultation Meeting 10th July 7pm
clux replied to parentsteeringgroup's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for the meeting. I thought it was really useful to meet the staff from Haberdashers. And speaking as someone who lives in a black hole of no secondary schools, and who has a non-catholic daughter due to start secondary school in 2016, I feel really pleased that they will consider public opinion when it comes to finally deciding how the admissions will work. -

Will you be going as far as Nunhead? -

New Charter School on Dulwich Hospital Site
clux replied to littlek1cker's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I agree with toffeese15. Identical admission policies mean this school is of virtually no use to anyone not already living near to Charter. On these grounds I wish to withdraw my support for the Charter bid and will be fully supporting Haberdashers. -

Sorry, I'm getting confused with all the talk of various schools! Just incredibly frustrated that I live in a total black hole for secondary schools -

My daughter will also be starting secondary school in 2016. We live in Nunhead but will be too far from the proposed site to get a place. So Nunhead School will not be for people living in Nunhead. Ridiculous. -

I agree with the need for fair banding. We live in Nunhead and aren't in catchment for any secondary schools. I have a daughter in year 4 - do I really have to move to get her a place in a local school?? -

Perfect family friendly holiday cottage in Norfolk
clux posted a topic in The Family Room Discussion
My friends have just finished renovating a cottage in Sheringham which they are now renting out. They have three small children of their own so have ensured the cottage is fully equipped for fsmilies. Having grown up in Norfolk they are also full of recommendations for best ice cream, perfect crabbing spot, best pub lunch, optimum kite flying beach etc. http://www.glavenvalley.co.uk/criss-cottage/ They still have the last week in July available but August was completely booked within their first week on the rental market! -

I completely agree with LondonMix. As I stated further up the thread I DO want to state a preference. I DO NOT want to support both, stating that each one is my first choice! What a ridiculous situation. -

But what if we would like to state a preference?? -
Harris Free School Primary on Hospital Site
clux replied to Lou's topic in The Family Room Discussion
As a Nunhead resident I feel really angry about this. How can you call a school Harris Nunhead if it is nowhere near Nunhead?? Is the name supposed to make Nunhead residents believe that it will somehow help the children living here get a school place?? My children are already at primary school but it was a worrying time as we are not in "catchment" for any - and the secondary situation is even worse. -
Anyone have an "induction" hob? Any good?
clux replied to Polmoche's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have one and think its brilliant. Did have to go and buy a whole new set of saucepans though as our old ones didn't work on it! -
I had no idea the two smaller ones were free. And both times we walked past there wasn't a queue and they weren't full.

Saw the man in charge of the slide having a row with a 10 year old boy who was asking if his friend could go back on as he'd tripped at the top and fallen down rather than slid down. The man just said "go away. NOW!". Think it could have been handled slightly better!!

I agree edanna. They were rude and unfriendly to adults and kids alike. Absolutely no need for it. It ruined the fair a bit for us.

Anyone else horrified by the bouncy slide at the Goose Green Fair charging ?1 for ONE go????

Mudlarking on the beach along the Southbank is good. Can always find some pottery or an old clay pipe to take in for show and tell.

We were 7th on the list for our first choice school a few years ago. We got offered a place two weeks in to term. There is quite a lot of movement is I think you have a very good chance.

Oh god, that's terrible. What reason did they give?? There are some very helpful admissions experts on the primary education section of mumsnet who are always happy to give advice.

I'm another one agreeing with SplendidLikePeckham. I have a daughter in year 4 and am already terrified of where she might end up at secondary school as we seem to be in catchment for none!
