  1. Hi Need someone to replace a broken panel of our stained glass front door. Anyone recommend someone who does this? ta
  2. Hi I want to rebuild our company website from scratch - Existing website will act as a good template but we need to increase its functionality, flexibility and most importantly i want to own all source code etc. So any good web developers who are up for the job please get in contact. Cheers Steve
  3. ha yes, i am a councillor sat in a nice new glass fronted building, wearing a grey suit and comfortable shoes doing not very much (no offence James etc)... The reason for starting this post was two fold: a) To try and wind a few people up (you know who you are) b) To give an insight (early days i agree) into what life is like in a CPZ area... and so far it's ok. Anyway all the best James B... errghh sorry i mean Garnwba
  4. "teacher... teacher..." garnwba is talking about SE5.... dear oh dear mikeb *sigh* I think you missed the point - this is about the failed attempt to bring in a CPZ in SE22.
  5. firstmate - indeed part of my post was to stoke the fire - childish i know... BUT.... i did think it appropriate as a supporter of CPZ i should share that i did do something about it (moved) and for me and my family it works better. loz - i used to live on Melbourne Grove, please excuse if me if i don't tell you my new address, PIN Number etc GM99 - bizarre post - try lambeth not southwark gsirett - Ah good to hear from you Mscrawthew - Actually getting it was (surprisingly) painless - 20 mins down at the center to register and from now on it is 100% online via an "App"... Modern technology is wonderful
  6. Not wanting to stoke the fire but..... Having sold up and moved out (1 month ago) of SE22 non CPZ hell zone and now living less than 1 mile away in postcode SE5 that is CPZ (between 10-2pm Mon - Fri ONLY). I have to say that although i am ?145 worse off, i can now park outside my house every single day (imagine such a thing), I have no commuter traffic clogging the roads (and yet i live near a station), workmen etc plan their trips to avoid the CPZ times (thus making it even easier to nail down when they will arrive), there is a lovely community spirit AND all the local shops still seem to be open and survive...
  7. last night was actually the Indian new year which follows Diwali - bit like the ?500,000 worth of firewors the major sets off each year at our New year post 10.30pm....... or is that different minder / ratty?
  8. benmorg, how does double yellow lines help reduce speeding traffic? Surely the traffic jams slow traffic? What Melborne Grove definately doesn't need is to make it easier for cars to drive down it! Junction of Melbourne and EDG should have mini roundabout Melbourne Grove should be made one way and Derwent one way in the opposite direction - thus solving all problems
  9. According to the offical "olympic travel planner", the recommended route for East Dulwich to Charing Cross is: Bus to Denmark hill, train to elephant and castle, tube to charing cross - Journey time 1.07 So if all the tourists are using that load of rubbish as guidance then us locals should be fine!
  10. what kind of weirdo writes a note and sticks it on a car....??? dear oh dear some people really need to get a life or get locked up in a padded cell. Pity them for having such an empty existence and don't lose an ounce of sleep over the ramblings of a nutter ** please oh please let the person who wrote it be on this forum***
  11. Love all the parking fears - especially those coming from the people who only a few months ago claimed that there weren't any parking problems at the other end of Melbourne Grove and voted against the CPZ.... All different now isn't it..... Ho hum
  12. gsirett - any chance you might be blowing this just an incy bit out of proportion?
  13. apologies peckhamboy - it was firstmate who mentioned current parking problems FYI The world of permit parking has moved on considerably since the days of scratch cards and having to buy in person. Compare it to how you renew your car tax now - via txt, online, in person so many options to choose from.
  14. some fair adn valued points that i agree with: This is deffo a money spinning opportunity both short and long term as the CPZ will i am sure grow (either through coucil stealth action or residents asking for it) I am also sadly sure that the due to the size and strange design of the suggested CPZ that surrounding roads will be affected negatively (it should be wider) However the reduction in numbers will be far greater than suggested because: a) the commuter traffic is far higher than the council figures suggest (certainly on lower half of M Grove) b) The people parking in the roads for schools etc will park elsewhere or seek alternative ways to get to work c) I have no doubt that many people will not buy a permit peckhambouy - you mention you have parking problems now but it is manageable - so i dearly hope if the CPZ is introduced it remains that way for you. If however it becomes unmanageable (our view in MB is exactly that) then i wonder if you too will seek a CPZ in your area?
  15. Loz - the introduction of a CPZ will have a significant reduction in the number of people who choose to park in the station area which is the main reason why so many people living outside it are against it The whole reduction in parking spaces.... that will have little to no impact when compared to: No commuters Residents not wishing to pay people might not like CPZ but there can be no doubt that in the main they achieve their objectives on the roads they are introduced on.
  16. Gsirett - Isn't your stance "people will be leaving next door to the CPZ so they should have their say" a little contradictory when put up against your other argument of "you live next door to the station so you should accept the consequences" Whilst i do (genuinely) admire your passion for this fight, I?m afraid your constant failure to admit that your No1 argument against is purely that your nice quiet convenient parking street will possibly become a parking nightmare is disappointing. Stealth tax, poor for community.... blah all bluff scare mongering You want to park outside your house.... which is exactly the same as the people for the CPZ
  17. Well i am of the mindset that CPZ's do work and it is the best solution and it would reduce commuter traffic in the station area drasticly with zero effect on trade - so i don't think anothr solution needs to be found We just need to find a way of getting more people to like it... which is probaly cost I suspect for every ? the permit cost is reduced, the more people will be in favour (within the CPZ area).. Council - reduce the fee and fix it for 3 years Hey presto a majority within the propsed zone
  18. at no point have i stated the results are irrelevant, i think they are actually very relevant. The consultation was just that though, a consultation - it was not a public vote to decide the outcome. The results show that the majority of people asked don't like the idea of the CPZ but this can't be taken as proof there isn't a parking problem and a solution shouldn't be found. I was disappointed that there doesn't seem to be any action point which investigates alternative options, it seems that we are facing a A) introduce a CPZ (of some sort) or b) do nothing.... which if it ends up being option b) doesn't help those of us who are facing daily issues It's sad as those residents who struggle to park have almost become irrelevant
  19. firstmate - ha ha brilliant You moan on about James B ignoring stats, only using info that helps his argument and then when faced with some information that is pro CPZ you reply: "Let us focus on East Dulwich and the process here"... (ie ignore anything that is pro CPZ) Ha ha brilliant
  20. After gsirett (i think) posted a warning note about how Barnet were all complaining about their CPZ and how the rates had increased, i emailed the main committee memeber to ask: despite your clear problems, would you prefer to keep the CPZ or go back to not having one?.. and they replied: "The answer to your question is that in the main we have been happy with the parking restrictions as we would not be able to park at all without it as we live near an underground station. However, we found it sufficient when it was in force for one hour daily to stop commuters. That way, we did not have to pay the exorbitant price of visitor vouchers six days a week (?4 for any length of time). For all those belating on that is doesn't work......Just saying.......
  21. I went this Sunday for a trim at the bargain price of ?10 - cheapest in ED by a long way and excellent quality. Welcome to the street GK
  22. A lot about how badly it is run, increase charges but no mention of wanting or wishing that the CPZ was removed though is there gsirett.......
  23. gsirett - why is is James's responsibility to flag up to you a property development that has been in the public domain for ages and has also been discussed on this very forum? Also now that we have established that the development company are a) not funding the CPZ and b) most probably be against a CPZ Perhaps you could explain how you feel it would have a material impact on the data presented when it hasn't been built yet and the residents will not be entitled to apply for CPZ permits Answer.. it doesn't Unless of course you think the data should take into consideration any potential changes to residential property in the ED are over say the next 25 years which might have an impact? It doesn't
