  1. Well said apmuso - and i am in total agreement that in Melbourne Grove a strong majority will be in favour of introducing the scheme. As i suspect will the council when they see the potential revenues.... Once the scheme is introduced (which we all know it will be) it will be interesting to see how many of the strong against posters on this thread remain that way if they are unfortunate enough to get a knock on effect and face the same issues us Melbourne Grove residents do now.....
  2. you don't hand on heart honestly believe that the majority of people who have gone through the "no permit to permit" transition wish they could go back do you? Having lived in one before i accept that when guests come to stay etc it is all a bit of a hassle but i think when it comes to the survey in autumn the majority will be willing to accept that as part of the deal
  3. "residents of Melbourne Grove should be careful what they wish for. They will pay for the scheme, additional permits for skips, contractors, nannys etc" extra permits for skips and nannys - you are joking, that is Outrageous... No no, my mistake, that is perfectly acceptable Next pointless agrument for the "against" side?
  4. If you want evidence of the commuter parking situation just check out melbourne grove at 5pm, go for a pint and then pop back at 6. You'll think you've got the wrong street. Tide of opinion is turning, parking restrictions are coming hoorah......
  5. Well if they do then they can phone up the council and beg for a parking permit in their road.... before we know it we will all be permit parking, everyone will be abe to park outside their own houses and trade will not be affected in the slightest. Come on Southwark, lets get the white paint and permit parking signs out.
  6. As a resident of Melbourne Grove i'd warn anyone thinking of moving to the street that parking is a total and utter nightmare. Don't buy a house unless you are willing to spend 20 minutes everyday driving round to try and find a space... oh and be happy that your car wing mirrors will be smashed off by drivers trying to squeese their way up the road. Bring on the controlled parking and i for one will have no issue in paying for a permit if it results in me being able to park within eye sight of my own house.
  7. Good news that Melbourne Grove will have a 20mph speed limit.... lets just hope it has more of an impact than the speed bumps which have done nothing apart from create entertainment for speeding mopeds.
  8. Hi We are considering sending our daughter to Mother Goose Nursery Waveney Av and would like any recent feedback. Due to assessment cycles it hasn't been assessed since 2007 so the only ofsted report available is now well out of date. Any comments / advice would be gratefully received.
  9. speed bumps are responsible for your car pulling to the left........ not unless you are hitting them at 40mph.
  10. I can't comment on Frien road but the Melbourne Grove "cut through" is simply ridiculous and doesn't even have speed bumps. Instead the council thinks it is far more effective and important to have 2 grown men drive around in a Mr Men car with a camera on a tripod trying to catch people parking in loading bays for 2 mins more than is legal rather than dealing with ignorant drivers haveing no respect for speeding limits. Good work council well done
  11. moaning on about the amount you have to pay if you park illegally - ridiculous If you choose to park where you shouldn't it is your own fault.
  12. After many conversations with O2 they have confired that they have been working on the mast which serves the local area resulting in the phone service going down most nights in November. Like me you may have noticed "inactive sim" on your phones? They have just refunded my line rental for that period - if you've been disrupted then suggest you give them a call.
  13. The woman is still knocking on doors asking for ?38.50 for a taxi fare as she needs to get up to Chelsea hospital because her Mother has just died. After the event i've read on this forum that she has tried it hundreds of times before. Anyway she got nothing but a "really" and then the door closed from us but just a warning that i'm sure she'll come knocking on your door soon.
