  2. walk the dog in the morning, normally open at 630ish
  3. If you do it on a Sunday all the restaurants have as much as you can eat for the kids and they get to choose what they want. Cheap and a good intro. Curry Cabin do a good one
  4. Saw one in the conservatory in the Plough. I doesnt cost to reserve and looked rather sweet with the benefit of any kids invited being able to run round the garden
  5. Yeh until his house is finished Scott will need somewhere to live...
  6. Hiya From Melbourne now in Dulwich. Melbourne very large suburban city. Anywhere around the bay is lovely - near beaches etc., though its not tidal and the beaches can be a little bit boring. Those closest to town South Melbourne are more urban the further from Melbourne they become more social etc., I would also look at up near Melbourne University (Parkville)and also Richmond and if you can afford it Torak. Enjoy
  7. The sea cow failed in Clapham common as the age of residents moved up. Similarly as Ed has got older The bishop, adventure bar etc., have all felt the change in age. Sea Cow is no exception. On a nice note they do have a very successful van operation so its not all bad. Thanks for 12 years....
  8. If you go to the Plough expect to wait around 40 mins for a drink
  9. Use this place in Ladywell. http://supremeanimalfoods.co.uk
  10. Sorry to jump in this late....but it was always my understanding that the owner had run the shop with their partner and when they died they left it as is. I think its not traded since the early 90s. Many people have offered to rent it but no offer has been accepted as the owner wants to keep as same. I think it's actually rather a romantic story. If true, a bit like the notebook.
  11. Calton Rd, Court lane and Turney during the school holidays even in the morning are silent. There is no problem with traffic. If I was coming up with Blue Sky ideas I would encourage/enforce the local schools to look at park and rides to school (drop off outside of Dulwich, enforce no drop off zones and encourage the use buses . Or even making (god forbid) kids walk. Once you work out that with the three private schools combined with local primaries and secondary schools, there are about 5,000 kids within a two mile radius going to school. Thats a lot of potential cars. Stop driving to and from school and you're half way there.
  12. I may be wrong but someone told me that the lights in Village Way/Red Post red light time had been increased by an additional 10 seconds allowing for a 17 second crossing. Same as up near Turney. Definitely noticed the same up at Herne Hill junction. Does seem that this has increased congestion and stressed aggressive driving.
  13. Hi In my opinion Howdens are a good option -well made. Builders like them because the carcases are pre built - i.e. you need to just attach them on the wall. The main issue is mark up. If you can get it at trade great, but most builders will put on a mark up. 10%-20% is reasonable but I have seen a ?4k Trade kitchen marked up to ?17k which still came in a little bit cheaper than buying it non trade. Worth looking at these guys as well http://www.theusedkitchencompany.com
  14. The George Canning just up from Sainsburys shows it
  15. One last post, as a dog owner who walks in Dulwich park, thought you'd appreciate the comment passed to me last week by a middle aged owner about their 10 month old spaniel, that "he wasn't sleeping through, and they had to bring in a dog sitter to put him to bed during the night" Mad parenting has now passed to canines....
  16. Having attended Moxons on the 31st and had a good chat to the staff it appears that very little fish was coming in from Scotland and Cornwall and most stock was from kent which was limited. Moxons is a brilliant fishmonger with fresh fish caught throughout the UK weather and holidays permitting so sometimes stock does change (unlike Sainsburys). Id also like to add that a couple of times when I've been to new billingsgate to buy fish direct (about 40% cheaper btw) I've bumped into staff from Moxons who've shown me the best suppliers and what to look for. Plus they pop into the local schools to talk about fish and sustainable fishing. Love them !
  17. Croxted Road Garden centre will do this. Cheers Hagrid
  18. Love Andrew He's kept my old Polo going for many years. really good mechanic and great price
  19. any puppy will normally like cats particularly if they are brought into a home with them and grow up next to them. Cats are quite clever they will normally stay out of the dogs way unless they take a shine to them. Bigger dogs such a labs and retrievers etc will normally always be ok, sometimes terriers can chase cats but not normally if they are socialised early enough. Hope this helps.
  20. hiya you've probably got a few inches of top soil with clay base below. Just put some sand in the ground (mixed in and flattened), a bit of loam and as as per Sue's comment work out how your going to walk across it i.e. flag stones. You may also want to try sedum mats if you don't want to water.
  21. Thanks for the mention of target arms, quality shop for decommissioned sub machines guns and air rifles. Completely forgot about it but well remembered!
  22. For winter quite like the left hand side of the plough pub (free to book and they close it off), upstairs at EDT, summer /spring - the Griffin in Dulwich Village and the cricket room at Dulwich College. You could also try the Peckham Liberal Club. For music, big budget and lots of people try Rivolli Ball Room Crofton Park/Brockely.
  23. Hi last year I bought a gift card for the wife at Lesley in Dul Village. She turned up 8 months later to book a treatment and was told they were only valid for 6 months. Nothing on the card - wasn't massively impressed to say the least.
