What on earth are you talking about? If you're trying to be funny you're failing miserably, if you're being serious you need help.
  2. Cheapest to go ED-East Croydon-Gatwick BUT check times and service carefully first.
  3. Crikey - this really is like the Daily Mail! Some astonishingly ignorant and prejudiced comments here. I think it would do a few people good to be in someone else's shoes for a bit.
  4. I wasn't really replying to your post, I was referring to the post on p. 3. And I'll discuss whatever I please on here thanks, it's an open forum. 5. Not many poor people drive 4 x 4s! 6. These people really should be prosecuted. It's outrageous that some people think having kids and a certain amount of money gives them carte blanche to do what they want and pay no regard to others. 7. This thread isn't just for the parents of children who attend this school, it's about the impact the selfishness of a few has on many other people in the area. I didn't realise that there were "exclusive" threads in this forum! 8. Don't be sorry - I'm very happy with my level thank you!

Having a bad day are we?! I thought that post was hilarious.

The Garrison's food is fantastic! Infinitely better than any other gastropub I've been to in London (although I've never tried the apparently great Anchor & Hope in Waterloo. You must have been there on an unusual off day.
  12. Sealed bids would be a great idea of they were carefully monitored and adjudicated (preferably by someone other than an estate agent!) If the vendor could set a reserve price, then it would be a much fairer system than the gazumping etc. that still seems so prevalent.
  13. It's really about time some restrictions were put on people driving children to school. Car shares should be compulsory and only allowed then if the school is more than a certain distance away from the school. Difficult to police I know but something needs to be done.

No need for English lessons from you thanks. 2. This was very unclear from your post. 3. Yes, it was.
  15. Thank you kford. They've come round and seem to accept it's their problem. The big worry is that we can't find a manhole (nor can our neighbours.)

What on earth are you going on about though re "disdaining/despising"? Are you inferring that middle class people "value and love" their children more than other people? If not, forgive me but I found your post confused and ever so slightly bizarre.
  17. They shouldn't be using so many cars to take their precious babies to school. They should carpool or how about this - make their children walk/use public transport!
  18. Thank you both. I'm not entirely sure when the house was built to be honest but that's good to know. One problem is that we can't locate a manhole cover!
  19. Yikes! Our rear drain is overflowing with all manner of unpleasantness! We've noticed our neighbours have the same problem but nobody's home and we're wondering if anyone else in Derwent Grove is having the same problem? It's hard to know whose responsibility it is as Southwark council's website says that if private drains have the problem, we have to sort it. The problem is that we don't know how many people are affected - any advice please?!!

  21. Anyway, parking in breach of > parking regulations isn't strictly 'illegal', it > is merely contrary to parking regulations Yes - and therefore due a ticket. Like it or not (and I don't), nobody should be surprised to get a ticket for this. It is after all pretty obvious that double parking is a bad idea unless you want to risk a ticket.
  22. Overzealous? Definitely. Should you appeal? Definitely. But playing devil's advocate, if you park illegally you can't be too surprised if you get caught, however unfair it seems.
  23. I think it's really irresponsible of the police to do something like this without warning and without providing more explicit reassurance. I don't blame you for being suspicious and you shouldn't feel in the least bit foolish.

Legalbeagle - I take your point, I really do and I appreciate that everyone's response to major life events is bound to be different but I frequently come across a lack of awareness and respect for others on the part of some, which I just don't think existed on such a large scale a few years ago, and which is not just restricted by the way to middle class ED parents. The point here being that yes, people have been rude for years but perhaps not in such huge numbers.
