Monster dogs tearing the sh!t out of each other in Nunhead
lizbells6 replied to northlondoner's topic in The Lounge
I witnessed a vicious dog fight on Hampstead Heath once. From this I deduced that the area was full of dangerous low life and gangs, rubbish strewn streets and crap shops so I didn't move there. -

Bzzz - If you see a honey-bee swarm this year...

Have sent you a pm. -
	Thanks for the link, flOwer.

From the photo, I would go with a Tillia (lime) too. The council planted some along our road about 5 years ago. They have small heart shaped leaves, and are meant to be a small-growing variety with lots of summer flowers for the bees and no sticky drop. We have one right outside which so far has reached the top of the upstairs windows. It's only about 3 metres from our house wall and I'm hoping the roots won't be a problem.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of a copy of the Yellow Book of gardens opening in South London? Is it stocked by any local bookshops?

Changing platforms at Peckham Rye

Thanks so much for the quick replies. I'll have a word with him and suggest some alternatives. -
I need to collect someone with mobility issues travelling from London Bridge to Nunhead. Can anyone tell me what platform the LB trains arrive at at PR? I think he needs to get to platform 4 for the Nunhead train so wondering if this involves steps? (He's in a huge hurry so the 343 bus would take too long). Thanks.

Do these families find out how much the takeaways are going to cost before they buy them or just grumble afterwards? I've never been to Andersons but surely they must have a price list.

You could try emailing pics and some details to Rosebery Auctions in South Norwood. Or Bonhams do specialist poster auctions. They would tell you if they are worth consigning for sale, bearing in mind sellers premiums, and a rough valuation. If not worth selling, perhaps the Theatre Museum might be interested in a donation, rather than throw them away? Dealers usually keep an eagle eye on eBay, so I would think they're probably not worth much, I'm afraid.

Do not mourn this stuff. Before it finally shuffles off its particle board mortal coil, it will be bathed in a mysterious ED heavenly light and its vintage shabby chic soul will be revealed and worshipped.

Are they really up to series FOUR? I caught a couple of series one episodes and it was absolute rubbish. Astonishing that they go on commissioning this load of old tosh.

That's great news. Well done. Southwark are quite keen on planting pollinator friendly plants in some parks so there might be someone who could advise about what to plant so there's a succession through the year to support wildlife as well as look good. Have you seen the plantlife website www.plantlife.org.uk? They have a roadside verge campaign going on. And for inspiration, there's the river of flowers campaign. www.riverofflowers.org Look forward to your updates.

Equiniti is a legit share registrar. You could google their contact details and give them a ring. It may be From something like an old building society account which got taken over by a bank and account holders were allocated bank shares. My sister just got some from when Abbey National was taken over by Santander ages ago.

11.00 this morning spotted first person queuing up outside Grove Vale library. Sitting on a camping chair under an umbrella.

There are 12 libraries in Southwark. The ED librarian told me that more tickets were allocated to those nearer the Shard so presumably ED got the fewest (200). Some are closed on Wednesdays so you might get lucky tomorrow if you're keen enough to travel on the offchance.

British Heart Foundation shop on Old Kent Road. I think they collect too. -

Kids drama clubs in local E.D Schools?
lizbells6 replied to LA-Lady's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It's a bit further away but Theatre Peckham based in Havil street is brilliant. If you go to book a course on their website, you can see what classes there are. They also do ballet and tap as well as drama and they're doing a production in December so you could check that out. Probably a waiting list though. -
As well as an alarm, does anyone else lock the internal doors when they go out?

Be VERY careful who is on your Christmas list. See " Christmas list" thread 12/10/12

The manure may contain a lot of weed seeds which are not broken down by the horses' digestive system. It may also contain aminopyralid, a broadleaf herbicide which is used on pasture and may be in the hay given to the horses and remain in the manure. This might then cause problems if the manure is used for certain plants and vegetables.

I think this is a great idea Robert. As you say, it may be a bit late for Southwark but are there any shops or businesses nearby who would sponsor it and maybe get some good PR in the local press? Also, if the council doesnt strim, you could sprinkle some packets of wild flower seeds around in the spring. They thrive on poor soil. I'm sure all the local beekeepers (including me!) would thank you for as many crocuses as possible. They are a very important source of early forage. In fact that might be an angle to take if you can think of any sponsors to approach, that they would be supporting bees and other pollinators as well as making the area look nice. Everyone thinks bees are dying out but in London more and more people are starting beekeeping, and there are worries about whether there are enough of the right sort of flowers to support them. Good luck.
