  1. Do you mean the Tall Stories production? If so, yes. It was brilliant and my 3 year old loved it too.
  2. Another recommendation for Elliot. He's, so far, replaced our architraves, built bedroom cupboards and alcove floating shelves. Fantastic workmanship and a pleasure to work with. Before starting any work he chatted with us to understand exactly what we wanted and what was possible. Can't recommend him highly enough!
  3. I used two different tens machines for each labour. One was a Mama Tens, can't remember what the other one was, but they both worked in very similar ways and did a good job. Rather than rent one, I found it cheaper to buy one on the EDF and then resell after you've used it. You can usually pick one up for about ?10-?15 and then you buy new pads on Amazon (about ?8) and poss new batteries (just to be on the safe side). The best advice I received was to attach the tens machine as soon as the contractions start. Hope this helps. Good luck!
  4. My daughter has been going since she was one year old (she's now 3) and we couldn't be happier. She absolutely loves it there. All the staff work extremely hard. Throughout the year there's lots of events where parents are encouraged to get involved (these range from a non-competitive sports day in the garden, summer BBQ, Christmas show and a yearly outing (last year they went to Chessington)). If you haven't already, I'd arrange a visit as choosing a nursery very much depends on your child, but I can't recommend Pat and her team highly enough.
  5. John Powers is great and very reasonable - there's plenty of recommends for him in the business section of the forum. His contact details are 07977909339 and his website is www.japowers.co.uk
  6. At work each year we do the Kids Out Giving Tree - not local, but they provide Christmas Presents for disadvantaged children in the UK. http://kidsoutgivingtree.org.uk/
  7. Sorry, no suggestions for buying flip flops at this time of year but a top tip on getting rid of a verruca fast. Place electricians tape or duct tape over the verruca for about a week and hey presto! it's gone. I think it works by blocking all light and oxygen from the verrucca (also works on warts) After spending a small fortune on the different gels, creams etc and them having no effect the tape was like a miracle cure.
  8. The Runnymede on Thames in egham is great. They offer a dinner bed, breakfast and spa treatment for about ?350 per couple.
  9. I had SPD in my first pregnancy and was "clicked back" in one session by osteopath John Prescott at the Montserrat Clinic in Putney (020 8780 2727). He told me that one session is absolutely sufficient unless it goes again.
  10. Hi Gracie, We've got a four man tent we no longer use, so I'll drop it off tomorrow morning if that's ok?
  11. You could take it to Southwark Refuse Centre just off the Old Kent Road or if you ring the council they might pick it up as part of their bulky waste collection.
  12. Bugaboo replaced ours for free as the buggy was still within warranty. Worth contacting them direct to see if they can help. Their customer service dept was very good.
  13. Hi all, I'm expecting my 2nd in January (my little girl turns 3 at the end of the month). Would love to meet up but not sure I can make the September dates as we're just in the middle of moving. Brissie, great idea about the Facebook page, I'll pm you.
  14. I swear by Bobbi Brown make up (a friend introduced me). If you can get to John Lewis on Oxford Street the girls at the counter there are great. I booked a make up lesson with them (it's "free" if you spend ?20 on make up and takes about 30mins). They weren't pushy with the products, listened to what you wanted to look like and they send you away with the list of things they've used and how to use them - so you can always purchase later rather than take the hit all at once. I love their eye concealer/brightner - it's def the product I can't live without. Good luck.
  15. Hi Tim, We'll keep a look out. Have you contacted Southwark council to see if any cats have been run over? Horrid I know but worth covering all bases. Also, when our cat went missing the lady who found him told us about this website: http://www.animalsearchuk.co.uk/report-a-missing-pet.php Really hope Wilf turns up soon.
  16. Twice this weekend my toddler (age 2) has had similar upsetting experiences with lively dogs. On both occasions she was walking holding her teddy (not waving it about, just calmly holding it) and two different dogs have walked up, taken the teddy (without being offered it) and ran off. The first time the owner was able to control the dog with voice commands and the matter was resolved quickly and apologetically. The second time the dog ran off paying absolutely no attention to the owner's commands (but finally the toy was returned). Both times my child was petrified and upset. I've worked really hard with her since she was tiny so she won't be afraid of dogs - I encourage her to interact with dogs in the park (always after asking the owners if their dogs would be happy for her to give them a stroke) but incidents like these set her back. I love nothing more than seeing dogs running free and playing in the park but owners of a small minority of dogs need to take some responsibility and accept that if they cannot control them with voice commands in a public place then they should be kept on a lead - the same goes for parents of unruly kids ;) I hope this thread does not become a children v dogs slanging match - that was never my intention - there's enough park for responsible parents and responsible dog owners.
  17. The Indesit IWDE126 is a Which? best buy. It's currently on sale on the Very website for ?349. http://www.very.co.uk/indesit-iwde126-6kg-wash-5kg-dry-1200-spin-integrated-washer-dryer/1310892203.prd?aff=google&affsrc=acquisition&cm_mmc=google-_-PLA+-+Electricals-_-Electricals+-+Appliances+-+Generic-_-NA&kpid=14728732&gclid=Cj0KEQiA1eyiBRC-qI2VzKf0vaUBEiQAUiZ3xA8wOEgMA9T8u_V4JnN1XfPrhGBqO0sXifMz0NROrp4aAgZu8P8HAQ
  18. Agree with Mr Tibbs. My little one is also at Mother Goose Waveney and she absolutely loves it. All the staff take an interest in all the children, the atmosphere is warm and caring and they give excellent daily feedback on what the children have been doing. Can't rate it highly enough. Made my transition back to work so much easier.
  19. Unfortunately, I think most of the nurseries have very long waiting lists. I registered when I was 4 months pregnant, thinking I would be laughed at, but this is apparently the norm. I have a friend who lives near the Plough who sends her son to a child minder (New Beginnings) near to the Barcelona tapas restaurant
  20. Another thumbs up for The Gardens surgery. Easy to get an appointment and all the doctors are great especially Dr Tran - it's not often you come out of the doctors smiling, but we always share a giggle.
  21. I started with Huggies with my baby girl but quickly moved to pampers which leaked significantly less (think there'll always be a few exploding poos). I now use sainsburys own which are just as good and lots cheaper.
  22. I use the John lewis sheepskin liner in both my Maxicosi carseat and my bugaboo. It's a universal fitting (like most of the liners) so would be perfect for the pebble. I don't think there's a specific one for any of the maxicosi range (but I could be wrong).
  23. I've just bought a Maclaren Quest to use on holidays - it's very light, fully reclines and has a calf rest so babies can sleep comfortably. There are cheaper/lighter buggies on the market but they don't recline fully. My 8 month old falls asleep happily in it and we've also found it useful for weekends away as it doesn't take up the whole of the car boot.
  24. I'm in exactly the same situation and spoke to the passport office. They said I should use the name currently on my passport. As you have to send off your baby's full birth certificate this will have your maiden name on too which should avoid any confusion.
  25. Draw!
