  1. Could your midwife give you a sweep? I had a sweep at 40+3 and went into labour that night. After the sweep I sat on the birthing ball for most of the day and also used an oil burner with some drops of Clary sage in it. I went into labour that night. I've no idea but suspect the sweep was what cracked it!
  2. Hello everyone! Just wanted to say Hi, I'm also expecting number 2 in late June so have been checking in every now and again to see if there is a summer babies thread I can join! Look forward to meeting you all at some point :)
  3. We used Little Fingers on Barry Road for our little one before we moved away because we literally couldn't get him in anywhere else, despite being on waiting lists since pregnancy. We didn't want to go down the nanny/childminder route. The staff and environment are lovely, their admin isn't great though - but to be honest i've found that with a lot of nurseries. They were very accomodating with settling in and also were happy to be called when I wanted to check how he was (after he was upset at drop off etc!). They didn't pay attention to where I had stated on his form that he had an egg allergy though, and then they gave him egg and he had a reaction. Obviously this would be a serious issue if the allergy was more serious! So I would question them on that. It could have just been a procedural teething problem that has been rectified. They were very kind and loving though and our son really enjoyed it there. It's definitely worth a visit to see if you like it. They are quite new, only been open a year or so.
  4. I put my child on the Gumboots waiting list when I was 5 months pregnant. We never got a place, and he's nearly 2! I think because its so popular that maybe the baby room gets filled with siblings of children that already have a place? The other tip I would give you is that once you have found a nursery you like and got onto the waiting list, just keep calling and make a pain of yourself!
  5. They are donating to St Christopher's Hospice aren't they? They did last year. There is a letter from the hospice pinned up at the site.
  6. Yeah I presume you mean ?10 an hour! My cleaner is paid ?10 an hour and last year we gave her an extra ?10 at christmas.
  7. Definitely get on a list now! Don't think it's too early. I put my son on a list at Gumboots nursery when I was 5 months pregnant. He's now 18 months, still no place! (obviously we made alternative arrangements). We pay ?960 a month for 4 full days for him (in Sydenham, not ED).
  8. We went to the Dordogne last year and stayed here: http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/rentals/lanouaille/307486 The area was great in terms of being near to interesting things to see and do. We went with our 5 month old and the gite owners were very sweet and provided loads of age appropriate toys for him. Its a small cottage and all on one level with open plan kitchen/dining room and a nice big garden. There's two bedrooms so would be big enough if your kids are ok sharing a room? Its really near Lac de Rouffiac which is a lake with a gorgeous sandy beach. We got the ferry and drove but it is a loooooong old drive. We stopped in Arras on the way down and Chartres on the way home to break it up a bit, but we still ended up with about 5-6 hours driving in one day.
  9. I'm following too! I'm a way behind you guys (9th Feb) but clearly now starting to panic about how much we still have to organise at home..... Had our 32 week scan yesterday and baby is head down though. I'm feeling ok although I have got SPD (symphis pubis dysfunction or something!), which basically means I have too much relaxin in my pelvis which is making it painful to walk now. I'm seeing the guy at Dulwich Chiro clinic who is helping me out. I am sending good vibes your way for your babies to make an appearance!
  10. I hadn't seen anything about this new nursery, and I live on Barry road! (its a long road though of course). I'd be interested in hearing any info that others might have too!
  11. I'm clearly being a fool because I can't find it either! I'll befriend you Tess and try to find it that way :)
  12. Was fab to see you all last night and to meet some new faces! We would def be up for a day/Sunday meet up too. Good work on the Facebook group Tess, I did a search and couldn't find it though! :(
  13. We'll be there tonight! Looking forward to it. Happy birthday Charlotte - hope you have a great night! I had my flu and whooping cough jabs yesterday so my arms are killing me! See you later Andrea x
  14. Hey all! Sorry I missed it last week, hope you all had fun. We are most definitely up for 28th, thanks again for organising Tess. Andrea x
  15. Hey all Unfortunatley we won't be able to join you on the 7th Nov now, my grandad died and its his funeral up in Wales on that day :( Hopefully see you all at the next one (for those of you who haven't actually had your babies by then!). By the way we are booked on the NCT classes that start on 3rd Jan just off East Dulwich Grove so we might see some of you there too!! Andrea x
  16. Thanks Tess, looking forward to seeing you all tonight and meeting some new faces! We'll be there at 8.
  17. Yes I saw that today Tess! I am definitely going to ask my midwife about it. I'm going to ask about the flu jab too because apparently that is quite good to have when your immune system is down because you're pregnant! Hope the yoga goes well tomorrow. I did my first class last night at Goose Green osteopathic centre, it was good!
  18. It was so lovely to meet you all on Wednesday, I was very impressed that there were so many of us (and dads too!). 17th October sounds great to me! Thanks for sorting Tess! :) Andrea x
  19. Me and my hubby are coming! Looking forward to meeting those who can come along too! I will be on the look out for bumps :) PS: are people going to be eating? I doubt we'll get a chance to eat before we come so think I will be partaking in one of their pizzas!
  20. Hi ECG I had my booking appt at Kings - I was 10 weeks as well when I went. There won't be a scan (they don't have the equipment there I don't think, that is in the actual hospital), it will be a long chat, height and weight measurement, blood pressure check, urine check, blood tests (they take 4 vials of blood I think to send away for testing for HIV etc). They fill in your notes and you take them away with you. My appt took an hour I think. You should get a separate letter appointment for your '12' week scan (which can happen up to 14 weeks I think - though I'm others will correct me if I'm wrong!). I had mine at 11+5 weeks - that took two hours (including scan, internal scan, blood pressure, height/weight check, blood test and waiting for scan results - it was v. efficient I thought! Hope that helps Andrea PS when I say waiting for scan results I mean they have to wait for your blood test result to put that together with the NT measurement for downs.
  21. Ah, glad it was good. My 20 week scan is in early Oct, seems ages away at the moment though! We have decided to stay team yellow too :) Salsie - I definitely got a form in my maternity notes (I think they gave it to me along with my notes etc when I had my booking in appt at Kings). It was a scrappy photocopied bit of paper, there were a couple - one was for breastfeeding workshops I think.
  22. I'm feeling pretty good! How are you feeling Ramble? Looking back you must have had your 20 week scan now? How was it? I'm 15 + 4 now and finally a bump is starting to show - its a relief after just looking a bit bloated for quite a while... although clothing for work is starting to stress me out! Along with the growing bump I seem to be getting some more twinges (which I think is probably growing/stretching pains) but every new twinge I think 'oooh, do I need to worry about that??'. First baby panic and all that!!
  23. Thanks Dainee, its in my diary! My husband would like to come along too - he asked about it the other day! Great idea.
  24. I'm up for that too! And the pizzas there are good, really nice pub - good choice! Looking forward to meeting you all :)
