  1. Hi there, I'm noticing that a lot of the children centres and playgroups are closing leading up to xmas as I think a lot run to term time. I look after my 2 little girls , age 2 and 3.5 each day and just wondering what activities I can be doing with them - especially since we can't really get out to the park much in this chill...(its a different story during summer hols). So does anyone know if there are any young kids activities that will keep up during the next two weeks...until the 24th Dec? I think the library is open (not sure if toddler group is happening though) but apart from that I'm a bit stuck. Any ideas appreciated...! Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi Mitch I dropped you a PM with my address the other day on Ivydale road. Please call me on 07799582892... Hope to see you soon. Thanks
  3. yes - thankyou the wonders of the forum...what a fantastic commmunity thing this is..! Will get in touch direct Mitch..cheers (I think my little girl must have left it near the video's when we stopped to check them out too...as that wasn't our house with the vids).
  4. Vague mummy here....my daughter left her micro pink scooter outside our house on Ivydale Road around midday on Tuesday. I only realised this yesterday after searching the house and my memory and searched parks and asked at school yesterday (wed). Someone must have picked it up shortly after it was left outside...thinking that perhaps we had finished with it...as people often leave items outside houses for pickup. If someone has picked this up, without realising that we would still like to hang onto it, can you please get in touch via pm. The pink scooter has little pooh bear stickers on the handle (slightly worn off) and a mass of red rubber bands at the base of the handle. If anyone knows about this we would love them to get in touch as we can't really afford another one right now. Any used micro scooters going cheap we would love to hear from you. Many thanks for reading!
  5. my partner walked into city ...arent they keen! just checked live info boards at train station and trains seem to be running every 30mins ...
  6. Just to put in my two cents worth, I'm loving the conditions here...my partner and I are both probably crazy..we braved the outdoors earlier today...he walked for an hour and a half into the city...and has to do the same on return (thats a bit too keen!). Whilst I donned snow boots, ski pants and ski jacket to push phil and ted double pram across peckham rye park to drop my toddler at childminder with newborn swaddled underneath. slightly dreading the pickup now with the worsening conditions. i saw cars sliding and spinning on my journey so would not recommend car trip unless you have snow chains. on the plus side...It is definately magical out there if you are going for a stroll with the right gear on (think ski slopes and possibly goggles too) ...go out and enjoy it and we can all live without a bank or somerfield for one day can't we!
  7. Hi- joined up to the forum as about to move into the area...one of the things that attracted me to the ED area was the feeling of safety (gathered from walks in the area & experiences of friends who live there). One of the main reasons for wanting to move away from my current area - Dalston - (edges of hackney) is the lack of this apparent safety...feels very much on the edges of gangland. I know 3 business men - mid 30's in suits (including my husband) who have got mugged walking home from work and these all took place 5 min from their respective homes. They are all tall or broad men - but look like they perhaps have a bit of money on them (from the suit) so have been picked on either by a gang or a large individual. In each case i was told that youths gathered to watch the mugging and just looked on and jeered...just awful...my husband came home with his suit in strips...his pockets had been torn from him as he had stood his ground and neither fought back nor given up his wallet. (in the end the man gave up after kicking my husband to the ground) . So this was (one of the) impetus to get out of the area...into a safer place. It is worrying that ED sounds like it has its share of this trouble...but I expect all of london has...especially where wealthier neighbourhoods border poorer ones..the demographic tensions build up. Hopefully we will have an easier time of it when we move to the area...fingers crossed! ps- good idea about the fake wallet....my husband took out all but the necessities from his wallet should it get taken from him..but a fake wallet is even better!
