  1. Just to clarify the gas in the oven works well and it can be lit with a flame but the electric starter is broken. We have a problem that gas engineers don’t do electrics and electricians don’t touch gas ovens Any ideas who could help us find a person who could fix for my relative who is housebound.
  2. Also highly recommend Alfie. He came around and help us with some heavy lifting and removing old rubbish. Excellent communication, good rates and reliable. I will be using again.
  3. The situation as a whole isn't funny but that article is (and I say this as someone who is unhealthily obsessed with their cats and quite concerned about their safety now, hence the constant checking of this thread).
  4. Do you think a Vet would scan it to check for a microchip? Means its owner would at least know what had happened to it.
  5. I keep meaning to come on here to recommend Frank. We used him twice a few weeks ago, and were really impressed by how reliable and helpful he was. He fitted us in at the last minute, and we had a particularly tricky job with a very heavy item that he helped us with the last time. He was well prepared (had some tools with him and helped us take it apart a bit, as well as lending my husband some gloves!) and didn't complain at all about shifting it up and down stairs. Really nice guy and a great service.
  6. Can echo the recommendations for Le Querce (particularly enjoy trying their unusual ice cream flavours when I go there!), Mamma Dough and Babur. Had a great meal at The Orchard near Brockley station a couple of months ago. There's also the Honor Oak pub which opened last summer, haven't been there in the evening but had a nice Sunday roast there a while back.
  7. Probably unlikely as he's a mix and this is in Honor Oak but someone spotted a Siamese sitting by the train tracks the other day on the SE23 forum: http://www.se23.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=11763
  8. Sounds a bit strange but I've read online that if the paint is water based (I think) then making up a batch of fairly thick porridge and then plastering that over it and leaving it covered with cling film for a couple of days can often work well. Planning on trying it myself some point soonish.
  9. I've been told wet and dry sanding paper works.
  10. We are moving house and have a couple of heavy white goods which we need to bring down from our third floor flat into a van. My husband has a slipped disc and can't do any heavy lifting. Can anyone recommend 2 people who could do this. It will probably take about an hour and just needs to be taken down the stairs into a van on the street. We'd be looking to do this any time before midday on Sunday (or possibly Monday) PM me if interested and I'll send you my mobile number
  11. You'll also have the cinema a short bus journey down the road once it opens.
  12. Is this something you need to organise a large group to do (eg book one of the packages on the website) or can just one or two of you turn up and have a go?
  13. Wow, I wondered if it might have hit a house it was so close. How scary that must have been for them!
  14. Do you know how they stole her purse? Did they just grab it off her on the doorstep or did she invite them in/they forced their way in and stole it?
