Parking in Tintagel Crescent
James Barber replied to amygemmell's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi Peterstorm1985, Please see attached questinoaiire about options for private drives. Hope you find it useful. An extract states: " How does enforcement work? The Council can enforce a dropped kerb by issuing a parking ticket and/or removing the vehicle only in the following circumstances: ? Most commonly, we enforce against vehicles that are parked next to a dropped kerb that has been lowered to help people to cross the road easily, these locations are often marked with tactile paving. ? Where the dropped kerb is used to access a driveway attached to an individual house we can enforce if we have been given permission of the owner/occupier. Currently the Council operates a scheme by which the owner/occupier can sign up with the Council to allow enforcement of their dropped kerb. Once agreed enforcement will take place at any time and without reference to the resident, who must not park across their own vehicle across their dropped kerb and they also will not be able to authorise others to park there as a parking ticket/removal could occur. ? Please note that if the dropped kerb accesses flats, a house split into flats or a business then currently the Council do not have the power to enforce. " I suspect the latter point would be resolve if all flats agreed to one form of enforcement or management committee did. Hope this helps. -
Friern Road closure at Peckham Rye
James Barber replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi the-e-dealer, Yes, but council officers think much of the impact will be felt by East Dulwich residents. -
And jam_log if you find the cal centre doesn't work - and the Enviroment Director has told me it's failing - escalate to a councillor for help.

Parking in Tintagel Crescent
James Barber replied to amygemmell's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes, but where do you draw the line? At this time the council has decided to fund an area either side of Grove Vale nearest to East Dulwich station. I would have preferred to see the area consulted upon include Tell, Matham, Chesterfield, Ashbourne, Blackwater and Bassano on basis of oeprating one hour a day but insufficient money allocated. I found out what would have been required for a DIY parking pressure survey (the expensive up front research) and asked for volunteers from this forum but had sadly no only one taker and it would have required several. -
REVISED TO ADD THE ATTACHMENT An experimental road closure of Friern Road with Peckham Rye is proposed with access maintained via Barry Road. Please see attached montage. To provide feedback to officers about this please tell [email protected] your: Q1 Name Q2 Address Q3 Postcode Q4 Are you a local resident or do you work for a local business Q5 Do you support the experimental road closure?

The public consultation starts tomorrow with hand delivered consultation forms being delivered tomorrow Friday 14 October. Two public exhibitions at Grove Vale library - Saturday 5 November 10-2pm & Weds 9 November 4-8pm. Below are links where you can view and download information relating to the parking consultation. Grove Vale CPZ webpage http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200140/parking_projects/2280/grove_vale_area/1 Grove Vale CPZ downloads (consultation document and initial design) http://www.southwark.gov.uk/downloads/download/2877/grove_vale-controlled_parking_zone_study Grove Vale CPZ online questionnaire (link not available until Friday 14 Oct) www.southwark.gov.uk/consultations A supplementary questionnaire will also be sent to residents in Elsie Road and Melbourne Grove who have a private driveway, on their preferred parking restriction across their dropped kerb. I've asked officers to expand this for the few on Melbourne Grove who also have private driveways and the one home on Zenoria Street. THE CONSULTATION END FRIDAY 11 NOVEMBER 2011. -
Curmudgeon, That is a kind offer. I don't think that necessary for now. Talking to the coach service it appears they don't need so many bays on one side of the road but the other due to the direction of ingress and egress from the area. So let's see if that, which won't happen instantly and would involve asking the local community, can be fixed which would result in coaches not being outside bays. And clearly the leaving engines running - that would be a useful thing to log please.

Tonight Sue asked a public question at full council assembly about why are the blue wheelie bins so very blue and was the streets cape team consulted. It transpires the streetscape team went consulted. Sue obtained commitment that future orders of blue wheelie bins will consider the hue of blue and hopefully choose a more subdued blue that. Doesn't stick out so much. Well done Sue.

Hi Zebedee Tring, I've just received a response which has been delayed by the three days of Blackberry problems. Apologies for this delay. The feedback I've received is that both coaches are not part of the regular coach service. one was a visiting school and the other related to school trip. I will go back and ask about what procedures Alleyns think they could have to ensure. Visiting schools are briefed in advance and also coach related to school trips. Further information they've provided is that the existing coach bays do not reflect the regular coach service requirements ie. Bays on sides that coaches can't really use for their routes. I'll now ask a Village ward councillor whose ward this location is in to lead on this with an offer of assistance from me if she needs it to help come up with a permanent solution.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
James Barber replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi ClareinSE22, I think one of the Peckham Rye ward Councillors has provided an update that the threat is real and he has asked what can be done and is expecting an answer soon. Clearly East Dulwich ward cllrs and I'm sure Peckham Rye ward councillors would be horrified if such a useful facility were closed when so many millions are being siphoned into the councils reserves for a rainy day. Let me try and find out what is proposed and why. -

Hi jam_log, Which block? The food waste scheme is aimed at the easier street properties. I was fortunate enough to have my suggestion for the Friern Road four. Blocks of council flats accepted but those are the only blocks included in the food waste scheme. -

Hi Donkey, The latest proposals are a Puffin crossing across Lordwhip Lane a smigden south of its junction with East dulwich Grove and that East Dulwich Grove have a raised treatment where it meets Lordship Lane. So the pavement for pedestrians walking along Lordship Lane will feel extended right across East Dulwich Grove. The traffic will be broken into chunks by the Puffin Crossing adjacent on Lordship Lane. Smugly (humour me) I suggested this during several long meetings with traffic consultants who could'nt find a way of fixing things without fully signalisatino which would have required no parking for 50m in all directinos from the junction which would never have got past public consultation. Hi TE44, I only watched a small part of that despatches. Did you catch the Prof of recyclnig name - I'd like to get in touch with ihm. Your question - why has southwark changed to mixed up recycling. Because people recycle more the easier you make it. That the reduced value of the un seperated recycling is countered by the increased rate of recycling. Additoonally huge proportion of flats in Southwark in tower blocks making seperation really awkward for people. As it is many have complained about having 3 different wheelie bins - green, brown and blue. More seperation would require more bin types. So, yes its a compromise. I'll find out the date but the new Integrated Waste Management Facility that's been years in the making will soon be open to visitors. Let me find out the date and you can then see for yourself. hi embo71, I'll ask if those gates can have signs added. hi Fuschia, Yes, I'll ask about auto gate closers. -
Mobile Traffic Enforcement - They Have to Go !
James Barber replied to Mr.Edwards's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Parking fine revenue is down 17%. Cool. People are currently being more law abiding. -
The picture you've posted does look shoking but could be improved if the two flats agreed to share bins. I suspect they will no longer need two brown or green bins and depending on how many residents may well not need two blue bins. I really would encourage households to consider sharing bins with neighbours and asking for any surplus bins to be collected - 020 7525 2000.

Hi milk76and inteaxatthemoment, They've finished constructing te the electrics for the crossing but the road needs to be resurfaced. Due to the narrowness of the road now I've been told this resurfacing will need acomplete road closure and the works will happen overnight later this month. -

Hero Security Guard @ Sainsburys
James Barber replied to scor46's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'll second that. With more Sam behaviour we wouldn't have anywhere near as much fear of crime. -

Southwark News reports today that DC Bruni of Southwark CID is asking ANY witnesses to call them on 020 7232 6145 or go via Crimestoppers. Hopefully they'll get lots of witnesses calling - it would be sahme for this guy to have been so brave for it to be wasted for lack of witnesses. Any defence lawyer would easilly be able to discredit Sam's evidence as a rsult of a head injury. So witnesses important to get a conviction. -
Old hospital site ideal for a new free school?
James Barber replied to Earl Aelfheah's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
What sort of free school? Presume you mean the levelled part. To get planning permission despite the development plan for the site and build it would take several years and many ?M's. -
Hi Sue. peterstorm1985, I contacted the head of environment services at Southwark who stated they have a problem with the call centre. Not clear whether volume of calls related to missed collections or the call centre itself. Eitherway anyone with problems feel free to escalate to me.
