  1. When I hear which planning committee this planning application will be decided by i'll post it here. The floodlighting is proposed to be 15m, the application explains that the hockey pitch is about 1.5m below road level. Whether 13.4M of 15m still tall. The previous application was withdrawn by the applicant - they were told they needed a bat survey, etc, which they've included in this application. Hi EDfor, All schools now have dramatically different perimeter and access arrangements eg. door intercomms than a decade ago. All stems from mad machete man savagely attacking kids and staff at a nursery. So not sure why you think this a Lib Dem flight of fancy.
  2. IF ANY ONE WANTS A ROYAL WEDDING STREET PARTY BUT MISSED THE DEADLINE EMAIL ME NOW I've asked council officers if we could be creative in enabling any further street parties to happen and at a push it may be possible. But time is REALLY pressing. I seem to recall one person asking about Friern Road. EMAIL ME IF YOU REALLY WANT YOUR STREET TO HAVE A STREET PARTY.
  3. Hi Al&em, I think I said I'd be surprised if lights required which indeed I am. I'll find out why these lights have appeared. Shouldn't be necessary from the works that were advertised as described.
  4. The deadline for emails or letters objecting or supporting this planning application is today 12 April BUT objectors or supporters views after today will still be accepted it just makes it ever harder for them to be taken into consideration and reach the final officer report. If 3 ojections are received the application will be decided by a planning committee. I also think it a shame the school is more gated than in the past but with child protection issues being more prominent this is hardly surprising or avoidable. The large number of homes backing onto the school will also be safer as a result of the school being more secure.
  5. This years Community Fund is open. You can apply for between ?100-?1000 for a community event - festival, outing, fun day, newsletter. Any ideas but you're not sure contact me. The Dulwich Community Fund has ?15,000 which we usually divide into ?5,000 for each ward. To apply you'll need to fill in a form by Monday 16 May and the event must be take place before 31 March 2012. I'd expect us to decide by the end of May which events to support with funding. Get applying.
  6. Hi Lucyd30, A resident or residents will have put a letter through everyone door and probably canvassed door to door asking if any minded a street party being held. Assuming broadly a supportive street and others want to get involved said resident/s will have apporached Southwark Events Team and confirmed the actions they took to check people on a street supported a street party. A few forms to fill in about insurance, when, how closed, what proposed to take place. Advert gets placed, Notices go up on lamp posts to give people a formal opportuntiy to object and hay presto you have a street party in the making. If you've missed organising a street party for this year royal wedding nothing to stop you organising one for The Big Lunch in early June.
  7. Its partly the ending of the councils Community Wardens service in the Lordship Lane area - they report a lot of eco crime. I still report lots of stuff but a lot of area to cover! If it bugs you please do become a Street Leader - voluntary role to give you an inside track on getting eco crime fixed.
  8. Hi tarot, Spitting outside local councillor sphere I'm afraid. Definately something for the local MPs - either Tessa Jowell or Harriet Harman. Hi dazeykat, I know nothnig about this but will find out and come back to you.
  9. I think its really sad that parliamentary time can be found for this over so many other even more worthwhile issues. Extreme cyclists have gone to prison for the incrediblt rare occurence of a pedestrian being injured or even more rare killed by a cyclist. This contrasts with the many more cyclists killed every year by motor vehicles. In London tipper and concrete lorries that don't legally have to have side guards kill around 8-12 cyclists a year (roughly half of cyclist deaths). They're excused sideguards in case they get damaged on building sites. Some cement companies have added them and not found this to be an issue. IF parliamentary time can be found a balanced act solving all isues around cyclsits and safety would be the mature responsible things to do. RATHER than a Daily Mail/Sun headline grabbing stunt.
  10. I've just been told that Dulwich and Peckham Rye Parks are considered tier 1 parks. By 10am every day they should have a complete full litter pick. Then every 3 hours a complete repeat litter pick until 4.30pm. ie total of three complete litter picks. Clearly the quantity of litter I witnessed in Dulwich Park and others reported in Peckham Rye Park indicate this didn't happen over the weekend. I'll ask why not. NB Goose Green is a tier 2 open space and should have full litter pick by 11am and a further complimentary clearnace in the afternoon.
  11. Hi trinity, Apparentrly Wood Vale is 30mph and has never been 20mph. It was wrongly signed as 20mph and this has now been corrected. Council officers have checked and they don't have the funds at the moment and would need to agree with Lewisham to change this to 20mphs - but they assure me its on the things they'd like to do. This would need agreement of Southwarks - College ward and Peckham Rye ward councillors and Lewisham - Forest Hill ward councillors. Hope this helps.
  12. Spent yesterday canvassing with a group of like minded Yes campaigners in ED (between CPR, LL, EDG and Landcroft). Overwhelmingly Yes supporters. It was really rare to have a No supporter. Really nice to be campaigning for something different and what a gorgeous day to be doing it. If anyone else wants to go knocking on doors or helping with a local stall for this YES campaign please let me know.
  13. Hi trinity, I've asked what's going on and will report back.
  14. Hi trinity, I met with council officers two weeks ago about something else and when this topic came up they told me it was still in the air.
  15. Apparently extra end of the day rubbish collections not planned this year until 1 May as the weather warms up and more light. The head of parks is seeing if they can be brought forward. This is general political decision about priorities and resources. General street cleaning has gone to sweeping streets once a month rather than fortnightly.
  16. The planning application is 11/AP/0495. The lighting report appears to suggest one nearby property 24 Townley Road will have light pollution of between 1 and 2 LUX with the pitch being lit to 500 LUX. NB. the same report suggests pavement light levels of between 2 and 10 LUX (from memory). I believe the sports pitches are on Metropolitan Open Land which would mean if 3 objections to this scheme were received the main Southwark wide planning committee would decide whether permission were granted or refused. Sadly local ocuncillors wouldn't get to decide. I've been asking to change the scope so that such schemes on MOL are decided by local Dulwich Community Council planning committee.
  17. Some time ago I mentioned I'd ask my colleague Cllr Rosie Shimell to use the ladies changing room and take a swim. She reports to me that when visited it was fine and nice pool temperature as well. Hi Bazmonkey, You appear to be the only person reporting these illnesses a few days after swimming at the pool. Is it possible you're run down generally.
  18. Another issue was one of the recyclnig bins had been knocked over - quite a feat as concreted in.so certainly on Saturday lots of plastics near the kids playground. I've contacted the head of parks to ask what changes have occurred for Dulwich & Peckham Rye Parks to look quite such a pickle at the weekend.
  19. Hi monica, Unfortunately Lordship Lane is not 20mph - and it should be. The main shopping area is I understand still 30mph. The proposed two new crossings of Lordship Lane may enable this to change but I'm not holding my breath.
  20. Several royal wedding street parties are happening in East Dulwich - Elsie Road, Nutfield Road, Carver Road. Several others in Dulwich Village area - Desenfans Road, Burbage Road. In total 13 street parties across Southwark that require a formal street closure. This has been supported by Southwark News waiving the legally required advertising costs - something former ED Cllr Richard Thomas organised with Southwark NEws several years ago.
  21. Hi skyblue, Apologiies but I still don't have the data I said I'd obtain about numbers of boys and girls. Still trying t obtain it.
  22. It starts 2014/15 and by then ?140 with inflation is predicted to be around ?155pw.
  23. I'm in favour of a change in voting system and AV is a definite improvement. Shame its only being proposed for parliamentary elections. Many parts of the country have local elections on 5 May this year. Many many 100's of local councillor seats have only one candidate standing - they've been delcared the winners without a single vote having to be cast. FPTP is the reason for this. Under FPTP only a relatively few parliamentary seats change hands. With ever more focus on those few possibly changes without a change to voting system we'll see fewer and fewer seats being truly contested. And our democracry get ever weaker. This is partly why fewer voters are taking part and the turnouts have been declining for a number of decades.
  24. If anyone doesn't get a response in a timely way - the 3 days - please do let me know and I'll try for you. I've had a number of queries about this years admissions process which I've yet to receive a response - I asked early March. So not a good year for admissions.
  25. Otta, Have you bothered to read the report presented to the licensing sub committee?
