  1. Exactly my point. What's [rpbably caused this confusion is that it practically opens for public use from 6.30am FRIDAY 24 September BUT the family open weekend is the weekend 25 & 26 September.
  2. Hi EDmummy, STAX Saturday music centre at St.Thomas the Apostle in Nunhead bit away from my patch! So I don't know but have asked the officer I believe will know on basis of East Dulwich parents using it and will report back once I have a reply.
  3. My understanding is that many hundreds of people use Herne Hill Velodrome every week despite it current poor facilities. Those facilities have crumbled for decades. When the GLC was closed responsibility for the HHVD lease passed to Southwark Council. HHVD is a semi regional facility and would ideally be funded, much as Crystal Palace Sports Centre is, by the Greater London Authority.
  4. Hi peterstom1985, Next Dulwich Community Council 10 November 7pm Christchurch southern end of Barry Road. We'll have an extended session talking about how to change what Southwark does - what can be cut, what promises to spend more have been made. Come along and give your view about Southwark Life.
  5. Hi snoop, Great suggestions. They've been added to the list and letter consulting people should go out in the next 2-4 weeks. Depending upon replies that's where trees will could be planted......unless anyone has more great ideas to consult on. Don't be shy.
  6. As with all these examples the local police are incredibly keen to have all crime reported - I met them last Thursday they said the one message they want to get across is please report crime to them. They are exasperated by people not reporting such criminal antics. The no.78. All buses have CCTV. If it had been reported the CCTV would have been scanned and a face to go with numerous sexual assaults would have been known. Hardened criminals start on lower level crimes and progress. Please report all crime to our local Police.
  7. Goose Green playground is nearly across the road from the Dulwich Leisure centre that has public toilets. Burger King as a food outlet has toilets. The examples given are people being at best thoughtless.
  8. Hi edanna, Council tree officers consider the street scape and attempt to place bigger trees in areas that are more capable of taking a tree that will ultimately get bigger and vice versa. Hence Cherry blossom trees north end meblourne Grove which tend to be tighter and less impact on roots. So my understanding is yes they do. BUT if you ever spot something different please let me know ASAP so we can get it resolved. I'm not an expert on trees.
  9. Hi suie, I've been assured it re opens on FRIDAY 24 September at 6.30am - not Friday 25th as you've stated. I've confirmed this with council officers and Fusion manager on site.
  10. Has anyone had voltage optimisation installed in their home? And if you have has it been successful in reducing your bills/CO2? james
  11. We're finalising where to plant new street trees. Attached yrellow dots is the feedback from residents so far. If you have any locations you think we need street please let me know. After the beautiful cherry blossom trees at the north end of Melbourne Grove last year we'll probably emphasis more cherry blossoms.
  12. MrsP, I've reported the problem and would expect action alnog lines TonyQuinn has outlined. if it doesn't improve please let me know. btw council environment line is 020 7525 2000 - 020 7525 5000 is the general switch board for the council.
  13. The Dulwich Pool repopens 6.30am Friday 24 September. Hooray. This was an election pledge in 2006 by Jonathan Mitchell, Richard Thomas and mysefl. Frustrating its taken quite so long to make happen but chuffed to bits the pool opens in 8 days time and a few months later the gym refurb is finished. ?6.1M investment decided when Southwark wsa led by Liberal Democrats.
  14. The Dulwich Pool reopens next Friday the 24 September starting at 6.30am. I've attached the timetable that starts then. I've also attached the studioe and pricing leaflets.
  15. Hi catzac, No i don't but will ask again and come back asap with answer when i have it.
  16. Back in 2008 all GLA Mayoral candidates promised bike hire schemes. The Barclays Boris bike hire scheme hasn't yet been completed in zone 1 and various teething problems. So it will be some time before zone 1 is completed before it gets rolled out further. Sooner this happens the better but lets not get excited soon.
  17. Hi bob, Those works did take ages. I suggested that the priority for completing road works ion ED had to be the Lordship Lane/Barry Road junction. That might have caused this delay outside the Police station.
  18. Hi elloriac, Waitrose non organic sweetened soya milk - but I have to be honest it is probably a waxed drink carton. Sorry.
  19. I've received an email from the councils project officer stating official opening weekend after next 25/26 September with a family fun day. So only 12 days to go.
  20. I've had several complained about trade waste collections from Lordship Lane businesses. The private waste contracts often have collections VERY early. often the businesses have forgotten they have neighbours and drop bottles into their bins loudly at odd and very late hours. If you have any such problems can I ask that you keep a details diary of when and what disturbs you. Contact the Southwar knoise team via 020 7525 2000. If you fail to make progress please let me know so I can help.
  21. Hi JDR, I've asked and await a full response. My kids learnt to swim at Dulwich and I'd expect many more to have that opportunity.
  22. Would anyone be interested in walking along Lordship Lane agreeing where we all think more cycle parking could/should go and in what form? Say week Sunday 6pm outside EDT?
  23. Hi Fuschia, I think ?2,000/year is way out but the current ?100,000 should be plenty to maintain this building and provide 3 members of staff full time. If it isn't then can i suggest a bunch of parents for a coop and offer to take it over from the council. A coop/charity is much more likely to find external funding for a rebuild than Southwark is. Such a group is probably more likely to get such a building used in the evening for other youth activities such as scouts/girl guides etc. The East Dulwich Community Centre receives from memory around ?25,000/year has an ancient structure and manages to have nearly continuous back to back use from huge variety of community groups.
